Anyone got injections for losing 1 stone?

I’m perimenopause and cannot shift the weight, it’s really affecting my mental health. I’m a short ass so it really shows the extra weight. BMI 25.5/26.
Ive started to socially withdraw due to weight
Would I be able to get the injections?

Most people are accessing this privately. You don’t get to skip the prescribing criteria.

These famous folk obviously do 🤷‍♀️, so it’s possible.

I just mean how is it “ safe “ or “ acceptable “ for someone who is now only 9 stone after weight loss to be able to still get munjaro etc but for someone who only wants to lose a stone to get from 10 to 9 stone is not allowed ?

Edited

Someone who has been on it a long time has been taking it a long time and is tolerant to it so they can keep taking it. Also reiterate what others have said about the risks of obesity for cancer, heart disease and diabetes is a lot higher and so the side effects and risks of WLI are worth it compared to diseases like cancer and diabetes leading to early death.

Someone ask why a person at bmi 27 can get it but not at 25.5-26, the bmi 27 is only is they have a specific health condition like prediabetes, pcos, underactive thyroid etc which WLI work to resolve, for everyone else it does have to be at obesity which is 30 or over.

I'm now bmi 23.9, i was 32.4 and prediabetic and perimenopausal when starting, my blood sugars were very high and I had a lot of symptoms and was often ill with respiratory infections, I had 7 infections in a 6 month period and was also in hospital at some point.
With prediabetes my mental health was also poor with anxiety and brain fog, I craved carbs all the time as i wasnt producing enough insulin and i also have heart disease in my family.
This has been life saving for me, I haven't had an infection since starting it and my symptoms have gone.
I'm staying on a low dose before coming off completely as I've lost a lot of hair and it makes me very tired. I have dropped down doses as they are now too high for me. I will then go down the exercise and high protein low carb route and see how i get on without it due to the side effects. Looking back I know had to do it as i struggled to lose without it having done Joe wicks body coach solid for 6 weeks and calorie tracking and only lost 2lbs, my body was struggling and I kept getting dizzy spells and craving carbs, now I don't get that as it has corrected my insulin. At bmi 23.9 I'm not even normal due to my ethnicity it has to be below 23!

Honestly I'd recommend try what you can without it, do the diet and exercise route if you can I.e. if you don't have a health condition, as it's not easy, it's still hard work and I feel like I've been on a strict diet for almost a year and had side effects, some have a lot of GI issues like vomiting, constipation, nausea and some more serious like pancreatitis etc

You can skip the criteria. Doctors can prescribe off license. You just can’t use the online pharmacies.

Are the doctors who prescribe it listed under weight loss management or similar? I
want it.

I don’t know the names.. Watch the Channel 4 documentary about the WLI. I know it’s still going on.

It would be far cheaper to lie - tick the PCOS box, and add some weight to give yourself a BMI of 27. If you need to take photos put on many layers. Or if you have to stand on the scales for a call have some thing down back of trousers.

Do they need evidence of PCOS tests?
Because that is the only thing stopping me from doing exactly what you posted (along with taking two inches from my height which would put me in the obese category). My BMI is 26.3.

Hey OP, I did it to lose 1 stone but you have to fib to get it. I took a few inches off my height, added enough to my weight to make BMI over 30 and then sent in a comedy photo showing me looking a lot larger than I was. I didn’t doctor the photo, I wore layers of clothes under a tight top and jeans with a towel around my waist and puffed out my cheeks and although I thought it rather obvious, the pharmacy clearly didn’t care and prescribed MJ with no issues.

I found the 2.5mg pen sufficient for weight loss but I’d bought a bundle deal so had a 5mg pen too. I found the 5mg too much though so have used that pen up using half doses (30 clicks). I’ve not enjoyed the side effects but it was worth it.

And this is part of the problem. The more people fiddle the evidence like this, the harder it will become for those who genuinely need it. I help DH ti take his photos etc for his prescription. He recently changed to a different pharmacy and they required a photo of him with his top lifted up and his stomach on show, as well as one where they could see his feet on the scales and read the weight. It really worries genuine patients when more stringent rules are put in place because of dishonest people who are not obese. This is the only thing that has worked for him and his health is improving now.

The Healand clinic, mentioned upthread, seems to be the main one.

Don't worry. There are threads and threads on here about people hoarding it and micro dosing it because they are on unnecessarily high dosages, using syringes to adjust the prescribed dosages etc.
There is plenty for everyone now.
And there is talk of that they are developing a pill so it will be cheaper and easier to distribute.

CafeDuck · 26/09/2025 17:31

It’s only a matter of time until they lower the required BMI so sit tight and I’m sure you’ll get your turn on the magic juice

There are independent private doctors who will prescribe kwikpens.

The Healand clinic is decanting to little stringed and selling micro doses eg 0.5mg for £175 a month. Not entirely why anyone signs up to that??

They did not ask for evidence of PCOS. I have a letter from 2002 from a private doctor (came off the pill and several months later trying to work out why no periods). It’s not even on my NHS record. But I do still have the consultants letter. I wasn’t asked for it. I think better to add to weight than reduce height as weight changes but height doesn’t!!

Thank you. I never thought about that with changing the height! I know people who go it that way so thats what I figured I'd do.

But there aren’t any shortages now so not really sure what the problem is.

No that won’t happen. 🙄

Will hold my hands up and say my DP uses Tirzepatide but the compounded version rather than Eli Lily. He’s dandy. Had blood tests, seen certificates of analysis for the product and has lost 2st so far. Hopefully when the patent runs out it will be more affordable for everyone.

AramintaWildbloode · 26/09/2025 19:04

So hacked off with people of this bmi thinking they should take mounjaro.
It is like somebody who has stubbed their toe complaing to someone with no leg.
Get a grip.
Anybody can lose one stone.
It’s this sort of scenario which gives the drug a bad name.

Yes, I really doubt there's any likelihood we'll see restriction of current access to MJ. So many people are doing very well indeed out of it. There's just no benefit.

You genuinely think an "organisation" illegally producing, importing, transporting, supply drugs through god knows what channels also give out trustworthy COA's?

The legal drugs have so many regulations around their raw materials, production, quality control and supply chain for good reasons, your dh's mystery chemical in a bottle has no such regulations for his safety.

Hope your dp stays in good health with the risks he is taking.

I don’t get the way some people almost gatekeep WLI.

I couldn’t give a fig what people do, it’s their own risk to take and does not affect me.

I also think it’s a bit rich to say to someone oh losing a stone is easy (without MJ) when you have an additional tool with MJ.

Like I said everyone takes their own risks don’t they? You can have peptides tested quite easily. I inject other peptides though so not really adverse to it all. I know so many people using compound version of the drug. It’s not going away anytime soon.

Why are you hacked off with me? Yes I took it to lose 10kg.

I’ve spend my whole life with food noise fighting the urge to eat. It takes up so much of my mental load. I was managing until menopause (well diet kick each Jan to April, spent 3 months starving, weighing everything, logging MFP etc gain in back May to December. I eat healthily (no UPF, minimal grains no sugar) I exercise daily (weights and cardio) I eat protein / fibre. To stop myself from gaining I have to weigh all food and obsess about it. And since menopause despite HRT and a totally whole food diets, and really trying to cut back on snacking I just can’t lose.

Why can’t I take a drug that means I am freed from this? Why does that hack you off? Don’t you think if it was so easy “just to lose a stone” I wouldn’t spend £170 a month on WLI? Since starting WLI I haven’t weighed food. I just manage to eat less. I’m not constantly hungry or thinking about food.

The GPhC put out new rules in (I think) April, most of the pharmacies have not been inspected since the new rules, they are still trying to comply with them.

Oushk initially failed and ended up in enforcement and had to change their evidence for prescribing quite significantly. The now do BMI verification video calls with customers every 6 months. I remember them saying the GPhC also challenged them for transferring patients who were BMI<30 for proof they were originally eligible saying previous prescribing was not enough proof.

If you are planning to switch providers again, while you dh is still BMI>30 I would make sure you have evidence of that, whether that is through copies of Drs records or whatever you can get independently verified so you are covered as other pharmacies under go their inspections and perhaps change their processes to meet the new rules.

I don't doubt it is not going away. I doubt the safety of it. But as you say, it's your risk injecting unknown substances into your bodies, as you have no way of knowing each time what you have received, and your consequences. Good luck.

Personally I think anyone injecting unknowns into themselves think they are being clever but are in fact spectacularly naive. It sounds like you have been poorly influenced by those around you.
