Anyone else not experiencing appetite suppression on mj?

I’ve been on Mounjaro in total for over a year now but not found I’ve had much appetite suppression. I did lose nearly 3 stone in 7 months whilst building up to 15mg ising a lot of willpower. I did find I had less sugar cravings. In the following 5 months didn’t lose or gain anything. I continued the jabs as didn’t want to gain before my son’s wedding. I had a 2 month break in which time my sugar cravings returned with a vengeance and I regained 9lbs. I started again at 2.5 now on 5 and not experiencing any appetite suppression or weight loss at all. I am sticking to a fairly strict calorie deficit (through willpower rather than suppression) but still not lost any weight. Any advice please??

If you’re not losing in a calorie deficit then there must be an underlying issue. Have you seen your GP for bloods?

Fluffypiece · 25/09/2025 18:07

Sorry to hear that op. Like you I don’t get any suppression but the slower emptying has helped me not to snack at night - I am losing weight though. Would be worth as others have said checking with your dr

I've never experienced appetite suppression on MJ. I have been taking it just over a year.

That's really interesting. Do you mind me asking how you make it work to lose weight if no suppression?

Do you take it for diabetes ?

Summergarden · 25/09/2025 19:17

I’m on 15mg now too and am pretty sure my suppression is minimal if any now. I’m hungry a lot of the time and it’s only willpower making me manage to stick to a calorie deficit to be able to lose a little still (but only a small deficit as am so hungry).

I think I’m trying to convince my set here’s a placebo effect helping me to lose while still on it rather than just me dieting as in the past, especially as it costs so much!

I’m nearly at target now though, have lost 7.5stone in 13 months.

bugalugs45 · 25/09/2025 19:20

I’ve been on it almost a year and experienced very little suppression , but have found it limits my snacking and also don’t fancy alcohol ( wine ) anywhere near as much .

I am 3.5 stone down but also am a lot more active so that’s played its part too

@ItstheHRTpat and @TheRealGoose

I'm not diabetic, but did have horrible insulin resistance. I follow a strict keto way of eating which, by default, makes me fast/time restricted eating type thing. I eat 2 meals a day (fairly large meals) and if I want a "snack"; dessert; something sweet, I have it after a meal, to keep insulin spikes down.

I love this way of eating and hopefully it is setting me up for maintenance/life beyond MJ.

I am 2 pounds away from 6 stone (so fairly slow weight loss compared to others), with another 2 stone to lose to get to target.

Try a longer needle. They say 4mm is good for everyone but it’s not. Try 8mm. Pinch the fat. Inject into the pinched fat and hold it there for a few seconds after it’s all gone in.

it’s def worth a try as this has worked for my son was but getting any impact at all. Yes now dropped down ti 10mg and said he could probably even be at 7.5. It has to get into the subcutaneous and some people have a thicker epidermis and dermis layer

Surely if you’re lost 7.5 stone in a year then it’s doing something no?

Bipaloss · 25/09/2025 22:47

As you did take 15mg I assume you are not diabetic

depends on how your hormone and pancreas reacts. I read some where that if you are a Diabetic that the weight loss is less as the weightloss side is a side effect to the stabilising blood sugar so worth checking that

also if it is not wlorkign and not related to the above might be worth trying wegovy as some who switched between the two and one didn’t work had more success

GloryGloria · 25/09/2025 23:31

I don’t get suppression but have eradicated food noise. I don’t have a problem feeling hungry a few times a day as that’s ‘normal’ - I have also dropped my nightly 2 glasses of wine which was a key part of the food noise - and the wine was accompanied with choc & crisps - so juts that alone is about 1000 cals a night saved.

Imissgoldengrahams · 26/09/2025 07:37

I don't have any suppression and I am still hungry. I have never experienced suppression
(Yes I eat protein rich meals)
I'm on 10mg but I am losing weight
If you aren't even losing weight there's probably no point continuing

macandcheeseforthewine · 26/09/2025 14:29

I also don't get suppression, and I still get food noise. I do get satiety, but only after my evening meal. When I went up to 10mg I had horrendous nausea so had to come back down to a lower dose (but by that point had hit my target weight).

I eat lower carb, eat plenty of protein and seem to have better willpower than before I was on the jabs (fortunately).

I'm on maintenance now (5mg) and am way too scared to come off! I've lost 5 stone.

That's very interesting and helpful information. Thank you.
