Can't believe we filled up a whole thread! Welcome to thread 2.

On a positive note to start us off, I've lost 1lb of the two that I gained from my autumnal apple crumble caper. Filling full of resolve and pleased to know I can gain a pound or two (which is of course completely normal) and then lose them again.

I’m nearly at goal now and wondering about those who’ve been there for a while what your experience of skin laxity is? Most of my face and body is ok laxity wise but the backs of my legs I feel sort of flap in the wind!! I work out and taking collagen and eating a lot of protein etc. Does it sort of catch up with your weight loss? Or have you tried treatments to help that have either worked or definitely not worked! Thanks lovely ladies xx

I'm 45 and do strength work a couple of times per week. I have definitely noticed some improvement since I started maintenance at the end of May. I don't know if it's time, the strength work or a combination. It is still quite crepey and wobbly on upper arms and thighs and belly but I'm hopeful with time it will continue to improve. I have definitely got slimmer despite staying the same weight during the maintenance period and I realised today that I spent 5 months losing and 5 months maintaining so that's great (I'm still jabbing although didn't jab whilst on holiday and deciding when to jab next and what... I am so exhausted from the travelling that I can't make decisions this morning. I think I might base it on how many puddings I have tonight, if I can keep it to one I will delay jabbing until Monday and maybe just go for 1.25...(previously been on 2.5 per week). I put on 1.5lbs on holiday, so I'm happy with that.

@Choux Many thanks for your message. I have now created a new thread on the General Health topics. This will be easier than DM's as I use the App and have trouble using the website. @Lifecircle@Incognitoburrito88mmy main concern is that I am so anxious of surgery and hospitals. I would be most grateful if you answer my question if you have time on the general health thread I have just posted there.

I get access to the FT through my job and there is an article in there today about the race to launch a pill. Apparently Ely Lilly is hoping to file it's WL pill for approval later this year. Novo Norodisk is looking more like it will file next year. Astra Zeneca and Roche are also doing trials on WL pills. It isn't actually clear when any of them will be available for the consumer to actually take, but the implication is certainly within the next couple of years, if not next year.

So a few sod’s companies are trialing ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/10/2025 21:16

Ffs. Few different

MargoLivebetter · 31/10/2025 08:50

@Blondeshavemorefun lol, yes a few of the 'sods' are trialing. Sounded as though the two current WLI producers are the furthest ahead, but the article concluded saying that within 5 years that all options would be more widely available and cheaper.

First post of November and how is everyone doing? As the days get shorter and darker, is everyone managing to stay on track? How are those titrating down finding it is going?

I cannot explain the blissful relief from food noise that my piddling half dose of MJ is giving me! I definitely have some issue with intrusive food thoughts that is more than just emotional eating. I have intrusive thoughts about other things too, particularly when I am very stressed and I definitely have some OCD behaviours when under lots of pressure. I wonder if over the years I've got so accustomed to the food thoughts that I thought it was normal. Anyhow, lots to try an work out and consider.

Back from holiday and I’ve gained 4lbs. I’m hoping it’ll settle down to a smaller gain and I’ll be able to get back to my before weight. I’m still on 12.5 so it’s a bit worrying that I managed to gain on it! I did go up to 15 for a couple of weeks and I do think I’m finding12.5 less effective.

I’ve been to Aldi for some protein yoghurts and cold meat and I’m going to track again.

i did a tough hydro session and I’m going to try to do some upper body weight exercises. I’m having an operation on my hip in 10 days and my goal is to be back to pre holiday weight by then.

FurForksSake · 03/11/2025 13:03

@MargoLivebetter does sound like it’s giving you a fresh perspective. I’ve been reading the happiness trap and it makes me notice how often I try and push down thoughts and emotions instead of acknowledging and sitting with them.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/11/2025 13:14

I’m def hungrier on 5

ate 8 biscoff biscuits yesterday and hungry after a lamb shank roast 🙀😢

That usually fills me

I said on auggies I may end up gaining this week but hopefully still be in my ballpark

MargoLivebetter · 03/11/2025 13:22

@FurForksSake and @Blondeshavemorefun there's no doubt maintenance needs constant vigilance! I just can't have yummy stuff like biscoff biscuits in the house because I don't trust myself. The treats I buy for the adult offspring still lingering at home are all things I don't like myself, so I'm not tempted.

Good luck with the op @FurForksSake. Do you have to come off MJ completely beforehand? No idea how that works.

Merlin23 · 03/11/2025 13:28

I buy treats for my husband and give him the bag when the online shopping arrives. I don't see it again. I don't buy any treats for early 20's kids. If they want treats they pay for them.
I have one packet of curly wurlys in the freezer. Eat them slowly as they are frozen. Hopefully once I'm off MJ, I can keep these habits.

FurForksSake · 03/11/2025 13:43

I dont know if ill have to miss a dose, i have pre op tomorrow. I’ve gone private so dont know if they have specific rules or not. Operation should only take a couple of hours, last time he was done in 3 and he’s hoping it’ll be easier. So I don’t know if length of anaesthetic makes a difference. I might take a dose Thursday if they want me to be a week clear. And I’ll probably starve for a bit longer than usual maybe?

tinyemmy · 03/11/2025 14:03

I did ok coming back from holiday (I didn't jab whilst away, so missed my weekly 2.5) and only put on a pound and that was gone in a day but then I've been eating for England (I have a tendency to do this when ill) and I'm up 4lbs, I know I can't have put that much on but it is still scary. I jabbed 2.5 today and hope that will bring me back to normal.

MargoLivebetter · 03/11/2025 14:08

@tinyemmy maybe it was the shock of returning to the chilly, dark, damp UK! Definitely can't be fat that quickly, so hopefully if will be gone soon.

I really can’t see why have to stop as if on for diabetic reasons they wouldn’t stop

Sadteacher · 03/11/2025 16:46

I have had a half term week of meals out, lots of cake and sandwiches which I never normally have. I am giving myself until Wednesday before I weigh myself so the initial bloat should go down. I have not had any MJ since August.

Zempy · 03/11/2025 18:08

I’m trying to titrate down and find the level at which I maintain. I have still been losing so far, so definitely need a lower dose.

Injected 6.25 last night. Exceptionally hungry today, but I find I am often more hungry the day after jabbing. Weird! Anyone else?

I started at 13:8 in January and my lowest weight has been 8:7 so I have lost over five stone. I’m sixty years old and am 5 ft 4. Still got handfuls of fat around my belly, and 32G boobs but no arse and skinny arms and legs!

Incognitoburrito88 · 03/11/2025 21:02

Hi everyone. Thanks so much to those who reassured me last week. I weighed in at an all time low weight this morning despite decreasing down to 3.75mg and leaving two weeks between jabs. I’m guessing it was inflammation from my increased exercise which had me up last week.

I’m finding the losing a bit addictive - my goal was 10st 7 and now I’m 10st 3… but I really don’t want to go back up to 10st 7. I think I’ll keep going with my current plan but if I dip below 10st I will make my next jab 2.5mg. I am trying to eat back my exercise calories but I’m so afraid of gaining.

on a positive note I’m still loving my exercise and I’ve got bags of energy. I wish I could just enjoy being slim but I keep feeling like it’s temporary 😢

Ah yes, all this 'work on ourselves' is indeed a lot of WORK. I have only just realised that my fear of dogs (which is not actually a fear of dogs at all) is related to the suddeness of their barking, and the noise and my neurodiversity.

Morning all, I am new to maintenance having hit my goal of 60kg last week (down from 104.8kg).
My worry is how do I get out of the loosing mindset. I really don’t want to replace one way of disordered eating with another but find that I’m still getting on the scales each morning hoping for a loss.
I’m currently on 15mg and have a 12.5 and 10mg pen ready to taper but wonder if I should start reducing the dose now rather than finish the pen at this dose.

Yes! I don’t know how to get out of the losing mindset either. When I hit goal I finished my current pen (was on 5 mg) but that was partly because I had a few social events coming up. I’ve only been maintaining for 7 wks (well still losing if I’m honest) so I don’t have the best advice!

Azuresky68 · 04/11/2025 08:15

All the very best for the winter months ...we can do this! I am making lots of healthy soups and casseroles plus a 3 ingredient "cheesecake" - eggs, Greek yoghurt, tiny bit of cornflour. Add blueberries and artificial sweetner and it's my go to now. Also made it with other additions eg apple.
Over the years I have used different techniques for intrusive thoughts and negative self talk..it has become a useful habit now to use the techniques. When things are very tough it might feel like it doesn't help but it's one step at a time.
Lots of free stuff online. I found CBT very good and also this guy..Dr Rangan Chatterjee..he is a British medical doctor and he has a podcast.

Best wishes to all

MargoLivebetter · 04/11/2025 08:15

@Zempy that is great loss. What was your highest dose of MJ?

@Incognitoburrito88 the longer you are slim the less like it will feel like a temporary thing. That's what I keep telling myself 😃,

@20bloodypounds agree it is a lot! Just mad that so many of us have spent so long hiding so much or coping with so much with food.

@Slowrunning welcome, good to see you here and congratulations on your loss. You are not alone with the feelings of happy satisfaction and achievement with losing weight. Lots of us have struggled not having that anymore. However, hopefully as time passes you will find just as much satisfaction in staying at the same weight. That becomes an achievement too.

I am the same - I've been "maintaining" for a while but have managed to lose another stone or so when I was meant to be trying to maintain. I'm now about 9st 7lbs/60kg and a size 8 but some of my size 8 jeans are hanging off me and when I see myself at the gym I just look a bit scrawny compared to others around me who look fabulous and strong. My BMI is 21.4 which is healthy but because I have lipodema, ALL the weight is on my bottom half. I do not need to lose any more weight. I'm still tapering down, currently on 7.5mg every 9 or 10 days and plan to be off it completely shortly after Christmas. Now I'm focusing on trying to build myself an arse at the gym.

Zempy · 04/11/2025 08:27

My highest dose was 10 but it made me feel quite faint and ill so I only did it once! I have been very slowly reducing since then.
