Shemed January Starters - Thread 4

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 22/08/2025 18:38

Hello everyone! I completely missed the other thread was full (haven't been too well this week) so I've started this one and will tag as many people as I can think of from recent pages. Do tag anyone else you think of that might miss the new thread!

I hope everyone is okay. It's been unsettling times hasn't it with all the news about the price increases and very little from Shemed as to what they are planning. I am hopeful that of all people we will be shielded the most due to being on the Study (fingers crossed).

I weighed in this morning and took second dose of the 10mg. I seemed to put on this morning but if I take the weight I've been most of this week...

I am exactly half way to my target! And I've lost 25% of my bodyweight!

10mg - so far no burps or nausea but I am wondering if this extreme tiredness is in part due to the drug. Was eating just as I was before the last couple of days but today don't want to eat so who knows!

I'll read up and tag people if I can.

Well done @kittykarate!
So close now!

I plucked up courage for weigh in & a 0.5kg loss. Not bad while in Disney. Also I am late for my period so really hoping for a whoosh next week.

At 101.5kg this means I have broken the 16stone barrier (just) whoop whoop 🥳.
I so want to get under 100kg next.

I think all the sugary treats travelling and hormones is driving my food noise a bit. Hope it will settle and to be under 100 by Nov maybe.

That’s fantastic after a holiday! Well done.

Earthgirl3971 · 16/10/2025 06:56

Great to see everyone's progress..

My weight has been creeping up these last few weeks while I'm going it alone. I think I'm going to have to cut all crap if I'm going to keep my weight off long term.

I was 10.7 when I stopped the jabs over 4 weeks ago now, 10.8. I'm worried inflammation is starting in my body again now I'm off MJ as I can see my tummy area is getting bigger again slightly even though I'm keeping to smaller portions with my plate and stopping eating when I'm full.

I need to cut my sugar intake and keep to my daily calorie amount of 1359

My plan is to weigh my food portions from now on also and exercise snack with my Fitbit app through the day.

Constipation isn't helping though, I feel like I want to take a Senna every few days as I'm not pooing enough to stay comfortable around my waist.

I've always found it easy to fast and not have breakfast but listening to Dr Stacy Sims and her research on women's bodies has made me realise that fasting isn't good for women and that I need to somehow start eating breakfast again after all these years. A friend who also has never eaten breakfast but does now and is getting good weight loss results has mentioned yoghurt and berries is a good speed food for weight loss.

I will give that a try.

Hi @Earthgirl3971 I also don’t eat breakfast. I do have a Huel bar mid morning.
what’s the issue with fasting? I thought good for anti-inflammatory?

It puts women's bodies under stress and produces cortisol because of our hormones.

The studies that have been done on fasting have been done on men. Fasting is massively good for men's bodies.

Follow Stacy Sims on social media , or read one of her books. I'm just using an audio book of 'next level' at the minute but I've just bought it on the kindle to read it. It's completely enlightening and changing everything I thought I knew about this!

Hi everybody not been on here for a while, hope all your journeys are going well. So I moved over to wegovy. Took my 3rd dose of 1mg today. Had no side effects but that also means not much food suppression either. Filled out my refill questionnaire at 9:30 today and my prescription for 1.7mg has already been sent. SheMed clearly better again for ordering! Just hope the higher dose of wegovy gets me back on track because not really lost anything in the last 2 months.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 17/10/2025 18:18

Wow @Reginaphalangeeeee a loss while at Disney is seriously mpressive!!

@kittykarate Great it's working and you're so close to your goal. That's fantastic!

@Earthgirl3971 I'd similarly thought research around fasting was based on men... It isn't something that would work for me but I know it does work for some. You say your weights creeping up but it's by 1 pound. Isn't that within the range of normal fluctuation - especially if a bit constipated?

@Mazd323 Sounds like they've got the ordering back on track! Fingers crossed for the next dose.

I checked in this morning at 15stone!!! I am so close to that next stone bracket. I'm bmi 34 now too so bmi 30 is getting closer (just under 2 stone away!). I still can't quite belive it.

I'm sat in my car and there is a great big gap between me and the steering wheel. I remember in the first few months trying to work out at what point I'd definitely call it a gap as I lost as it would still gently scrape alongside at times.

These last few months have been a bit of a roller coaster emotionally! I have had some quite traumatic events at work and one of my children has had some serious issues too. BUT work wise I will now be f/t in one of my roles from half term and I am so very excited. I love this job. It's full on but for the first time in many years I'm valued at work and excited to see where it goes. I feel like my world is a complete world away from a year ago.

It's actually around 3lb now!

I'm starting to panic that I should have tapered off on a maintenance dose rather than stopped completely. I'm due a big poo though! Lol.

Kicking myself for not tapering as I don't want to restart the meds, though I have 3 doses left. I just don't know what I'm doing anymore!

I dunno I need to relax. The medication for my menopause is likely to blame. Trying not to focus on it but it's there all the time now.

Thanks @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGardenyes a 0.5KG loss but nothing this week 🙄
My period is super late now (day 39) and sure that is a factor. This seems to be the way my peri menapause is going with longer cycles which is annoying!!! Anyone else? I keep being ‘prepared’ but feels like the PMT slot elongated now rather than just a day or two, it’s like over a week now!
This means I eat differently. I really crave sugar so this weekend I have been so cross with my food choices. Basically a lot of bread and some chocolate. I wish my will power came back already!!

I moved my jab day to Monday (for travel reasons) and now wondering if I should keep it that or move it back to a Sunday. I know this issue has been tiredness and PMT this week but worry I have side effects but less supression. Ahhh hoping next week is better.

@Earthgirl3971- hope things ‘moving’ for you.

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGardenso glad you are happier in your job!! Also 15stone?!! As in getting to 14stone bracket soon? You are smashing it!!!
my BMI 34.5 and only just got into the 15bracket.
Hope I can get myself sorted to get under 100kg!!! Soon!

My cycle has gone completely the opposite way and I’m having a period every 10 days to 2 weeks at the minute. Driving me insane!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 20/10/2025 08:59

@JBJ that’s way worse, I’m sorry!
Are they at least a little lighter or less PMT fuelled as compensation?

Unfortunately not. Worse than ever and lasting 6-7 days. I’m getting about a week off in between.

Have you seen your GP? Sounds like you really need help.

Yeah. They don’t seem concerned! I’m peri, so it’s all been blamed on that. Gone back on the mini pill so hoping that helps calm it down.

In other news, I’ve also got gallstones 😩 so probably have to have my gallbladder removed at some point.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 20/10/2025 12:38

Oh no @JBJ! That explains that period of pain & illness? Has it come back?

I’ve had a bit of pain on and off, but nothing like it was a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been referred to the gallbladder team at the hospital (bloody amazed how on the ball my docs are at the minute - only got home from the scan an hour ago and had a text already saying I’ve been referred!). The radiologist said the size of the stones suggests they’ve been forming for years, but weight loss can trigger them to become painful. My gallbladder isn’t inflamed though, which is good. He said they might settle down and not cause me any issues for a while, but, ultimately, the only treatment is to remove the lot.

Hi 👋

I've decided to start on Wegovy and make the most of the time remaining. If I lose a bit more to get below 10 stone then I can relax at Christmas and spend next year figuring out maintenance when I'm off the plan on the lowest WG is 0.25mg.
I think I want to buy all of my 13 pens im due under the contract and want to experience going up the doses before I go back down.

So I'll finish my current pen. I've asked to go to the next dose from 0.5mg to 1mg and it's been approved so should be here by Thursday this week

Thanks for checking on me.

You are doing fab love reading your stories.

JBJ · 20/10/2025 16:38

On a brighter note, I’ve lost another 1lb this week (which I’m more than happy with, as 3.7lb loss last week was a bit more than I was comfortable with tbh) and now at a total loss of 5st 11.5lb. Another 2.5lb to that 6st loss!

YouWillFindMeUnderCats · 20/10/2025 22:43

@JBJ I remember your pain a few weeks ago. Wishing you a swift recovery!

I took my third dose of Wegovy yesterday. I actually gained a small amount of weight 0.2lbs. My first gain since January. I’m struggling a little bit with constipation which could be a reason as I’m fairly sure I stayed within my calorie allowance. Or it could be due to being slightly swollen following a fall on my way to work last Wednesday!

There I was in my smaller, fashionable, very wide legged trousers walking along the footpath and the next minute I was flat on my front on the ground. The shame! I quickly jumped to my feet, reassured the lovely lady who checked on me that I was definitely ok ( I wasn’t) and limped on to the station and continued my journey to work. I held it together until I arrived in the office where I promptly burst into tears.

My left leg is swollen and bruised from just above my knee down to my ankle. My bad right knee is bruised. I have bruises on boob just below the nipple and I think I have bruised ribs! My ego is badly bruised as well. The only positive is that I probably would have been more badly hurt if I was still 4 stone heavier!

I’ve been prescribed 1.7mg for my next pen.

kittykarate · 21/10/2025 14:39

2nd week on 1mg Wegovy and a loss! 0.8 kg.

There's definitely a bit more concentration needed - you do have to actively listen for the fullness signal, and food remains attractive. I don't miss the fear of Mounjaro 'punishing' me for being naughty though - I'm enjoying good sleep, a slightly lower resting heart rate. I definitely don't miss the waking up sweaty and ill feeling if I've had one chip too many.

DearRaven · 22/10/2025 17:15

Hey everyone, long time no post. Been lurking though & celebrating your wins or asking to pass on strength during your hard times (I'm a spiritual person).

Made the decision to move over to Wegovy from next week. The MJ has stopped working & is too expensive to carry on when no weight is being lost. Figured I’d try Wegovy as a last ditch attempt at getting to a healthy bmi. Keep everything crossed for me 🤞

Hope everyone is doing as well as possible x

Reginaphalangeeeee · 22/10/2025 21:53

Ah good luck @DearRaven
sorry to hear the MJ not working. Out of interest what dose did you get to?

I feel I am not loosing right now due to hormones (still waiting for my very late period) but also this cold weather or MJ effect… all I want to eat is warm soup and fresh bread 🙄
I know this isn’t helpful and through the summer I dodged bread a lot but now it’s cold it has a hold on me!

I’m on 10mg,
I have appetite supression but it’s just when I eat, I keep eating bread.

Earthgirl3971 · 22/10/2025 22:39

@DearRaven Hi, what Wegovy dose are you starting on? I've also took a few weeks (6 weeks) break and plan to start tomorrow morning again @ 7am.

I'm on 0.5mg with 3 shots left then moving onto 1mg. With two pens to buy before the end of the £99 contract time. I'm hoping to go up the doses for the last pens (1.7mg and 2.4mg and then make my way back down the doses maybe for the rest of next year.

Unsure what any of it will cost though don't want to pay much more than £100 long term to maintain my weight. I'm hovering around target weight now give or take 3lbs.. I'm putting massive focus on monitoring my calorie intake and exercise now for the first time this year.

Good luck with yours.

X

DearRaven · 22/10/2025 22:59

@Reginaphalangeeeee highest dose taken was 10mg. Couldn't afford to go any higher. I have a 7.5mg pen that is unopened & expires in 2027. The original plan was to titrate down mj then stop. But after putting on weight with this last pen & not getting to target, hoping a change could be as good as a rest. Hope the period comes & goes quickly for you. Peri is such a pain for irregularity.

@Earthgirl3971 had a break & will start Friday 31st as I’ve a free wkend for any SE. Will be taking the starter dose of 0.25 as I was too anxious to go straight on an equivalent dose. I left shemed & have ordered through My London Pharmacy. Not the cheapest but offer maintenance & price match, so hoping I don’t have to shop around if Wegovy works. Hope all goes well for you when you restart ☺️

JBJ · 24/10/2025 10:13

Cheeky weigh in today 3 days early and scales are saying I’ve hit the 6st loss mark 😀 Whether that will still be the case by Monday I don’t know, as I’m staying with a friend this weekend, who doesn’t know I’m on Mounjaro (although I have told her I need to be very careful what I eat because of my gallbladder). Won’t be doing weigh in until I get home Monday though, so won’t be the usual first thing before I’ve eaten anything weigh in. 6st though! I’m over the moon!
