5th dose

Hi all,

A query about the bonus dose. I've never used it before as it seemed too much faff, but now with the price hikes it's seeming daft not to. I've bought sterile syringes from a pharmacy and this Friday I have what I need to extract and take it.

This Friday will be the 28th day that the pen has been open, so within the 30 days. However, I don't typically keep mine in the fridge once I've started it. Do you think this constitutes an unacceptable risk and would I be better off disposing of the pen this Friday, starting a new one and making sure that I refrigerate that one throughout the month so I can extract the 5th dose more safely next time?

For what it's worth I am careful with using the alcohol wipe on the red bit each time.

It's within the 30 days and has been stored as per the instructions. You could be taking your 4th dose this week due to illness or holiday, using the pen, and that would be absolutely fine. So, I don't think it's any more risky based on that.

The 30 days is out of the fridge as per the official guidance - it says no need to refrigerate after first dose taken. Many users choose to keep it refrigerated throughout and certainly more people will be doing this going forward if they intend to use smaller doses from bigger pens and go past the 30 days, but you won’t be and it’s absolutely fine to use.

Good points, both. Think I will go ahead and use as planned this Friday and then keep future pens in fridge because why not? Thanks for the thoughts.
