Good Evening
I have been on Mounjaro for 2 months and I’ve lost 2 stone.
i have not had any of the usual symptoms BUT I have lost all water retention in my lower legs!
For years I was told this swelling was vascular and not connected to any heart problems. I was pleased my heart was OK.

But now I have no swelling at all. I feel healthy and my legs are
just not painful anymore. I hasten to add I have been the weight that I currently am before and I had water retention in both ankles.
i know loosing 2 stone will certainly help my legs but has anyone else had this unexpected symptom.

First 3-4 weeks hot swollen ankles and feet disappeared that I kept outside the duvet at night as too hot, soles of feet didn’t feel like walking on glass and I had skinny (relative to what they were before) ankles!

That and smooth elbows were the first two non scale changes I noticed.

It’s the hair loss that stops me from taking it. My hair is already thin enough.

My smooth elbows are because of Mounjaro? I thought that was just from using a different shower gel!

Spapeach · 08/09/2025 22:04

Yes me too, I do still have a bit of retention but my legs look sooooooooo much better than before! Also my KP is noticeably better.

PurpleChrayn · 08/09/2025 22:07

I’ve just felt my elbows and they’re smooth! Been on the Monj for nearly 3 months and never noticed.

HeidiLite · 08/09/2025 22:07

some studies have shown very good results in lymphedema treatment, so yes sounds plausible.

Soft elbows are definitely a side effect, so many people on MJ have said the same.

Have you tried it? I haven't had hair loss, side effects are in no way universal.

@Choux iirc it might be something to do with better blood sugar control and skin becoming more hydrated.

@PurpleChrayn you may find yourself stroking your lovely new elbows frequently over the next few days, the novelty does wear off in a couple of weeks! 😂

Flipping heck. I jabbed for first time Friday and my elbows are also smooth!

I feel like I've had a bingo card of side effevts...

But yes reduced inflammation/better blood flow/whatever has been my favourite.

I went from being in pain after 6-8 minutes walking and struggling daily to being able to walk properly. Every weekend even now 8months on I'm saying "look at this I'm walking!" or on a shopping trip "look I couldn't have done this with you before could I?" I'm still amazed it's lifechanging.

And yes the bloating went early on!

It's one of the things making me nervous to ever come off (not that I'm there yet!)

And I'm fearful of trying wegovy but I'll give it til I get closer to goal - then maybe the switching between drugs will be more established... I'll be so upset if I can't maintain.

Financially we're now finding it hard - it feels like a living version of black. Mirror - how much do I value health....

Week 5 for me, over a stone gone. My unexpected symptom is amazing sleep. I sleep like a log (except a toilet trip as I’m drinking loads of fluids) and then wake up super early feeling ready to go.

Although the great sleep could also be the fact I haven’t touched alcohol since I started the jabs - I just don’t crave it anymore, which I guess has been another life-changing benefit.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 09/09/2025 15:26

Yes, smooth elbows, improved keratosis pilaris and fewer ingrown hairs here! I also haven't had a psoriasis flare-up since I started the jabs. I think it's all related to the anti-inflammatory effect of the drug.

ShrankLastWinter · 09/09/2025 15:30

Yes, ankle swelling reduced very quickly. Much faster than weight loss would explain.

Oh, my elbows are smooth!! That’s weird af

Ineedanewsofa · 09/09/2025 15:35

OMG how have I not noticed the improvement in my elbows before now?! That’s amazing!
My water retention and bloating noticeably improved in the first month. I’m 12.5kg down after 8 weeks and very few negative side effects (no increase in hair loss for example) and so many positive ones including a massive improvement in my gynaecological symptoms which tbh makes it worth it regardless of anything else

Oh god, that’s not good, did you ensure you were eating enough protein? That’s generally the root cause. No pun intended, Sorry you went through that and had to stop , it’s not a common symptom and tends to be due to lack of nutrients.

😮I hadn't noticed this before! But, yes my elbows are really smooth.

Mezzoprezzo · 09/09/2025 17:55

I've also just stroked my elbows and yes, they are smoother!
Weird one, has anyone noticed increase mucus since starting mounjaro? It's happening every week for 2-3 days after the injection. No cold symptoms, just snotty!

DBatteryBand · 09/09/2025 18:00

Smooth elbows here, too. And I can suddenly manage to get up off the floor unaided. I keep doing it, just because I can. It’s driving my teenager mad. 😀

Icecreamlover63 · 10/09/2025 07:22

Elbows - just checked very smooth
Odema - gone!
Hair Loss - none
Nausa - intermittent
But overall I feel so much better and not just for the weight loss.
