Mounjaro Week 2 Query

lovelight19 · 03/09/2025 14:33

Hi all

Hoping for some experiences on mounjaro in the early stages. Following extensive research, I finally took the plunge and started on mounjaro. Week one was good, I had immediate strong suppression of appetite and loss of 'food noise' for about 4 days (manageable side effects too) after which it wore off. I took my second jab yesterday, but noticed no real change in how I was feeling. No return to suppression (or side effects) and the food noise is very much there.

Can I ask if this was the norm for anyone else? I'm very much in this for the long haul, and know this is a drug that the body can take a long time to adjust to, but I just wanted to see if the sudden impact hit but then wore off for anyone else, and if this settled back to increased suppression again (with or without increase in dose).

I'm very much using mounjaro as a weight loss tool, alongside a change in diet and an increase in exercise. I just want to make sure I'm getting things right with it too though.

Thanks all x

I am 13 weeks in and I would just trust that it will be fine. You body is still getting used to it and you need to stay on 2.5mg for 4 weeks (at least). If you are in a calorie deficit you will lose weight. I use myfitness pal to track my calories and found that helpful to see portion size etc and track protein. Good luck!

As you said this is a long term medication and honestly the first few days were likely placebo effect, just focus on diet now, and get the first month under your belt before you move to the full lowest dose of 5mg.

MeridaBrave · 03/09/2025 16:52

2.5mg is a starter dose, so common not to have much suppression.

Time4changeagain · 03/09/2025 17:13

Just give the jab a bit of time, It takes between 8 & 72hrs to reach its peak levels in your system. The drug also has a half life of 5 days which will be why the effects felt reduced.

You can look on the shotsy app and track the levels in your system

It took me to reach the 10 mg pen before I can honestly say I felt any real suppression. Until then, it did help me feel a little bit fuller for longer after eating, but I felt I was doing a lot of the heavy lifting for the first 3 months - probably 70% me and 30% MJ.
Pen 4 (10mg) what’s the turning point for me and I didn’t increase beyond that.

Thank you all so much for your replies. They are so reassuring and remind me this is a marathon not a sprint! The feeling of losing the suppression I had has been a little unnerving but your words really help. I think I'm more than a little guilty of over analysing my every feeling and I need to relax! I'm sure that'll come, but maybe not till I hit 5mg!!🤣

As people have said above, 2.5 and 5 did very little for me. 7.5 was great for a month and then I hit my sweet spot at 10mg and stayed on that for 4 months. I’ve just gone up to 12.5 purely because nobody has 10 in stock! Stick with it - you’ll find the dose that makes the difference for you.

When I first started and until the higher doses like 12.5 and above, it would always take 2 days after jabbing for the suppression to kick in and I was ravenous hungry from days 5 to 7 and then days 1-2 and 2.5mg only lasted 2 weeks of satiety for me and I didn't feel decent suppression until 5mg. I was prediabetic so needed higher doses. Made it all the way to 15mg!
Try to relax. Tracking food will help you keep on track, I was strict with my calories and lost almost every week in my 48 week journey so far because of this. Higher protein and low carbs always brings better losses for me.

Thanks again all. Your patience with my query and reassurance much appreciated. This has felt a big deal for me to make the choice to do this, and your experiences are so helpful. I'm a born worrier so I should have expected I'd worry about this!! ☺️
