I Ordered some mounjaro from my friends aesthetic lady, it arrived... unlabelled vial of powder & a separate vial of water to mix it!
I know mj is only licenced in pen form so got in touch with her to ask wtf it is.. she said its 100% mounjaro & tried to give me some bullshit about different suppliers & it being generic like nurofen & ibuprofen, which of course is bollocks.
She refused to take it back & my mate got all upset as its her botox lady and she doesnt want to piss her off etc so she said she'd just give me the money & she'd take it herself.
Whatever.
But wtf ... people are actually taking this shit! What even is it?
The needles & syringes she chucked in the bag weren't even sealed. I don't understand how places are getting away with selling this stuff

Also “all the deaths”… which deaths are you referring to exactly and how do you know if they weee taking Eli Lily licensed version or the compounded version?

it was very much made my American pharmacies and the FDA did allow it due to shortages at Eli Lily so I’m sorry but you must be able to get the compound Tirzepatide?

You can google it, you really don’t need to ask people to do it for you. The USA for example publishes their stats. The number of deaths and causes. The same as the other stats you’re asking for, google is your friend. I’m not sure you will find people on line willing to google for you really.

tgif1 · 12/09/2025 14:38

Probably the compound peptide Tirzepatide, MJs active ingredient. I know quite a few people taking the stuff if I’m honest. None seem to be having any ill effects but obviously it is a gamble/risk. Some people willing to take it, others not. You can send peptides off to be tested in a laboratory which should tell you the compound and its purity. Costly though.

I have heard of people using this too - there’s a guy basically advertising it on TikTok.

WatchingTheDetective · 13/09/2025 07:52

I'm really laughing at the thought of her being an independent prescriber. That's absolute bullshit. I think people like that should be in prison.

IGaveSoManySigns · 13/09/2025 08:58

So I know someone at work who gets the vials. She claims that it’s the same stuff, just from abroad. I think in America they can compound it? But she says it’s from Europe.

It’s absolutely insane that you’re willing to inject a random substance.

Is she losing weight?

xanthomelana · 13/09/2025 09:34

Sounds like Reta to me. There’s loads of people pushing it on TikTok, there’s a grey area which means you can buy it even though it’s still in the trail stages. The trail results look promising but I wouldn’t touch it until it’s been approved for use.

There’s no grey area. It is illegal to sell or supply it in the UK.

No it’s illegal in the USA now too due to safety concerns. The fda has not approved.

It’s illegal when it becomes a prescribed drug, when it’s still in the third phase trail it can be sold under research purposes and that’s how there’s so many people blatantly selling it. I’m not going to argue the rights and wrongs of it, I’ve already said I wouldn’t touch it until it’s out of the trail stages but what this beautician is selling sounds like reta to me from the videos I’ve seen. And no I’ve not gone looking for it, my algorithm includes mounjaro and I follow a lot of people who take mounjaro so it took me to reta.

Permittedperson · 12/09/2025 14:30

So you bought a prescription only medication off a friends beautician and you’re surprised that it’s dodgy?

My Botox lady is a an advanced nurse practitioner so she can legitimately prescribe Botox. That’s not actually all that unusual.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 13/09/2025 11:00

You've been a bit naive op. But id be reporting this chancer, don't know who to? Trading standards?

MJsidekick · 13/09/2025 11:23

Buying injectables (botox, etc) from all these random "beauty" places scares me and i don't even use botox. I can't imagine going to buy GLP-1 from them no matter what.

OP you were already taking a risk with making that purchase. You're lucky it was so obvious to you when it arrived disassembled. It could have been worse - been in an injectable whatever but still something dodgy.

There are fb groups and subreddits for those who do this compound thing but they're mainly Americans and a handful of British people I've seen asking questions. I usually lurk out of curiosity. You need to know what you're doing to do these things but I'd still not recommend it because most people don't.

breakfastdinnerandtea · 13/09/2025 11:30

I have known a few nurses (of all people!!!) who have bought MJ from beauticians that came exactly like this. Unlabelled powder plus water/saline to mix it with. They actually took it… As a HCP, absolutely no way don’t take it, please!! Most of my colleagues can’t believe how stupid these nurses have been mixing their own unlabelled drugs and actually injecting them into their bodies. It could have literally been anything.

Even if a substance is not yet classified as a POM, it is still considered a medical product which needs to be licensed in uk and therefore illegal to sell except under very strict conditions for research. Anyone selling illegal unlicensed drugs can be reported to MHRA and prosecuted.

unsync · 12/09/2025 14:40

I'd also be concerned about the legitimacy of the botox she uses. It's not that much of a reach is it? In your position, I would be reporting her.

This.
How strong is your friendship? Because if it’s someone you don’t mind cutting off, I’d just report the lady. Clearly not licensed to sell this.

No that isn’t correct. People are clearly doing it, but there is no legal loophole that makes it permissible.

It is a medicine, and sale and supply of medicines - licensed or unlicensed - is strictly controlled. The people obtaining for “research purposes” may not be breaking the law by purchasing it (although they probably are, as are the people supplying it to them). However the people obtaining it for “research purposes” are definitley breaking the law by selling it on.

tgif1 · 13/09/2025 13:56

That’s not what I was replying to though. Yes an initial prescription for Botox has to be prescribed but the injector doesn’t have to be a medic to actually inject people.

CarefulN0w · 13/09/2025 14:08

I’m not sure if OP will be back, but anyone wanting to check if someone is a genuine independent prescriber can check the relevant public register.

For Nurses the NMC, for Pharacists the GPHC and for Paramedics and others it’s the HCPC.

Tiredofwhataboutery · 13/09/2025 14:11

I think this sort of thing is bonkers . There was a beautician who injected folk with some off brand mix it yourself Botox and a bunch had to go to hospital!

I could. But this is a chat forum, not some academic research facility. You want to know more, google it. I am not going to sit and do it for you. Actually laughing that you think you can get folks to be your admin assistant on a chat forum. 😂

MeridaBrave · 13/09/2025 22:09

Wow. Very worrying. Also insane that it wasn’t cheaper.

I assumed people would use as it’s much cheaper. Even if not eligible either get a friend to buy or lie about weight or there are private doctors who will supply out of license.
