Anyone else had this? Constant bouncing

I started on Mounjaro in early February and have lost 44lbs to date. I’m not complaining, I’m thrilled with this and happy for it to take as long as it takes to lost the next 20lbs or so to get to my rough goal of BMI 23. The weird thing is though that, although my Shotsy app says I’ve lost roughly 1.2lbs a week, the weight loss has almost always gone something like this -

Week 1 - 206lbs, Week 2 - 206llbs, Week 3 - 201lbs, Week 4 - 203 lbs, Week 5 - 203lbs, Week 6 - 199lbs etc.

So I’ll plateau for a couple of weeks, then have a ‘whoosh’, then go up again a couple of lbs, before it goes back down and the cycle continues. It’s been like this right from the start.

I haven’t had any breaks, I’ve gone up each month until I hit 15mg and then I went back down to 10 because I got whacked with side effects. I track everything and my meals are quite repetitive. I probably don’t drink enough but it’s hard to see how that could be causing this. I do have IBS so sometimes when the weight bounces back up I notice that I’m quite bloated too, but that’s not always been the case. I’m in my early thirties and no children, so shouldn’t be anything hormonal going on.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal? It’s fine while I’m on Mounjaro and not relying on willpower, but I do need to come off after my next pen due to the price increases and I’m scared that the scales behaving like this will cause me to throw in the towel.

Amazing work with your loss so far, well done!!

I didn’t personally have that ‘bouncing’ but it is really common from everything I’ve read!! Maybe use the time on the next pen to help yourself understand that fluctuations are totally normal and not a reason to give up? I’m aware that is hard but so much of this is played out in your head!

Have you looked at alternatives to stopping? Coming down a dose or switching for example?

My weight can do up and down a 1lb or two day to day depending various reasons (picture contains some).

A weekly weigh in you could just be having a "higher" day for whatever reason, as long as the longer trend is downwards that is what is important.

When I will still having periods I would notice my weight would increase/stay the same prior to/during period.

Have you tried weighing daily, if you do would will likely see it "bouncing" around all week - it is absolutely normal. Focus on long term trend.

I weighed twice a day for a while and my weight fluctuated madly. I think the biggest difference was going to bed 8lbs heavier than I had woken up that morning 🤣

I do consistently "gain" in the week leading up to my period then have a drop the week after and then it settles kinda in between for the rest of the time

Agree with you OP with the bouncing. It absolutely isn’t a linear line with me. Up, down and around the houses, quite independent of what I’ve eaten or how much water I’ve drunk. The general direction is downwards though at a reasonable 1-2 lbs a week so I’ve learnt to accept if not exactly embrace my bouncer status!

Mine has gone down, plateaued, gone up, plateaued, gone down etc so definitely not a steady continual downward trend.
I changed to weighing myself every morning, if I remember to, so I can see the fluctuations in case weigh in day once a week was on a bad day!
Overall I'm am losing weight but it's slow and tedious.
I'm short in my fifties so menopausal and have an office job tbh it's a bit brutal!

What are the side effects please?

All weight loss is tedious I think.
