Has anyone switched from mounjaro to wegovy?

readytochange21 · 28/08/2025 14:46

I just wondered if anyone had made the switch, and if so had it been successful?

I tried semaglutide tablets a couple years ago but didnt have any luck with them. I started mounjaro 11 months ago and am a slow loser, but prior to the injections the weight loss was practically non existent thanks to perimenopause.

The problem is that with the injections going up in price, with the slow losses, I am not sure I can justify the extra cost so was considering trying wegovy. Would love to know if anyone else has switched and if it has been successful.

I was on mounjaro 7.5mg was working a treat. 24kg down since March.
Swapped to wegovy 0.5mg 3 weeks ago. I've put on 3kg. I'm ravenous alllllllll the time.

You need to increase the dose. I was on 7.5mg of MJ and I was put straight on 1mg of Wegovy. Seems pretty like for like at the moment but if I was only taking half a dose I’m not sure it would be having the same affect

I've gone from 15mg MJ to 2.4mg Wegovy and it seems to have about the same effect.

I'm really interested in retatrutide.
I'll definitely look into getting it when it comes out.

Edited

Yes im interested in this. Im switching from 12.5mg MJ and they would only allow me 1mg wegovy so expecting the first pen to not necessarily do much but hoping by the 1.7mg I should get similar effects.

I switched 5 weeks ago. I was on 7.5mg of Mounjaro but due to go to 10mg when the price changes happened. My supplier switched me to 1mg of Wegovy. I was definitely hungrier but still relatively decent suppression - I've put 2.4lbs ON in the past two weeks, despite being super careful.

I asked my supplier to increase my dose and I'm on 1.7mg of Wegovy as of today. Hoping for actual loss as it's been hugely frustrating! I'm actually just .5 of a lb less than I was 4 weeks ago (first jab lost .7lb, second 2.2lb, third put on 1.3lb and today I register as 1.1lb higher!).

HangryBrickShark · 09/10/2025 16:15

Can someone please explain the discrepancy/ratio between Mounjaro and Wegovy? I don't understand how people can go from 7.5mg or 10mg on M but then be put on 1mg of W. Is W stronger strength or something? I thought M was more powerful if that's the right word.

Lost 3st 2.5lbs with the first 1st 10lb on Slimming World. I'm on 10mg of Mounjaro and using 'golden dose' to eke it out due to the price increase.

I'm down to 16st 2.5lbs now with a target weight of 15st and like so many others I really don't want to lose what has taken so long to achieve.

Thanks for any help.

FunnyCrabDance · 09/10/2025 16:46

I started mj in feb but due to missing a 5mg order in august I've had to order the lowest dose of Wegovy to start on. Injected Sunday and feels like it could have been just water, appetite is back and seem to be gaining (small amounts) each day this week!
Hoping it might get better as i simply cant afford mj anymore, only got 1 stone 5 lbs left to lose so feeling very frustrated!

So weird. I’ve been on 10mg MJ for months and am just finishing my last MJ pen before I switch to 1.7mg Wegovy (already have the pen sitting in the fridge). I’m with Voy if that helps. I know they’re pricey but they’ve been worth it for the complete lack of aggro when switching.

It’s a different medicine. One is tirzipatide and the other is semaglutide. So different amounts of those medicines. Like you might take 200mg of paracetamol but 400mg of ibuprofen.

Aha I've got you. Thanks for the explanation x

I’ve started on 1.7 mg Wegovy this week, I was on 15mg mounjaro for a few months previously, having started MJ in July 2024

I’ve always been a slow loser. Have only lost 38lbs in 66 weeks, and only 3lbs since June on MJ.

So far it’s not bad. No side effects. Appetite suppression is minimal but about the same as I had on MJ. The main difference is I can eat more on Wegovy. I had definite awareness of ‘feeling full’ on mounjaro previously whereas I don’t have that this week. I’ve been approved for my next pen as 2.4mg so maybe it’s just dose and this next pen will be better. I’ve got another 25lbs to lose to get into healthy BMI. At the rate I’ve been going that’s another year and I don’t want that to be any slower!

According to my smart watch my heart rate has dropped a little which I thought would be interesting to note.

WhyArePiratesCalledPiratessss · 18/10/2025 18:31

I moved over the end of September (from MJ to wegovey). I was on 7.5 mj and decided to jump to 1mg wegovey and chance the side effects. There were some! Eek.
In the 10 days before the switch, I caught a cold then a stomach bug. When I switched, I had side effects for about 10 days (on and off!). .you appetite isn't as suppressed and I now find i do want cake/ chocolate which i never did with MJ. It is resistable tho so not too bad. I didnt lose anything in the first 2 weeks, but it was also my birthday and had all the good times but stopped my work outs cos I was feeling pretty crap for 2 weeks.
But this week, the side effects have settled and im back to exercising and to losing.
I had really slowed down on MJ to a lb a week from 4 ish when I started. There was a few pounds put on over that 2 weeks settling but ive lost that and more this week so all in all, im calling it water weight and an overall win.
I hope this continues.
Its not as good as MJ but its better than half as good (for half the price) so hoping it wont take me twice as long to finish my journey.
10lbs to go to healthy BMI. 44lbs down since starting WLI in may. 62 since September last year.

rocket74 · 20/10/2025 00:32

I’m switching back to Monjouro.
I was on it and happy losing weight from May - August - 13kg I think. I felt fine, had energy and motivation to ‘move’.
I changed to Wegovy for cost - it may be coincidence as I’ve a lot going on (stressful stuff) but I have spent what feels like the last 6-8 weeks sleeping, no motivation, craving sweet stuff - I mean sleeping 16+ hours a day (I’m not working).
it’s unsustainable. It’s now 4 days past my usual injection - MJ hasn’t arrived yet and I feel a lot more alert, less total fatigue and less brain fog.
Anyone else had this?
I flagged it with SheMed but their response was very generic. I’ve got 2 injections left in my pen that I won’t use. So that was a waste.

Winterflowers6 · 20/10/2025 00:46

I've lost 9 stone on mj
Switched to w
Then panicked after reading negative reviews,I've still to much to loose to mess around not loosing weight or worse putting it back on
So I'm waiting to swap back to mj
I've not even opened the w pen
But it has a 2 year life on it ,so maybe when I'm at maintenance I will actually get round to try it

redandwhite1 · 20/10/2025 06:04

Just finished 6 months on MJ, I did 1 month on 2.5 then 2 months on 5mg and had to move back to 2.5 because of side effects, I take my first 0.5 wegovy on weds…. Hoping it’ll be a good balance between the 2 as the last month on 2.5 food noise has massively come back and although I haven’t gained any weight it’s been a fight so been like I’ve been riding solo

i see so many negatives about wegovy I hope I’m not wasting my money

DarkForces · 20/10/2025 06:59

I'm going to be switching from 7.5 mj to 1 Wegovy for maintenance. My prescriber has said I'll need to stick with it for a couple of pens to really feel it as it builds in your system. I think expecting it to be exactly like mj on day 1 is setting up a false expectation. If it's not working after this they'll up my dose or I can switch back.

See ,I've still got significant weight to loose,I can't be waiting around two months for something to possibly kick in ..I've got to shift this weight ,and then get of this medication for good

No t sure if people already aware of these sites that list supplier’s prices for each dose, with discount codes for each supplier. You can click on a dose & it will list the suppliers in both increasing & decreasing prices. It’s really good and I’ve saved loads. There’s also the Trustpilot score for each supplier. Wegovy site:

and Mounjaro site: https://monj.co.uk/mounjaro-price-comparison-by-monj/

Hope this helps some people. I lost 3 st. on Mounjaro & finished it on 10mg in July. Can’t afford to carry on. Just started Wegovy week ago, but don’t feel any different. Had to start on 0.25. Hope it kicks in.

Tbose are the most popular comparison websites for Mounjaro and Wegovy. Just beware with going for the cheapest, it's often a big discount on your first order then the prices are inflated for further orders. Better to look at non-discounted prices (there is a button in the website which you can click to show this). This shows the prices you'll be paying going forward and more realistic of the lowest cost overall for your weight loss journey. As it stands Cuva Health is the best priced.

3 weeks into 1.7mg of Wegovy and I have gained 4lbs. I’m due to take my final dose tonight but think I will bin it and go straight to the 2.4mg pen waiting in the fridge to see if that is better for suppression. I’ve had no side effects on W and was previously on 15mg of MJ for several months.

I’ve definitely been eating (snacking) more these last few weeks, so I know that’s on me and on MJ I was obviously relying on appetite control.

How are others finding the switch?

Annwithout · 27/10/2025 23:31

I'm on my second week of Wegovy 1.0 and have little or no appetite suppresion :( back to food noise galore :(

LemonLadybird · 28/10/2025 23:20

Feeling so nervous now - I was on 12.5 on MJ and just taken my first 2.4 WG injection this evening. I’ve lost almost 5 stone with MJ so I really really hope that I’ll manage okay. I am with Voy and the switch was super easy tbf.

Seahorsesplendour · 29/10/2025 09:28

I haven’t swapped yet but my DP has and is having very similar response to wegovy that she had on MJ so it absolutely works for some!!!

HundredMilesAnHour · 29/10/2025 12:01

I’m due to swap in 2 weeks and increasingly apprehensive about it. To be honest, I probably should have just come off Mounjaro but I already had a small stash to use up and Voy sent the Wegovy before I’d had time to decide. So I guess I’ll try the Wegovy since I’ve paid for the damn stuff but I don’t have high hopes given everyone else’s feedback. I’m expecting it to end up quitting WLI in a month or two, or going back to MJ if I can stomach the extortionate pricing (can’t really afford it and the side effects make me feel rubbish but I don’t want to get fat again either, argh).

readytochange21 · 04/11/2025 17:00

How are people doing? Due to make the switch next week finally

OP posts:
meatyryvita · 04/11/2025 17:39

2 months in and it's going so much better! The first 2 months I either STS or put a pound on, which was immensely frustrating. Since this time last week, it's been a complete change - excellent suppression (to the point I actually forgot to have breakfast on a very busy Sunday last weekend), no food noise and I'm on course for a bit of a whoosh this week. Glad I stuck with it but I did have to go to 1.7mg+ to get the same effect as my 7.5mg of MJ.

Angryflamingo · 05/11/2025 09:33

I am two weeks in and I'm not losing, side effect wise I'm ok. I am definitely more snacky but as above I've heard people say the first couple of pens dont do much and then BOOM you are back in business. Going to stick with it. I was on 7.5 MJ and now on 1.7 Wegovy.
