If you never went over 2.5mg - how did you find stopping?

I am due to inject jab 17 of 2.5mg today. My starting weight was not much over 30 BMI and I am now at the higher end of 26. I've not been able to increase due to side effects.

I wouldn't say I have decent suppression at this dose any more, but nonetheless I am still eating around 1500 kcals a day which I have never been able to sustain previously. Treats have crept back in but tackled sensibly and I am losing weight slowly but steadily.

Now the million dollar question (or the £150 a month question): is the jab still helping me, or have I just gotten used to this new way of eating? I don't want to lull myself into a false sense of security.

If you did your whole journey on only 2.5mg, how did you feel when you stopped? Were you suddenly ravenous again? Will power is very much part of the equation at this dose (I know it is with other doses too)...but is the will power coming from the drug? It definitely was in the beginning, but now I am finding it hard to differentiate what's my body's new normal and what's the Mounjaro.

My appetite doesn't increase on days 5/6. It's just static. I don't feel excessively hungry this morning before I am due to jab, for example.

Ty for any experiences.

I stayed on 2.5g for my 5 stone weight loss and continue to maintain on it. I still feel it is helping me, I'd have regained it all by now like every other diet I've been on. Like you, I'm not quite sure how but I think I get a little suppression but you also read these positive things about heart health, digestion, joints, alcohol reduction, etc so plan to continue for the short term, maybe the long term if I can afford to. Or its psychological and its the idea of jabbing each week that keeps me honest?!

I didn’t go above 2.5 simply because I didn’t feel I needed to. Hit my goal weight then began injecting 2.5 every 10 days. Kept that up for a month, now dropped to 2 every 10 days. I’ve noticed the suppression has decreased (especially on days 8 and 9) and a couple of treats have crept back in, but like you said I’m tackling them sensibly and maintaining healthy habits so I’ve found my weight only fluctuates by a pound or two over the course of the week. Next step will be 1.75 every 10 days, and so on until I eventually come off it.

I only ever managed 2.5 for the six months it took me to get down to my target weight. I then cut down to 1.25 for two months and then forgot to inject so I decided to go cold-turkey and see how it went. I haven't taken any MJ since March and it's been ok.

I have to be very mindful about what I'm eating to ensure that I don't consume too many calories. When I was MJ it was an effort to eat at all, so that is obviously the biggest change. I do miss the absolute food silence, but not the side effects!

I'm currently 3 lbs over my target weight at the moment and I'm very strictly calorie counting to get back down again. I'm mid-50s so really can't eat that much without gaining. I love being slim though and have never in my life been as successful as this, so I am determined to stick with it.

There's a maintenance thread in the WLI threads where we all muse over how best to do it! I don't think there is a right or wrong way, it is trying to work out what is going to be easiest for each individual.

I'm just following the thread really, as I would like to stay on 2.5 ml too. I'm hoping to not take it for longer than 6 months. I've just finished my 4th week, and the suppression has definitely been less this week, but I've still been able to eat smaller portions and not do snacks/treats more or less.

I’m interested to know people’s experiences here too. I have taken 2.5mg for 10 months now and I feel I have a good balance of it keeping the noise away but not suppressing my appetite so I can eat a healthy diet. I have always considered o would take it long term but I think depending on how others are doing I might give it a go without once I get to a healthy weight

I’ve lost 4 stone in 7 months, now at a healthy bmi. Stayed on 2.5 for all of it but I’ve been reducing it gradually and the last 6 weeks I’ve got down to a third of 2.5. I’ve recently started spacing it to ten days instead of 7
and my increase in hunger since doing that is very noticeable unfortunately. I’m hoping I’ll adjust to it but I kind of knew maintenance may be tricky, for me I’ve never planned to stay on it for the longer term.

Thanks everyone. I think the sensible way forward (once I am ready to stop) is to titrate down from 2.5mg and drag out the dosing schedule to see how I am affected hunger wise. I'd hate to come off, lose my ability to get a prescription and then pile the weight back on 😬 I felt like I was always hungry before MJ.
