Why introduce single dose mounjaro pens?

I was wondering why Eli Lily is introducing single dose mounjaro pens in America?
Surely this is more costly as well as bad for the environment with unnecessary additional plastic?
Do they think fat American's are too stupid to use the existing pens?
It seems bizarre.
I have read rumours that the amount of “spare” mounjaro in usual pens is being reduced to stop customers using the so called golden dose but surely that can be achieved without a move to single use.

Hasn’t it always been single dose in America?

Not that I was aware but even if so why a different pen for Americans?

It’s always been single dose pens in America. I think to do with what they could license.

There has been some discussion about them introducing the Kwikpen over there to help with the waste problem but who knows what logic EL will apply to anything!!

There is also a rumour that the Kwikpen has been redesigned and will contain less medication effectively wiping out the fifth dose but again, who knows if or when that will be launched🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

It was as they had the pens for several years and how they were manufactured initially, and to change to kwikpens there they would need to reconfigure their whole manufacturing set up,

It's always been single dose pens in the US. They're the same pens they used for other injectables. Just as in Europe they use the kwikpen because it's normal here for insulin jabs.
As to whether they think Americans are too thick to use a kwikpen - maybe lol.
What will be interesting is it they decide to change in Europe. It would be one easy way to stop people using the 5th dose which is something they are definitely trying to put a stop to.
