To be so angry with Oushk pharmacy

So tried to get my maintenance dose today. Apparently none in stock. At just after 4pm I get an email saying they are putting all their prices up from 5pm today and guess what? Yup you guessed it - now they have them at around £140 than they were earlier!!!! And they aren’t supposed to be money grabbing? Hmmmm

So, they have taken my order for 2 pens at the old price for Sept 5th delivery. I can't see how they can fulfill that now if they have no old stock left. Does this mean they will cancel it, and have had free use of my money?

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 27/08/2025 08:54

I've never used Oushk and my only experience of them is when their psychodrama spills over into the discussions here. They have sounded spectacularly unprofessional for months. It's little surprise that they've dropped such a bollock this time.

OddBoots · 27/08/2025 09:05

No net wasn't my primary motivation for pharmacy choice, I just wanted a company where I could plan my delivery date, I work in a job that needs me on site so I have to put a lot of work into planning when to be at home for a delivery - back when I moved to Oushk 10 months ago they were the only place that offered this.

Is that still the case or so other providers let you plan a delivery for a fixed date ahead?

OddBoots · 27/08/2025 09:07

No net = money

@Nomoretopswithblacktrousers

How do you figure 'they've held the rebate savings back'? If they can't prove to EL the rebate has gone to customers, they won't get it - it's paid in arrears. The £15 off could well be the rebate.

I didn't know that. I'd perhaps wrongly assumed their prices were higher than other maintenance providers so they were holding onto the rebate.

KrankyKumquat · 27/08/2025 09:25

@HereIGoOnceMore
Yep, it's think you're probably right. I really don't believe the conspiracists who say the pharmacies were forwarned of this or are 'in on it'. I'm sure it was a big shock and for a pharmacy like Oushk who do nothing much else, pricing from EL (and less so currently from NN) is what everything rests on, then build on top of that, the ever changing demands and expectations of regulators...I don't envy them for sure.

Nomoretopswithblacktrousers · 27/08/2025 09:30

I agree they may not have been told but they don't seem to have done any forecasting or scenario planning either. Close sibling works in sector for a big company and almost all he's been doing since Trump's tariff plan is strategy.
Perhaps this is why the newer companies have been more affected as they didn't know what to do?

I don't know others that let you choose your delivery date, but my local pharmacy now offers the medication and I'm going to see what their prices are like. It would be very convenient to just pop to the pharmacy and pick it up rather than deal with all the ordering stress. I've seen someone else posting on threads who uses their local pharmacy and says the price is in line with online providers.

Lazygardener · 27/08/2025 11:44

I don’t think they are at fault for releasing the new prices a few days early, as they have no old stock and will have to pay the new prices to EL. I do think they haven’t responded particularly well to the crisis (3 pen business for example). They are also very keen to communicate, which is good, but then miss the mark. I have asked a very specific question about Wegovy, and they sent me a generic reply which answers all the questions I did not ask, but not the one I did ask!
I do hope they are planning ahead for the mass migration from MJ to Wegovy. I could probably scrape together the additional money for MJ, but I resent pandering to EL’s greed, so when my pen runs out, I will be switching.

MonjourMadame · 27/08/2025 11:44

I went with Oushk because of the high ratings and the fact you could book a specific delivery date. For me this was the convenience of a high street pharmacy without the cost.
It was easy to be oblivious of the cult/drama as I’m not on any socials.

@Corfumanchu im in the same boat for the 5th September but just one pen. Guess we’ll find out in the 4th if it’s coming or not.

The Eli Lilly rebate scheme in arrears (instead of just lower prices) is rough for all the pharmacies. All pharmacies will need to use it to stay competitive.

They are charged full price up front for the medication, have processes in place to prove they gave the discount to customers and only get the money back later. So pharmacies are fronting the costs for weeks, which is a big hit to their cash flow.

Eli Lilly probably had no choice and it was the only loop hole they could use in Trumps polices to reduce prices.

Nomoretopswithblacktrousers · 27/08/2025 13:49

@WeAllHaveWings Makes sense.

Interesting to know the rebates are the same for all companies.

No, they will supply it at the price you paid. They've confirmed this on circle. I'm no Oushk cheerleader but to be fair to them in this situation, they do not take orders for stock they don't have. They allocate your pen when you order.

HereIGoOnceMore · 27/08/2025 07:23

I think the whole saga shows that they are a small provider who has panicked. They thought they had the golden goose and my guess is they expanded rapidly, possibly increasing borrowing to do so. The rise in prices has affected their business model and their cash flow.

I can’t help but wonder if the whole you can order 3 pens thing was to try to improve their cash-flow so that they could place new orders.

I’m disappointed because I chose them as a provider, not because of the social media circus - I wasn’t even aware of the Hira cult circle until recently - but because I wanted a straightforward, consistent journey and selected them purely because they offered maintenance and I wanted a provider I could stick with.

But why would I stick with a company who has messed me around, not allowed me to order when I needed to and is not competitive on price?

I completely agree with you. I feel completely let down by the way they’ve handled this. I feel lied to too as I asked them for my be t set of codes (only had x3 since April) and they refused to give me anymore as I’d used the last one at the beginning of July and I couldn’t use more than one in a month. But if people had been buying up to three pens at a time then that isn’t true

I think given that several companies do maintenance now, they've lost that particular USP.

Your order will be fulfilled at the price you paid, Hira confirmed that on her live last night.
They currently have no stock and like all pharmacies have to wait until Sept 1st to get new stock, but they won’t be cancelling orders or charging more for orders placed at the old price.
hope that helps

KrankyKumquat · 28/08/2025 08:49

@FlamingoFloss
I was buying 3 pens at a time before all this but you used one code to do so as it was one order. The other 2 would just lapse, so you'd request more near the end of your pens. You couldn't use all 3 codes to buy every month, so they didn't lie to you but should have explained things better maybe. Sounds like you were really unlucky with timings.
