Mounjaro and holidays

I'm onto week six now dose is 5, and over 1stone down. I have had a long weekend booked for over a year now (the weekend after next) with a very fancy meal out. I am really struggling to eat any more than 800 calories a day and nothing at all fatty. Has anyone skipped a week to go on holiday for instance? I have googled and it seems like it might be OK but would like to know if anyone has tried it and how it went?

I skipped because the logistics of taking it on holiday were too much! It was fine.

Radiatorvalves · 10/09/2025 13:55

I skipped but really didn’t fancy eating much at all even in the week after the missed jab.

BadgerFace · 10/09/2025 13:58

I didn’t want to fly with my own so injected a day later than usual when I got home and then injected after 6 days to get me back to my usual day the following week. I felt fine even though the 6 day injection was 6mg rather than the usual 5mg (as I used the golden dose in the pen).

The instruction leaflet says: “But we know schedules can change. If you want to change the day of the week you take your dose, make sure there are at least 3 days (72 hours) between doses.
If you miss a dose of Mounjaro, take the missed dose as soon as possible within 4 days (96 hours) after the missed dose. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and take your next dose on the regularly scheduled day. Do not take 2 doses of Mounjaro within 3 days of each other.”

How many days late will you be?

Booksandcheese · 10/09/2025 15:45

@BadgerFace I won't be late taking it, we are away for the weekend and i currently take it on a Monday so could take it no problem, I just wanted to be able to enjoy the meal on Saturday out without being full after a few bites 🙃 so was thinking of just skipping one dose. But if its not going to have any effect on the suppression I may as well just keep taking it as normal and hope for the best! Fish might be my friend on the menu.

Ah I see! I think missing a week at 5mg should not give you any side effects or you could take a half dose on that Monday for 2.5mg so you don’t go cold turkey down from 5mg if you’re worried.

I’m on week 15 having done 2 months at 2.5mg and now on 5mg and I’m pretty sure I’d be fine if I have to skip a week.

Have a great weekend away!

Maybe just order a starter to come with the other guests main meal and enjoy the experience without having too much on your plate, i find this usually works for me.

@Booksandcheese I went away for 10 days recently and missed a dose (currently on 5mg). My appetite came back with a vengeance and I ate and drank quite a lot. Got home and hadn’t put any weight on 🤷‍♀️ I’m really glad I missed that dose as I really enjoyed my food and it was nice to feel “normal” again for a few days!

20bloodypounds · 11/09/2025 14:54

Over the past year I've done this a few times when I've had a special ocassion coming up, and completely missed out on one dose. I still have some suppression, and eat slightly less, but I'm not so full that I can't enjoy my meal. But I am full by the time dessert is coming.

Booksandcheese · 12/09/2025 07:25

Thank you all.for the replies. I'm going to skip the dose for a week and see how it goes. I don't think I'll fall that much of the wagon in one week and I want to enjoy my wedding anniversary weekend feeling a bit normal. Ive not had any side effects so far so not worried about re starting after a week.

I find that very fancy meals aren’t that filling, particularly if you skip bread and sides. Unless it’s a 9 course taster or something

pub lunch much more of an issue.

I say this as someone that is using MJ.

Could you reframe this in your mind. It’s not some kind of punishment or hardship not to be able to eat a large meal. Instead order what you fancy, and then stop eating when you feel full. Yes, this will happen on MJ.

Why go out of your way to avoid the effect that you are investing good money into getting from the drug.

For me I see this as eating how naturally slim people usually manage to do, and is what I had struggled with all my life. I can enjoy all parts of my meal, but I can’t eat all of my meal.

rewardh · 12/09/2025 13:24

Why did you go up to 5mg if you are struggling to eat? Reduce you dose.
