Kicking myself for not taking the golden dose with all my previous pens. And it’s so easy to do!

I can’t believe that I’ve only just done this for the first time with my 12.5mg pen 🤦‍♀️ I wish I had done it with every pen! And it was really straightforward to do. No special syringes or needles required (although of course I wasted money on buying them first! 🙄). I simply forced the pen a bit with some pliers. With the cost rising exponentially (I won’t be continuing, sadly, as I refuse to give them the money), I’m feeling pretty chuffed. You can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be doing it with my final (15mg) pen!

well done op! I do use a syringe for the last dose.

what's happened to the price is an absolute shambles I’m really upset.

agree with not carrying on out of pure spite! I think I will go to wegovy although I hope it not EL.

Not wasted money, your next pen might need syringes.. sometimes once you've twisted the plunger won't go down, and also you might want to take all the rest to give you a little stronger week..
So all good. And yes keep doing the 5th dose while we can..

Itscoldouthere · 29/08/2025 06:30

The hard twist doesn’t always work, sometimes the plunger just won’t move up, so you’ve not wasted money on syringes you may need them in future.
I’ve been using for 15 months and have always used the 5th dose but the hard twist started to be unreliable from about March this year so I’ve used syringes since.

JamPotJenny · 29/08/2025 07:52

Where do you get your syringes?

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 29/08/2025 08:17

@JamPotJenny Here excuse the non-uk link but I’m away at the moment!! Stick ‘ukmedi syringes’ in Google. You want the size in the link.

JamPotJenny · 29/08/2025 08:19

Thank you!

Mrsmunchofmunchington · 29/08/2025 08:21

Those who use the bonus dose, am I right to think you draw up 0.6ml which is 60 units on the syringes in the link?

TheChosenTwo · 29/08/2025 08:22

I’ve just bought syringes to extract the last dose. I’ve never done it before, I’m shit scared of needles which has been the reason for me never doing it. I can cope with the pen needle, they’re very small and thin and I barely feel a thing but actively drawing it up into a syringe myself - just thinking about it makes me tremble 😭😂
I’m doing it because for weeks I’ve been unable to buy a pen in my strength, not one. So I’m going to do it this way instead; probably going to split the dose and do half because I have no idea when I’ll be able to bloody reorder due to the insane no stock situation and I’d rather stretch out what I do have and hopefully buy myself some time.
It’s not what I wanted to do. It’s against manufacturers guidelines (not that this was ever my reasoning for not using the bonus extra) but I feel I’ve been left without any other options.

I use a syringe because I can’t ever manage to force it round

Which needles have you bought? You can get basically the same as the pen needles to actually inject it

Yes exactly

BabyCatFace · 29/08/2025 10:56

This isn't news to anyone on here.

WeAllHaveWings · 29/08/2025 11:58

Enjoy the saving using the remain liquid while it lasts.

There has been a Summary of Product Characteristics logged in July to say they are reducing the pen fill from 3ml to 2.4ml so we will only have enough liquid for the 4 doses once that happens (no idea of timing when we will see the change in our pens).

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 29/08/2025 12:05

In every pen, there is 0.8ml MJ left over.

So in a 15mg pen, that's 20mg of MJ.

20mg of MJ is a whole 5mg pen.

I've never understood why people waste it. With pens so expensive, who can afford to throw away £150 plus?
