Nervous to buy weight loss injection

RachSt12 · 28/09/2025 19:20

Hi everyone,
Im seriously thinking about purchasing a weight loss injection.
Im worried about the side effects, spending so much money and it not working.

Ive read so many posts, I dont know where to even purchase from as everyone suggests somewhere different.

I’m around 14st and would love to loose 4st.

Anyone else in a similar boat, or was and now on the weight loss journey.

keen to hear/ thank you x

Have a look at the price comparison site Monj.co.uk - they have price lists for Mounjaro and a link to a site with price comparisons for Wegovy. Not sure which you’re interested in.

It doesn’t matter where you get the prescription from really as the medication is the same regardless. All the ones on the website above are GPhC registered. So I’d look for the cheapest one and start there. You can change to a different one for your next order if you see a better price.

The reason these medications have been approved is that they work for the majority of people. Chances are they will work for you too. Side effects are usually mild and manageable, and if they aren’t you can stop taking it.

Most of us at some point I reckon!!

If it helps…
I have lost over half my body weight going from 16st 12 to 8st 4. I haven’t really had any side effects other than minor gastric issues when going up a dose or if I eat/drink too much of the wrong thing.

Yes, it is a financial outlay but I save at least the cost of my pen every month by not drinking a bottle of wine every day!

I think you can tell from my user name that I was worried it wouldn’t work…

Have a look on monj.co.uk for prices and reputable pharmacies. Read the trust pilot reviews and think about the sort of service you are looking for. You can also search here or on Reddit for pharmacy reviews. Remember that you can change pharmacy so are not tied in forever.

Join the October starters thread on here (if there isn’t one yet, maybe start one!) to find people in the same place as you.

Go for it and prepare to change your life!

Hi I’m currently on Wegovy have been for 3 weeks, week 1 I lost 4lbs and week 2 I lost 1lb.. I have had some mild side effects the first two weeks such as tiredness, feeling a bit nauseous nothing to bad and a bit of lightheaded ness but the food suppression was great. Week 3 I don’t know if I had a bug or anything but I did have a very painful ear and felt exhausted, dizzy and not right. Don’t think it was Wegovy though just a blip. I’m am going to swap to Mounjaro though as I found a local nurse prescriber who can do it cheaper than the online pharmacies. I’m going to take my last Wegovy next week then I need to have a 4 weeks such as rest before starting Mounjaro to make sure it is out of my system, I’d say go for it. I ordered with Med Express and can give you a £40 off code if you wish. Just PM me. Anyway good luck x

Started at 14 stones 10. Now 10 stones 4. Used Weprescribe because they used to price match and were cheapest. Message if you want a referral code.
I opted for mounjaro purely because I read it was the best for weightloss. I have averaged 2 pounds per week loss, started early February. Hairloss has been awful but I haven't really had any other side effects as until recently. (Last pen was 12.5mg but started to feel too strong so have come down to 10mg now I am closer to my goal).
I was nervous and 4 stones to lose seemed impossible. Now I have lost it I can't believe how easy it was to be honest!

montston · 29/09/2025 19:18

I felt like you and decided to buy pen snd try it for one week, one month if the side effects were not too bad.

It changed my life.

I have had no side effects. I have lost 7 stone. I have gained so very much. My life is worth something.

StrongLikeMamma · 29/09/2025 20:32

Op I feeing the same as you.
I weigh the same too.
It very tempting.
But am super worried about the long term side effects at the same time.

Do you think your hair will grow back?

MissPobjoysPonies · 29/09/2025 20:38

I was so nervous - it has been transformative and I LOVE it, I’ve lost 3 stone in 10 months, although I could lose more (was 14-1 now 11-4) however I’m 50 and I think more loss could result in me looking older more quickly. Also I look fucking amazing at this weight 🤣 I’m 10-12 and delighted.

I was so worried about gall stones, side effects, allergies but it couldn’t have been easier. Genuinely.

My only warning is the expense - in a new wardrobe, it’s worth every single penny.

I’ve also been thinking about trying them. It wasn’t til I started using MN that I realised lots of people are using them. I’m at a similar starting point to you OP, just under 14 stone and 5’ 6”. Would love to be around ten stone - but when I read of people being 9 stone something it makes me hopeful! X

MissPobjoysPonies · 29/09/2025 21:32

Look at some of the starter threads a genuinely people are so honest so you will get a fully rounded view of taking MJ/wegovy

Do you think your hair will grow back?

I hope so. I have just started taking pumpkin seed oil supplements which I hope will help. I already take collagen and have done for ages. I am also hopeful otbwill come back as I reduce my dosage to find a maintenance dose.

MeridaBrave · 29/09/2025 22:12

By one pen and see if you like it. If you don’t then don’t continue. You don’t know unless you try. I’m using Swift pharmacy and happy with them.

Has anyone actually consulted their GP for advice before trying the WL jabs?

Has anyone actually consulted their GP for advice before trying the WL jabs?

Do you mean advice on WLI specifically or on weight loss prior to that?

Mine would not discuss it with me. It’s a private prescription.

Read through the August 25, September 25 and October 25 starter threads. They are the ones closest to you and your concerns etc.

Before I started in November 24 and watched the August 24 to October 24 threads to understand what was going on and what might happen.

good luck @RachSt12 and join your month’s starter thread. There’s always fantastic support on the starter threads.

Am seriously considering it this week. Feeling so fed up of constantly exercising and obsessing over healthy eating without the scales budging!

Morning,
I took my first jab yesterday! It was ok and not painful.
It was like a switch for me, food suppression started and I was not hungry at all.
Come and join us on the October starter group if you decide to go ahead ☺️
