Shemed January Starters - Thread 4

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/08/2025 18:38

Hello everyone! I completely missed the other thread was full (haven't been too well this week) so I've started this one and will tag as many people as I can think of from recent pages. Do tag anyone else you think of that might miss the new thread!

I hope everyone is okay. It's been unsettling times hasn't it with all the news about the price increases and very little from Shemed as to what they are planning. I am hopeful that of all people we will be shielded the most due to being on the Study (fingers crossed).

I weighed in this morning and took second dose of the 10mg. I seemed to put on this morning but if I take the weight I've been most of this week...

I am exactly half way to my target! And I've lost 25% of my bodyweight!

10mg - so far no burps or nausea but I am wondering if this extreme tiredness is in part due to the drug. Was eating just as I was before the last couple of days but today don't want to eat so who knows!

I'll read up and tag people if I can.

I'm so pleased you're feeling better @JBJ, you're so close to being under 100 @Reginaphalangeeeee ! I'm always so chuffed to see people doing so well!

It's very definitely a slow and steady for me on Wegovy, I'm down to 67kg, so only a couple of kilos from my personal target. I had my company medical and most measures were happily in the green so that was nice.

I feel like I might be sticking with Wegovy for a while once my shemed subscription runs out (who knows - 12 pens or 13?) get to my personal target and then look at how I can maintain.

Shemed is not the cheapest (nor the most expensive) for Wegovy so maybe will stay with them for the reliability.

KoalaKoKo · 11/11/2025 20:40

Wegovy has given me awful sweet cravings - much worse than before any WLI! I put on 3.5kg in the last 6 weeks so am back to the weight I was in August. I am feeling slightly less ravenous the last week (though am not quite constipated) but still tend to steal a mini chocolate bar or two from my kids halloween stash every day (I will replace them and she is only 4 so not really aware). I am going to try harder the next week or so and decide if I will switch back or continue with wegovy - I have read a lot of people don’t get results until 2.4mg which would be my next pen. I also find I have less energy, that the muscles I had built over the last few months seem to have disappeared so just feeling overall much more flabby and demotivated.

I do suspect I have ADHD and I know some people have said mountjaro helped lessen those symptoms - I do feel I was a lot more together on it, was less stressed and better with time management.

I got diagnosed with ADHD whilst on mj, it helped more when I was on the higher doses, I don't get the benefits now I'm on 2.5mg. The food noise is lessened on it. I will be going on medication at the end of December and I'm hoping that will help me reduce my dose further or come off, when I've left it two weeks between doses I was mainlining sugar like I did pre-mj. I do think my binge eating is ADHD dopamine seeking

I stayed with Shemed as Im still in the contract until January. Next time for my 13th on final pen I'll get a 2.4mg. I'm around 4lbs heavier now than when I changed from MJ the first week in September.
I've started eating breakfast and I've upped my exercise a little to try to start losing the weight I'd put back on, I'm still a medium in clothes though it's getting a bit tighter. I'm not as slim as I was in the summer and inflammation is re appearing now I'm my face etc.

Just a little update for you all. X

I could have written this post. Literally exact same situation. I miss MJ 😫I’d have hit my weight goal by now if I hadn’t had to switch.

Yep, it's been hard without MJ. It bought so many great benefits.

I think if we work on habits long term changes it will be ok. Personally I'm trying 1400 calories a day It's hard though and I'm actually reaching about 1500/1600 a day if I don't snack.

I'm not sure what I can do about puffy face and waist gain it's not actual weight just water again I have PCOS

It's depressing though when I look back at my svelte pictures from summer weddings at my target weight of 10st 7lb back then. X

Shmallow · 12/11/2025 21:57

I went back on the MJ and very relieved to report my inflammation settled down and the weight has started coming off again. It's been very slow for me anyway as I've been crap monitoring literally anything and drinking enough water, but I am over 20kg down from Jan and lighter than I've possibly ever been as an adult. Would love to lost another 12 in total but mostly I just need to keep this immune stuff under control.

I ordered via Pharmulous and I had the pen the next day. They let me go up to 10mg which I'm very happy about. I told Shemed I wanted to cancel, stopped doing the check ins, had an email to say they'd escalate but they haven't ever come back to me other than app notifications that I'm overdue to check in!

Earthgirl3971 · 13/11/2025 07:03

I have lost a 0.2 of a lb! Doesn't sound a lot but I'm happy with it as it means that my calorie counting this week and making healthier choices is paying off. I've decided to look at my average calories across the week to give me more breathing room to eat more or less as I feel like it.

My quaker oats porridge with berries is an obvious winner. As is eating breakfast within the hour that I wake up.

Two things I haven't been doing very well, is noticing my Fitbit when it tells me I've been sitting for too long and still need to do 250 steps this hour- get up and walk lady!

And listening to my slim pod needs to be a nightly ritual. I paid £150 for the meditation recordings a couple of years ago and I swear that they work because I completely stopped snacking for a few weeks but you do need to be consistently listening every night. And I guess I stopped. ..

I have started to take every morning school run though and fitting in some challenging exercise on my mat in the week. I've discovered senior shape fitness on YouTube. Lauren is amazing !

The next thing I need to do is develop an exercise calendar for myself and stick to it, so that exercise becomes scheduled and not ad hoc.

JBJ · 13/11/2025 14:13

Cheeky mid week weigh in today and I’ve seen the 14st bracket on the scales. 14st 13.6lb to be precise, but that was very exciting to see. Granted, I had 2 gallbladder attacks yesterday (after a week without annoyingly!) and spent about an hour throwing up, so I suspect that may have helped things along! Got my consultation a week today to see what’s happening with this damned gallbladder, so there’s a chance they may tell me to stop the MJ, although my GP is happy for me to continue for now, so I’ll see what the consultant says. 2st to go to my first goal - being able to ride again - and about 3st ish to get to my ideal weight I think. Once I’m comfortably fitting in a size 14, I’ll be very happy!

Kaggi9 · 17/11/2025 07:37

Morning everyone!

Just dropped in to see how everyone is getting on and it seems like a bit of a mixed bag.

I did the Wegovy switch in September and seem to be experiencing the same issues as everyone else - I definitely wish I could go back to MJ! I think still being with SheMed and facing the check ins weekly keeps me a little on track though. I was lucky in that I’d hit my goal pretty much by the switch, so wanted to maintain. However, my BMI means that moving to another provider is off the cards as I have looked into it and the answer from the ones I’ve tried has been no. I’m halfway through pen no.11, my second on WG and it’s a 1mg. Definitely better than the first one at 0.5, but still isn’t enough I feel. The horrendous periods are back (symptoms all vanished on WG so that was a shock) and I just don’t feel quite as ‘good’ - I guess some of you will know what I mean!

I’m kind of hoping that once WGgoes out off patent the prices will come down and maybe I can switch back. But, who knows what maintenance will look like with SheMed?!

Happy Monday everyone!

Morning! I really don't miss the check ins, I hated them!
I got a pen from get a drip and then my last one is on order with pharmulous. My BMI is around 22, I am on maintenance, they might not be up for it if I said I wanted to lose more. I plan to stay with pharmulous going forward as you can keep ordering from them even if you have had a break of uo to a year.
Oushk and swift also offer maintenance so you could look at them too.

JBJ · 17/11/2025 10:15

Morning. Still doing my Monday morning weigh in, but not missing the video call! 14st 12lb this morning, so 3.5lb loss. 6st 10.5lb loss in total! Over the moon with that (not so over the moon about the gallstones however 😩).

Got my consultation on Thursday, so interested to see what they say about using MJ with gallstones. GP was happy for me to continue, but the consultant might be different!

Really don’t want to stop just yet. I’m only 2-3 stones from my target and it’s devastating to think that it might have to stop.

That sounds interesting! Do you mind me asking the cost for MJ with Pharmulous?

Thank you 😁

5mg was £171.98 that's with £6.99 postage. I understand a lot of them charge about that for postage

JBJ · 20/11/2025 22:05

Had my consultation tonight and I’m on the list for surgery within 4 months, so the end is in sight!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 22/11/2025 07:24

Glad you will have your surgery soon @JBJ,great news!
Did the consultant say you have to stop while waiting MJ?
At your current weight loss trajectory you may be at target by then?

I have avoided the scales this week. I was 100.5 and fluctuating around there the last week or so. Such a heavy period this week so thought best wait until that’s over. I really want to see under 100 and almost don’t want to look til I am there now.

JBJ · 22/11/2025 18:10

@Reginaphalangeeeeethe surgeon is happy for me to continue on MJ, he said the horse has already bolted and there’s no benefit to stopping now! God, I do hope I’m at target by my op. Never in a million years thought I’d be at this point in less than a year when I started this!

tinyemmy · 23/11/2025 09:06

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGardenare you ok?

JBJ · 24/11/2025 21:33

1.6lb loss this week, which I’m very happy with as I’ve struggled eating much with this gallbladder.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 24/11/2025 22:06

Hi @tinyemmy gosh it's been ages hasn't it. I'll read up a bit. Thankyou for tagging me.

I'm full time on site in quite an intense role now. It's amazing but I'm struggling a bit to keep up with family and sleep. I've stopped my exercises and want to get back to them but just trying to keep on top of work at the moment and sleep isn't great.

Size wise though I've only got 1.5 stone to go to "not obese". My weight loss is slowing down a bit but I hope it's not too long away. It's my birthday in spring and it would be fab if I was not obese then!

@JBJ So sorry for all the pain but so glad an end is in sight and great they're happy for you to continue on the MJ! Fingers crossed for not too many attacks between now and then.

I know what you mean about looking back over the year. We are all so nearly at the year aren't we - it will be a good time for reflection. I never thought I'd get this far and my life is compeltley different now. Most people at my new work have never seen me morbidly obese or unable to sit down...

I've not been this weight in 13 years. I'm still obese (although look so much better) and I'm sad that so much of my life I was so very large. All my children's living memory 😢. But also so glad I went for it. I was so so worried about cost (and still am) as it has affected what I can do with the children but I remember someone saying a year ago they'd rather have me alive and that stuck with me. It's been life saving on so many levels.

If I can keep up with my new job financially we should be able to afford it but so there's so not we've not done in the house, not saved for a car or for uni etc over rhe years just because we couldn't...

Interesting to hear from those of you on wegovy. I am aware I'm relying on MJ for the inflamation effects and I'm nervous now I won't ever be able to come off.

I'm with pharmulous though (so impressed. I'm so relieved not doing the check ins any more. And the ease of next day delivery and ordering without the faff!) do it may be when I get there I try and cut down or have some time on/off.

@Reginaphalangeeeee 🤞 for under 100 post period xx

How incredible @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGardenyou can do it! I bet you feel a million dollars! Great to hear from you! Someone once told me that if it's for health, spend it. I used that reasoning to pay more for a second gym session and I'm still keeping on with 2.5mg of mj. I have wrist pain at the moment, I'm hoping it doesn't mean I need to go up. I've also been eating a lot of sugar as I was recovering from surgery in my mouth so I definitely see a correlation between sugar and my inflammatory response (but difficult to control without mj).

Sorry to hear about the full on job, sleep is so important. One of the key building blocks, definitely focus on improving it if you can. Exercise can come once the sleep is back. Do you know what's causing it?
I was having night sweats again and waking in the night, I wondered if I needed to up my HRT but after speaking to a PT discovered it was the xtra sugar id been eating 🙈 I do still struggle and wonder if I need to up my dose slightly. Perhaps after Christmas (if Dr J don't make me come off it for titration at the end of the year)

Earthgirl3971 · 26/11/2025 20:23

I think I've counted I've been issued 12 prescriptions ... Is that it then ! Do we get anymore?
I didn't think I'd be finished until January.

My first injection was late January, maybe 27th I think.

Earthgirl3971 · 27/11/2025 10:40

Well the MJ is officially out of my system as my back pain is back with vengeance this week.

I've done without WLI since 18th September. In this time I've put on about 7lb. ! That's not so bad but with the inflammation and pain relief appearing again im disappointed that I'll need to restart, but I will.

Therefore took 0.5mg of Wegovy this morning, looks like I'm back on the band wagon.

I'll keep you posted on how I get on with the Wegovy.
