Hi I've just ordered my first prescription of mounjaro, its due to be delivered on tues. I'm so nervous but excited. I've been going through a very difficult time and have gained so much weight, just comfort eating. Has anyone any tips or advice for a newbe? Thank you xx

Take photos and measurements now, so you can amaze yourself!

Mine arrived today, I felt really nervous but read the instructions and managed to convince myself to inject it. It did take a while to psyche myself up I won’t lie. I put some TikToks on about Mounjaro and that really helped, listening to the positive stories of people who had been worried helped me relax a bit.

I only took it 12 hours ago but so far I’m ok, I did feel really sick this afternoon and only managed to eat half of my meal (we’d pre arranged Sunday lunch with friends which wasn’t the best idea). I definitely feel like I’m reacting to something, but all very textbook from what I can see.

I just hope it works. It’s my last hope of getting to a healthy weight. Don’t be worried, I’m a massive over thinker and was convinced I’d either have anaphylactic shock or that the pain would be so bad I couldn’t do it again. I barely felt the needle and my reaction is very boring and text book. So try not to worry, it’s exciting.

Thank you 💞
I'm a massive over thinker too, wishing you luck on your journey. I feel this is my last hope too I just want to feel healthy. Good to hear it didnt hurt either hope i can say the same lol

So would advise joining the September starters thread in this section, and if you have more than 5 stone to lose there’s a long running thread too. If you have more than 10st to lose there’s a long running thread as well.

My other bit of advice is to actually read both paper leaflets that come with the pen, and refer to them first if you have a question. You’d be amazed how many people don’t seem to.

EmmaMcC8 · 22/09/2025 00:15

Thank you, will look that up and try and join didnt know about that. I want to lose about 3 stone to get me back to a healthy bmi

Drink lots of water. Read the threads! There’s so much support and good information for newcomers and all along the way. Best of luck!

Think of how you’re going to do this, combined with the drug. Decide whether you want to count calories or follow another type of diet (I do clean eating, just whole, healthy food). Make sure you have everything you need for a good start.

I’m feeling quite good thank you - I woke up and didn’t feel hungry, not sick though and I was surprised. I did eat though as I know I needed to, I then had a small snack mid morning but couldn’t face lunch. Tea was chicken and rice, I managed about a 3rd of what I’d normally eat. I’ve had 3 lts water and included an electrolyte dissolvable with one of them. The biggest thing I’ve noticed is that tonight I haven’t wanted to raid the cupboards, I’m
feeling really full and have no desire to eat. It’s so strange but so good!

Yesterday I felt a bit headachy and the nausea was noticeable. I feel like the nausea has replaced hunger, so eating a little snack when I felt sick helped to make it go away.

Good luck with making a start - it’s daunting but I’m just taking it one day at a time. I’ve started keeping a food diary to make sure I’m eating healthily enough, I can see how people become nutrient deficient doing this. My friend said she always leaves the carbs in a meal until last as they fill her up fast.

Good luck with your journey! I started at the end of January, have lost over 6 and a half stone and am at my goal now. I use the app Calorie Tracker and have logged my foods all the way through, but different people do it in different ways. The best thing is it stabilised my menopause symptoms too! Finger crossed for you!

What supplier are you using OP? I was going to start but discovered Boots and MedExpress both had delays due to supply issues so assumed most other suppliers would be the same for a while.
Good luck!

@72toolbelt the heart burn is likely being caused by the slow gastric emptying that is one of the effects of Mounjaro. Apparently, according to a quick internet search, strenuous physical activity can make heart burn worse, so that may be a factor in your situation. If you search for advice on managing heart burn with Mounjaro you will find lots of advice, like this article for example:

Trust and enjoy the process! You will see and feel results.

The drug will sort out your appetite.

You just have to increase activity, eat well and drink more water.

EmmaMcC8 · 23/09/2025 15:41

@familyornotgood to hear your doing well, i only took mine yesterday lunchtime and didnt have any urge to raid the cupboards either was definitely a strange but good feeling. Night time when the the kids are in bed is usually my worst. Great idea with the food diary idea.

Fingers crossed I've not has any bad symptoms.... even afraid to type that lol. Good luck
