There was another about microdosing, I will see if I can find it, basically saying the same thing.

https://www.thetimes.com/magazines/the-times-magazine/article/ozempic-microdosing-weight-loss-before-after-7kfpm8g38

However, I notice it mentions them not recommending the pens being used after 30 days which the DM seems to advocate.

Also I have seen that doctors advise it as well, for example in e.g. Germany or Spain where the prices have always been higher.

I tried Ozempic microdosing, the secret way the rich lose weight

Microdosing is the latest A-list trend. Times fashion editor Harriet Walker talks to the private doctors who are prescribing ‘bespoke’ weight-loss drugs and asks, could this be the future?

It says she actually does it

Thanks, so the gist of it is

I’d found a cunning way to keep the cost down by ordering injection pens from my ‘dealer’ (a low-cost online pharmacy which asks few questions), requesting large doses (a 10mg pen) each time and making each pen last twice as long by injecting a half dose weekly fix (5mg) into my shrinking belly, buying extra needles online.
According to my back-of-a-napkin calculations, my ‘fix’ costs less than £3 a day which I consider to be a bargain when my childlike appetite means our food and wine bill is down by at least £10 a day.

Haven’t read the article but ffs the comments

‘If you think it is prestigious to be jabbing yourself with organ destroying and cancer inducing filth as well as to be doubly incontinent, ‘

’15 years time we will see more brittle bone disease and heart problems’

’it wont be long till she is back to size 24 or even larger.’

’My sister in law is terribly addicted to whatever glp1 drugs she is so clearly on to the point of looking skeletal’

‘Let’s see if you don’t go blind.’

confirms all I need to know about MJ haters

this one is saying the price rises might not be as bad as thought due to a rebate scheme.

Bit late to say don’t bulk buy. Got to love the Guardian, always behind the curve …

Have just tried to order my 7.5mg pen and Medexpress say ‘we don’t have a suitable treatment for you.’ Which I assume is code for ‘we don’t have any stock of this!’ It isn’t offering me other does though, or options, just an error message!
anyone else had the same?

HereIGoOnceMore · 25/08/2025 21:20

I had a similar message from Medexpress a few days ago when I tried to order 5mg. Fortunately today, I have had confirmation my order from Cloud has been approved. I won’t truly relax until it’s delivered though.

Is your BMI now under 30? They don't take people swapping over to them (even if they can prove they were already on MJ) if they don't meet the initial prescribing criteria for the medication.

QueenOfHiraeth · 25/08/2025 22:15

@KrankyKumquat That's interesting that you know and trust the poster on Reddit. I only saw it here on MN and, rightly or wrongly, felt that it was just being used as another drama so was just pointing out that changing pharmaceuticals is not always a simple change.

I wouldn't be at all surprised though if they are working to change it. It just seems that pharmacies have pushed the limits and people with no knowledge and, often, very little information, are misusing the medication with microdoses, golden doses, etc and trumpeting it all over the internet. I'm not surprised that Lilly are pissed off

PS Can someone give me a tutorial on Reddit please, I haven't got a clue how to find anything over there!

KrankyKumquat · 25/08/2025 22:57

@QueenOfHiraeth
It's ok, I absolutely understand your point - MN can get a bit...overwrought. I've no background in sciencey things so happy to listen and learn from others and I've a lot of time for this person in particular which was why I wanted to add a bit of context. I've no idea if he's right, hopefully it's a storm in a teacup.

No that’s means your bmi is 30 or under and they won’t precribe for that

took me ages to get an answer why it was a no after filling all the form , sending pics etc

why they didn’t say for my height and bmi at the start it’s a no now as I was 23

@QueenOfHiraeth, the original Reddit thread, with the revision to the SmPC, is linked here:

You don't need to navigate anywhere else on Reddit for this one issue, afaik.

Are you an existing, or new customer to Medexpress? I am waiting for my 7.5 dose to be authorised, as is my husband. It’s been about a week and it’s usually done the same day. We’re guessing they may be having stock problems. They haven’t rejected our orders though.

Mnjmnj · 26/08/2025 08:54

I ordered 5mg from MedExpress yesterday. I’ve received a confirmation text and email confirming it has been prescribed. No dispatch/tracking as yet but hopefully it’s ok. I’m an existing customer. Although I guess the lower doses may be more readily available?

I’m an existing customer and ordered 2.5 but it still says awaiting clinical review. It all seems a bit random!

Mnjmnj · 26/08/2025 09:45

Mine came through within an hour or so. I won’t be happy until I have tracking though.

I’ve just received my tracking number - maybe your review got lost in the chaos somewhere? I would hope that a tracking number means you’ve got it!

I hope so! I have a feeling this happened last time.

QueenOfHiraeth · 26/08/2025 10:56

I only ordered one pen from a different provider as mine was already out of stock. It has been approved but sitting on "tracking information available soon" for over a week now. What's the betting it'll suddenly update to come on a day I won't be in!

Blueyshift · 26/08/2025 10:58

I am finding the whole thing just really I don't know unethical/immoral/lack of care. Can't think of the word. Money making!

I have taken my last 10mg and now can't find another. Asda is out and have a pending order with IQ. I can't afford to keep holding £200 on the off chance. I have a BMI of 23-24 so close to goal which is another issue.
I have been on this since June 2024 and now will have to go to zero thats it or 2.5 maybe coz they are still sucking people in.
Terrible!

SwitchingUpWLI · 26/08/2025 11:00

Hey, the chat board is full up on the other thread about increase but wanted to reply to a message from a poster about the situation with Juniper (in case they have moved over)

So registered with Juniper and the ordering page would only allow you to select the 2.5 starter dose (I need 15). This was £189.

I emailed them to query if I could order a 15 as they appeared to have stock and didn’t want to order a low dose pen I can’t use. This is the email reply I got back:

Alec (Juniper - UK)
25 Aug 2025
Hi,

Thank you for your message. To clarify, yes — you will need to pay first before the initial consultation. During that consultation, your prescriber will review your case and recommend the dose that is most appropriate for you.

At that stage, you’ll be asked to approve the dosage before anything is sent out. If you don’t wish to proceed with the prescribed dose, you can cancel and request a refund. If you do proceed, the price will then be adjusted according to the dosage prescribed (so you won’t be charged for a 2.5 mg pen if that isn’t suitable for you).

This way, you’ll only receive and pay for the treatment that is clinically appropriate and that you agree to.

Best regards,
Alec

SwitchingUpWLI · 26/08/2025 11:03

Wondering what to do now, whether to go ahead and pay the £189 for the 2.5 in the hope that they do actually follow through with the consultation they describe and agree the higher pen I need.

I don’t want to pay £189 and be sent the wrong pen. Has anyone else had this with Juniper and did they come good with actually correcting the doseage and sending the right dose pen?

I find it pretty shocking that a national newspaper is publishing an article advocating taking a prescription only medication in a way that goes against the Patient Information Leaflet.

I mean many of us are thinking of doing similar and are discussing the safety of it here but I thought the Mail would not allow that in print. Is there no disclaimer? Does she say she has actually started doing it or she thought about it but then didn’t because the leaflet says 30 days per pen?

They are writing for clicks. This has become a hot button subject, and people who don’t need/can’t afford/decided not to take WLIs are enjoying the schedenfreud of seeing stupid people (handily “epitomised” by the journalist) doing stupid things.

I doubt the journalist is even taking WLIs. She’s like a fantasy too online idiot designed to get people frothing.
