Elcella - anyone else trying it?

Hi, name changed for this, I’ve purchased a month’s supply to try and I’m coming up to a week and think it’s really helped me to quieten the food thoughts. However taking it as recommended at lunch and dinner means the mornings are hard so I’m experimenting when’s best to take it. Just wondered if anyone else is trying it and how they’ve found it?

I’m trying Elcella before trying injections because I’d rather lose weight slowly and I think I’d just read too many accounts of rapid weight loss and awful side effects and, wrongly I know, extrapolated from that to see those things as normal. Anyway, I’m almost three months in now and about 7.5kg down. I’m eating healthily (as I was before, mostly), feeling full after meals and, crucially, I haven’t been tempted to snack. For me, not snacking in three months is pretty unheard of. I didn’t measure myself before starting but in the last two months I’ve lost a couple on inches off my hips and about three from my waist.

I may yet end up on Mounjaro but for the time being I’m sticking with Elcella. I do think it’s way too expensive and I’m still not sure whether it’s working because it’s working or because spending money on it has made me improve my habits. But, either way, it is working and that’s what matters.

Edited

I think those are the experiences of people on MJ who are really not doing it properly. Take as high a dose as possible to try and suppress the appetite and avoid eating but when they do eat it’s shite they eat hence the horrific side effects. I have used the lowest dose of 2.5mg and lost around 1-1.5lb a week over the last few months, although I did have a few bigger loses at the start.

100PerCentMe · 09/09/2025 21:42

Thanks for sharing @artant I have lots to lose around my tummy/ waist! 7.5kg in 3 months is great, I would be very happy with that. And the reduced/ minimal snacking as that’s my downfall.

Marihadji · 09/09/2025 23:11

Listening to you body telling you are full, was one of the big surprises for me on Elcella. It makes sense as it is boosting your body production of GLP 1. Still found it hard to leave food on my plate, but i just stopped once i felt full.

artant · 09/09/2025 23:38

I think I just seem to be eating a sensible amount without thinking about it. I’m not counting calories or WW points (which I have done in the past), I’m just preparing a healthy meal without it being a big issue. That feels pretty healthy to me. Obviously time will tell though!

I think your strategy of staying on a low dose and losing slowly is what I would try to do if I do end up with Mounjaro. I’m glad to have it as a back up plan but if taking a supplement works then I’m happy with this approach.

Just a FYI: I've been on tirzepatide (Zepbound/Mounjaro) since February and all my labs are spot on, including liver.

JunoRoma · 10/09/2025 06:48

it actually quite interesting and is based on solid research done at QMUL
Not sure how confident anyone can be in stating the latter part of this until it has been peer reviewed and published.

superbiensur · 03/10/2025 17:44

Any updates from those taking it? Am close to the end of my first month and have regained the few pounds I lost, it's helping my snacking but I feel I have to calorie count a lot more than I have been doing and I still feel pretty hungry. Have seen comments from Elcella saying it can take up to 12 weeks to make a difference... I only bought one month and struggling to decide to push the button on which a bit investment

I think they’re a bit cheeky saying as good as Ozempic after 12 weeks. That’s £600 on something that may or may not work.

It certainly didn’t work in the first month for me. Did nothing.

superbiensur · 03/10/2025 19:15

Yes, nowhere near ozempic and they need to market very differently. May come back to it once they have the clinical trials back, maybe they need to refine dosage or set better expectations

100PerCentMe · 03/10/2025 19:20

Must be 2.5 - 3 weeks in now- no difference at all on weight or appetite.

artant · 03/10/2025 19:32

I’m sticking with it for the moment. I’m about 8kg down in a little over three months which is a pace I’m happy with. On a bit of a plateau right now though but I’m still not tempted to snack which is unheard of for me. I think the plateau may be down to eating slightly differently as the weather’s got colder so I’ll need to rethink meals a bit to get back to losing. I haven’t done any calorie counting but that will be the next step if I stay on the plateau.

Really interesting. Would you say you lost steadily or did it take a few weeks to kick in for you?

artant · 03/10/2025 21:44

It’s been pretty steady until the last week or so when it’s stalled a bit but I do think that’s been down to more autumnal food so I need to rebalance meals a bit. Also I’ve been really bad at remembering to take it which won’t be helping. I genuinely can’t remember when I last went this long without succumbing to late night snacks though so I do think it’s making a difference for me.

I’m currently on week 11 of Mounjaro. I have lost one stone of the three I need to take but I can barely leave my bed because of nausea, exhaustion, migraine and really bad visual disturbances. Anyone else had this and how did you cope please?

Lazygardener · 20/10/2025 21:49

Sounds interesting, but the research on MJ has solid facts about what percentage of body weight a large sample of people lost, and over what period of time. I’d want to see the equivalent for this product and I don’t think those studies have been done/published yet.

Goodness why on earth are you still taking it?

Thank you, you just put it in perspective for me. I need to stop. I’m due to see my doctor next week and knowing that to someone looking in from the outside, the side effects are unacceptable has helped me see more clearly. I have been so bound up in it that I couldn’t see the wood for the trees. Thank you.

Kathleen · 09/11/2025 19:46

I’ve just completed week 6 of Elcella & plan to see it through the recommended 12 weeks even though I’m paying monthly as the £595 up front was just too much. My weight loss has been really slow (only 4lbs so far) but they do say not to eat expect weight loss until after week 8. Food noise stopped in the very first week and I’ve gone from a constant snacker to someone who no longer eats between meals or after dinner. It just does not occur to me to snack now. Even though I’ve had minimal weight loss, the inches are coming off every week & I’ve lost 3” from my waist & 4” around my belly area which is where I’ve carried weight since menopause. I’ve had zero side effects and my gut feels so much calmer now & I have such a feeling of wellbeing. This is so encouraging for me & I’m excited to see what the 12 week point will bring. Would love to hear from others who have completed the Elcella journey.

CuriousBat · 12/11/2025 23:46

I’ve been watching Elcella since before it was ready for sale.
i have been on mounjaro - lost 30lbs over a year so not fastest. Moved to Wegovy due to cost list approx 4lb over 2 months.and now due to elevated heart rate I’ve had to stop immediately.

so now revisiting my options (still have 50lbs+ to loose) and don’t want to regain what I’ve already lost.

Elcella is still on my radar, but undecided. So it’s really useful to read experiences - good and bad

The capsules have multiple ingredients and yeah it’s expensive but I wanted to try it first before WLI as I’ve heard horror stories about WLI impacting liver function and how people gain weight when they stop ie it isn’t actually helping them change eating habits. The oils are natural but I believe the science is getting it to the gut without being digested in the stomach. Also WLI I believe are due to increase significantly in price? Elcella has helped me this last week hugely but I’m reserving judgment until the end of the month of taking it

This makes no sense… most fatty acids digestion happens in the small intestine. That’s normal and nothing special. The same thing would happen if you just ate a spoon of coconut oil.

babylone · 13/11/2025 06:22

@Kathleen that’s interesting that despite reducing your calories (no snacking) you are losing minimal weight (4lbs). What do you make of that? Do you eat more at dinner? Just curious thanks

Wildfairy · 13/11/2025 07:29

Seems some misinformation and confusion on here. Mounjaro doesn’t I par lie function negatively, it actually repairs it, and is in trials to be prescribed for that. And weight loss is based on how much you consume, like anything else, the drug doesn’t make you lose weight, what you eat and drink does, so it can he as slow or fast as you chose. If you can’t eat properly then one of two things are at play, you’re either on too high a dose or the drug doesn’t agree with you and you shouldn’t be on it. The vast majority of people lose 1-2lbs a week.

There was an article about Elcella in the Times today, for anyone interested. With a few journos trying it.

Yes I read that article and it made me come here and search for this thread which I knew I’d seen but hadn’t heard of Elcella and hadn’t opened.

I’ve lost a lot of weight on Mounjaro and stopped taking and might be interested in Elcella for maintenance.
