Anyone got injections for losing 1 stone?

I’m perimenopause and cannot shift the weight, it’s really affecting my mental health. I’m a short ass so it really shows the extra weight. BMI 25.5/26.
Ive started to socially withdraw due to weight
Would I be able to get the injections?

No

ForLoveNotMoney · 25/09/2025 19:06

If you’d have done the research you’d know the answer is a solid no.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 25/09/2025 19:12

I am sorry but these threads get me every time 😂

WeAllHaveWings · 25/09/2025 19:12

Not legally or safely.

TheRealGoose · 25/09/2025 19:15

Op, yes pop to your gp or local pharmacy, they will be happy to prescribe anti obesity medication to someone not obese, you could also ask for some prescription painkillers when you’re there too, or anything else you fancy,

CosyRoby · 25/09/2025 19:16

I don’t know why the laughing emojis.
I feel exactly the same OP , same kind of height and weight and the extra stone is really dragging me down.
I feel like one month on one of these Weight loss treatments would be enough to kickstart me or actually fully lose the stone but I’m not allowed , even I purchase it myself …
Very frustrating

I think that the Op knows this very well but fancies starting a thread to get everyone riled up.

CosyRoby · 25/09/2025 19:17

Also , see so many former obese people now at very slim target weights and are on a constant “ maintenance “ dose ?
Even though they are slimmer and lighter than me ?

I hear you, my sil gets really strong prescription painkillers, like happy pills they are and she sleeps like a log, but as I don’t have any chronic pain conditions I can’t get them, the frustration is off the charts, so I hear you, same thing, very frustrating for you as you’re not obese but want those drugs.

The key words are former obese, 😂

What’s the problem? The fact that people like me who spent ages struggling with morbid obesity can buy medication that finally supports them loosing weight.

Don’t worry someone will pop along shortly to warn us all that we are going to put every gram back on the minute we stop or that we are going to die from being on this long term 🥱

I just mean how is it “ safe “ or “ acceptable “ for someone who is now only 9 stone after weight loss to be able to still get munjaro etc but for someone who only wants to lose a stone to get from 10 to 9 stone is not allowed ?

Very safe as the risk of regain is very high and poses a huge health risk. The always a healthy weight person doesn’t have the same risk

DanceDanceRevolutions · 25/09/2025 19:28

Why the laughing emojis - this isn't unheard of.
Granted it's much more common in the States but there are clinics over here prescribing to people who aren't obese as well, through the guise of microdosing.

There have been several press articles on it and it's easy to find on social media too.

So yes, while you might struggle to get the standard MJ dose, clinics are prescribing to people with lower BMIs.

MeridaBrave · 25/09/2025 19:30

My BMI was 26.5. I couldn’t shift it. None of my pre menopause clothes fit. I ate a large carby meal the night before the weight it, I drank a lot of water, and I wore jeans. So yes my BMI was officially 27 - for around one day.

My cholesterol has dropped from 5.1 (just into the “too high” range to 3.6). I feel so so much better. I’ve lost 10kg (so more like 1.5 stone). I was diagnosed with PCOS years ago I put that down as a “co morbity”.

And yes, seeing my formerly obese friend now on a maintenance dose to maintain a BMI of around 19/20 did Make me realise that it clearly safe for non obese people.

I literally have zero idea why people get so wound up by this. Each to their own.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 25/09/2025 19:33

I can never find the bingo card when I want it.

Allegedly some people get around the prescription guidelines by buying stuff off hairdressers, nail technicians and Botox peeps. (honestly don’t do that as you never know what you will actually be injecting)

Dliplop · 25/09/2025 19:42

I’m pretty sure lots of people do it in countries where prescription medicine is over the counter. It isn’t tested. It isn’t recommended.

There are private doctors who’ll prescribe MJ kwikpens off license plus many people lie to
use online pharmacies.

So it’s safe if the OP’s weight rises so she has a BMI of 27? What about if the additional weight is 3kg of muscle from weight lifting??

She’d need to be proper going some to do that. And anyone who achieved that is unlikely to want wli.

Yes, yes would be a challenge - I’ve gained around 3-4kg of muscle in the last 3-4 years from very heavy lifting in the gym. Also sadly gained around 8kg of fat. I’ve used WLI, have managed to lose the fat and keep the muscle. I’m back to my pre menopause weight but with more muscle and less fat.

minipie · 25/09/2025 20:19

Until recently (6 months ago maybe?) I think it was fairly easy to get MJ at any weight. Lots of prescribers weren’t asking for photo or video evidence so people could just lie about their height/weight/other conditions and get it that way.

There are at least a couple of people I vaguely know who were not obese, just a bit padded, who are suddenly a LOT thinner (like teenager slim at 45). I would bet they’ve been using MJ.

However it’s now been tightened up and pretty much everywhere wants evidence.

But surely they’re not saying you shouldn’t have they are just querying if it’s suitable for those with less weight to lose but the weight loss is proving stubborn? I’m not sure why it’s such a wrong question to ask?

arcticpandas · 25/09/2025 20:31

Well, in the US you can get it. I think the legislator in the UK is worried about people becoming anorexic on them since you're never hungry. I have one friend who looks like Sharon Osbourne weightwise and she was mildly overweight when she started. She went to a private doctor and I think she got a high frim losing some weight and now she wants to stay on them for the rest of her life.

I’m diabetic so even though I’m now in the healthy BMI range I don’t have the ability to create enough insulin to effectively process the sugar in food. Mounjaro fixes that, it also helps with the fact that long term obesity fucked my metabolism. I wish I had never gotten obese, as I’m sure everybody who ever dealt with it does, but the fact remains that it happened, it had lifelong effects on my body and no matter what the situation is now I can’t take back or undo the damage done so now I need to control for it through medication.

You have choices available to you, if you want to enjoy the benefits of weight loss injections just have a few months eating more than you need, become obese and then get a prescription. I’m sure you’ll have a great time, find losing the weight really easy and feel gratified that you’ve been able to enjoy easy no effort weight loss.
