Thread 2 because we have reached our goal weights and we want to maintain not regain. We might be going cold turkey or titrating down or staying on!

Can't believe we filled up a whole thread! Welcome to thread 2.

On a positive note to start us off, I've lost 1lb of the two that I gained from my autumnal apple crumble caper. Filling full of resolve and pleased to know I can gain a pound or two (which is of course completely normal) and then lose them again.

Being short is definitely an added challenge! I’ve just come to accept that 3 meals a day isn’t going to work for me, I have to pick between breakfast and lunch to ensure I come in within my calorie allowance

Choux · 12/10/2025 11:09

I find hot drinks fill me up enough in the morning to skip breakfast. I drink black coffee as routine so v few calories used. It would be different if you like lattes etc.

I am 5’ 5 ish (it might be 5’4) and not particularly active (office job) or muscly (33.8% body fat even though my BMI is sub 24). Am mid 50s and weigh about 10st 2. My smartwatch tells me my average cals burnt is 1,800 a day - about 1,400 resting and 400 active which is walking mainly. Yesterday I ate about 2,500 calories so today and tomorrow are going to be more focussed on lighter eating and more walking to even out yesterday’s splurge. It is daily awareness / vigilance but the alternative is to gain weight so I will do it.

I would like to build more muscle for health reasons but so far motivation is hard to come by.

FurForksSake · 12/10/2025 11:40

I’m 5ft2 and almost completely sedentary, I’m going to be maintaining on Mounjaro for as long as I can afford. It’s so easy to eat something and realise it’s got the calories of a whole meal for me!

MontyJinks · 12/10/2025 13:35

Another short person here 🙋 5ft, there's no way I could have lost 5 stone without WLI, I am so grateful for them

That's a sobering thought, that a coffee and a cake could potentially be a third of my daily calories 😲

I've really been taking this last year as a continuous learning curve and have been educating myself in how to eat to fuel and nourish my body

We can do this 💪 (short people, tall people and everyone in between)

Azuresky68 · 12/10/2025 23:05

I used to be 5 foot but lost an inch due to ageing 😱 Definitely can't eat too much to maintain. So glad I lost my weight using MJ...I managed to control it most of the time over the last 5 years but was always hungry and thinking about food. Been maintaining for a while and titrating down. Currently on 10

MargoLivebetter · 13/10/2025 09:47

I'm not short but I'm old (or oldish). I'm just over 5ft 6 but unless I stick to less than 1300 calories I will not lose weight. I'm reasonably active. Average 8k steps a day and I do Pilates a couple of times a week, as well as gardening at the weekends. But I am post-menopause and just seem to need remarkably little food.

I'm still 2lb up from my holiday, because I have been eating 1500 calories a day and I simply cannot lose on that!!!!

OP posts:
KrankyKumquat · 13/10/2025 10:57

@MargoLivebetter
I'm very similar - 5ft7in and a bit and 58 and other than when doing OMAD, really struggled pre-MJ with how little I needed to eat. I could lose weight ok because i can be very single-minded, but could equally put on a lot, very quickly eg 5 or 6lbs in a few days holiday, 1 or 2lb after a pasta meal, etc, so was constantly in a loop of restriction vs relaxation. Now, on a microdose, I find I still eat relatively little to maintain but, when I have a few days off, I only gain maybe a lb. It's like I have more stability.

MargoLivebetter · 13/10/2025 11:01

@KrankyKumquat remind me how much you are taking on your microdose?

OP posts:
KrankyKumquat · 13/10/2025 11:29

@MargoLivebetter
I'm now on 1.25mg every 7 days! Reduced 1-2mg per month since last November and been sub-2.5 dose for just over 3 months now. It's remarkable.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/10/2025 14:07

Weight is a weird thing over height

I’m 5:7 and either losing or maintaining on 1800c and have for 3mths or so

was on 1200 to lose weight

I still count calories daily - prob will till Xmas and see how I do

edited to add I’m 52

SausageRoll90 · 13/10/2025 15:51

Hi guys I was wondering if I could join? I've not read the thread fully yet but I will try to.

I am not actually at target yet but only 9lb away however have decided to reduce my MJ dose to stop it for a few reasons but mostly due to some elevated LFTs (liver function tests) that I think is connected to MJ and also because we have hopes to TTCs after the new year so need to not have been in jabs for at least 2 months.

Anyway I've got just 1 more 2.5mg dose left before I stop it and just feeling like I need a bit of support from those who've walked this path ahead of me 😉

So a little about my journey -
Highest: 17st 2lb (108.9kg)
BMI: 38.7kg/m²
11.04.25
MJ start weight: 16st 9lb (105.9kg)
BMI: 37.6kg/m²
Clothes size: 20/22

Currently (after 26weeks on MJ)
Weight: 14st 1.5lb (89.6kg)
BMI: 31.7kg/m²
Clothes size: 16/occ18

Target: 13st 7lb (85.7kg) for a BMI of 30.5

Since dropping to a lower dose I am finding myself more hungry but feel full in smaller portions still, however the food noise is definitely louder so I've had a few snackcidents/slips that have been pretty bad. I really want to avoid regaining, and like I said, I've got about 9lb to target... Any advice or tips and tricks?

Thank you in advance 🩷🙏🏻

MargoLivebetter · 13/10/2025 17:04

Welcome @SausageRoll90 . I chuckled at 'snackcidents'! I don't think I've heard that before. The only trick I have up my sleeve is adequate protein. I find if I hit 30g of protein per meal (or thereabouts) I'm not hungry between meals but when I don't I get the munchies.

Mysticmaiden · 13/10/2025 17:14

@SausageRoll90 look into berberine, it's a plant and I use the liquid form to help increase suppression and it also lowers blood sugars. Works a treat for me when the cravings come and on hungrier days with tapering down to 7.5 from 15mg, and I did 5mg 2 days ago and was very hungry today so was very grateful I had some in my cupboard and it worked wonderfully in 15 mins allowing me to stick to my deficit. I got mine from amazon. Also echoing the high protein and lots of water that OP recommended.

Haha I love the word "snackcident" - I feel like it's so accurate to what it is. And a nicer word than binge which has alot of negative/triggering connotations for many.

Okay so refocus on keeping the protein up. And I should probably explore protein snacks too so they're more filling. I think hydration is going to be important for me too. It was in the early days on the lower doses...

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/10/2025 17:26

Snackcident 😂

Fluffypiece · 13/10/2025 19:22

Snackcident is GENIUS!

MargoLivebetter · 16/10/2025 11:41

Call with Pharmulous went fine and they are going to send me a pen for 2.5mg. I'm going to start myself on 1.25 and see how I go.

I lost 27kg or so on Ozempic/Wegovy/Mounjaro and have been maintaining for over a year. Have been taking Mounjaro every six weeks or so at 5mg but since it has become more expensive, have just switched back to Wegovy. They put me on 0.25mg which had pretty much no effect, but took a double dose a couple of days ago, and it's working again, including on wine cravings which is great. Appetite just gone. Can't be arsed to have lunch.

But I have much stronger side effects with Wegovy than with Mounjaro. Also tried Berberine a couple of times for a month at a time and it did nothing at all.

I really can't maintain without the injections as my cravings come back and I hate being constantly hungry - it makes me depressed. So will probably stay on the meds for life.

Thanks for this. Sorry I didn't see the message sooner so didn't reply. I tried berberine tablets before I tried MJ and it gave a horrific bad stomach and abdominal cramps so I'd be a bit nervous to try it again 😬 although maybe a liquid form might be different.

I'm also going it be making an appointment with my GP soon about my PCOS and I think I'm guna ask about Metformin. They usually only prescribe it locally for fertility but as that's part of the plan for me in 2026 I might just say we're TTC now and get started with the meds as they help insulin resistance 🤷🏻‍♀️ which might help somewhat. Not with appetite as such but with avoiding my body making excessive insulin and help maintain a weight loss.

I was prediabetic and I've not had tests since 3 years ago, I wasn't even told by my GP that I was prediabetic and found out a few months ago when I changed GP and it came up on the app. I've lost 3st 9lbs so far and bmi 23.4, and its resolved all my high blood sugar symptoms that I was getting. In fact I had to taper down from 15mg to 7.5mg as all the doses were suddenly too strong for me and I believe this is because my insulin sensitivity increased.
Good luck for TTC and I hope you can get some help from the GP with everything. Please

What are you eating? I’m 51 now by was disagnosed PCOS when TTC. I came off the pill and had no periods. Doctor suggested metformin but I lost weight on a very strict diet - strict as really thought about blood sugar eg didn’t even eat apple unless I also ate 6 almonds. Either way I lost weight period came back and I got pregnant without the metformin.

Pharmulous were easy to deal with and it was a speedy dispatch that arrived when it said it would. I took my 1.25 dose of MJ on Friday afternoon and shortly afterwards it was as though the horrible itch went away.

I don't have T2 diabetes, I don't even have any markers of pre-diabetes. I don't have a large appetite, I'm not troubled by constant hunger and yet I have such loud food noise.

Food thoughts are literally the itch that I constantly want to scratch. It is so extremely annoying and I don't understand why.

Anyhow, the good news is that 1.25 made it go away. I'm not repulsed by food like I was when I first started on 2.5 last year, but I just don't think about it all of the time. There is a massive peaceful space in my mind again, instead of the relentless monkey brain chatter of bloody bastard food.

I'm wondering whether hypnosis would help, or if there is in fact some kind of biological deficiency somewhere that the MJ fixes.

Can I join. I’m not quite there yet, but have lost 18kg and just two more to go so starting to think about maintenance again. I have some extra pens in the fridge which would last me a while and am intending to try to wean off eventually, but I do want to ensure I have access to more if I start to struggle.

I’m currently with Oushk, could go onto their flex plan but they charge £20 a month which seems extreme. Can anyone tell me of another pharmacy which allows ad-hoc ordering?

FurForksSake · 20/10/2025 16:24

It’s £20 one off not £20 a month.
