Please hit me with your easy MJ-friendly family dinners!
Kids won’t eat fish 😭
It feels like we’re living on variations of grilled chicken atm and I’m losing the will!!

we just eat normal meals at dinner. I decided when I started MJ that I would manage my cals during the day but whatever was for dinner that night I would eat (my husband does most of the cooking). He mainly cooks from scratch but does a couple of easy meals on busier work days - I’ve lost 3 stone in 6 months - not fast but sustainable I think. Just looking back at my food diary this is what we’ve had (I’m veggie but eat fish)

Frittata with cabbage and peas (plain omelette for picky eaters)
pesto lentils with garlic bread (fast800 recipe)
ikea meatballs with mashed potato, broccoli and gravy
Glass noodle and peanut salad (from Bosch cookbook) picky kids had noodle hard boiled eggs and raw veggies
homemade pizza
breaded fish and potato wedges
sweet potato and chickpea curry - some kids had jar curry sauce with chicken
spaghetti bolognese (lentil for veggies, meat for others)
chilli

I have four picky kids aged 15 - 4 - one eats what we eat the others eat variations on the evening meal.

I cook as normal but eat less. I may do myself a lean pork steak instead of a sausage.

We had lasagna yesterday, on the higher end of what I should eat so I take it into account with lunch.

I've been having Heck chicken sausages for sausage meals, not adding extra fat to things like potatoes, having pasta sauces with chickpeas or other pulses instead of pasta, having small servings of wholegrain carbs, and if the meal has very little protein, I've been having a very small portion of what everyone else is having and topping it up with a protein yogurt. And making things balance over a day rather than a meal.

Very similar situation to @Incognitoburrito88 in that I eat whatever dinner is being cooked for me by Dh. Everything is self served so dishes put in the middle of the table.
I don’t eat bread/pasta/potatoes at lunch but will have a small serving of one of those with my evening meal.
If I do happen to have a carby lunch I’ll cut back on that in the evening.
I have insulin resistant PCOS and managing carb intake is a good way of controlling weight gain - the MJ makes it much easier to do that!
But really we just have normal dinners, so far this week we had a Sunday roast, toad in the hole (I didn’t have the mash on the side just the veg), lamp rump with veg and potatoes, chicken and rice and cabbage, last night was a carbonara - had a small serving of the pasta and some salad on the side to up the nutrition/greens.
Lunches I tend to have salads - roasted veg tossed with leaves and feta, grains mixed with the night before leftovers (again I’ll go light on carbs with dinner), fresh tuna steak with smashed cucumber salad on the side, prawn and avocado salad, just light but nutritious and getting some good protein in.

I'm just having normal (albeit small) meals and I'm 36 pounds down in 6 months and that's including pizza once a week!

So for family evening meals I'm just cooking what I would normally although I may tweak my portion slightly. Eg if we are having pasta and meatballs I'll have pasta or garlic bread, not both. And maybe 3-4 meatballs instead of previously 5-6.

Things like chicken curry Ill have rice or naan not both.

Chicken fajitas ill just have one whereas pre MJ it would have been 2-3

Once a week we have pizza and wedges, I'll have a quarter of a pizza whereas I used to have half and maybe 3 wedges rather than a massive pile!

Probably a takeaway once a month, I can't eat chippy chips any more but I usually get chicken in black bean or chicken chow mein and DH and I will share. Or I'll get soup and dumplings for myself so quite light

My portions have also decreased massively I'll use a side plate for my dinner now.
