Creating this in advance, as the old thread is suddenly moving quickly due to recent events. No matter what challenges lie ahead we are still making amazing progress - so let’s keep supporting one another along the way as we approach 4 months ‘on the pen’.

Morning all... Happy Monday!

Weigh-in day

SW 87.65kg
CW 73.1kg
GW 65kg

So that's a 0.5kg (1.1 lb) loss this week. Pretty happy with that. I'm hoping that the slow and steady losses will help my body gradually adjust, making me less likely to pile it all on again... Time will tell!

Because I do running, I also track my weight on my Garmin app. It tells me that I should try to reduce my BMI until I get to at least 23.1... So that's about 69kg. I think that'll be my next mini goal! It also tells me I now have a fitness age of 44 (I'm 47) and that my VO2 max (the rate at which your body uses oxygen during intense exercise) is in the top 35% for my age and gender... Wowsers so there's life in the old dog yet! 😂🏃🏻‍♀️💨... Honestly I used to look at that metric and it was telling me I was in the bottom 45% for so long... These all feel like nice little victories!

I'm kind of low key training for a half marathon... I've never managed to run that far before. I have a long standing knee injury and it usually flares up before I manage to make it that far. That's why I'm only low-key training! I'm going to see how far I can get, but if the old knee starts giving me trouble I'll just stop and stick to shorter distances. I do think being overweight will have put more stress on my joints previously, so that's why I think it might be worth giving it another go now I'm lighter... Let's see!

Congrats on your loss @Nearlyhadenough! 💪

Happy birthday and well done on the loss @PumpKim! 🥳

And well done on your loss @Zebracat! 🎉

Keep on trucking everyone! Have a great week! 😊

Going to see friends today, I only see twice a year. Last time I saw them it was 13 days before my first jab! 57 lbs heavier. It will be interesting to see their reaction.
Happy Monday everyone!

StartingApril2025 · 13/10/2025 11:41

@Merlin23 excited for you and their response! I saw some friends at weekend who I haven’t seen since Easter just before I started and il be honest was very surprised that not one comment or mention was made! Typically I wouldn’t even notice but these friends always always talk about their weight/ their exercise programmes etc ( super slim) and for years I was always embarrassed as the fat friend sitting there. So it was a surprise that nothing was mentioned , I commented as usual that they were both looking well, loved their outfit etc and they said thanks. Anyway not going to let it bother me and in general I prefer less comments anyway, just stung a little!
@PeachSnail @PumpKim @Nearlyhadenough @Zebracat well done all fab successes and to everyone else hope you had a good weekend too!

Coffeeandallthebooks · 13/10/2025 16:02

@slightlysmallerPoisonIvy It would be great if my loss of height was due to loss of fat, I will have to see when I get my results!

My GP agreed to a Dexa scan as I had an autoimmune disease which required years on lots of steroids, which can cause loss of bone density. She said she didn't expect I would have any, so I should find out in the next 6 weeks.
I am of course dying to find out my fat percentages but I don't know if they would have recorded these - I'm going to ask her just in case!

Nothing got said until the friend who dropped me at the station said she didn't want to say anything in case I'd been ill. Told me I looked great. Which was lovely.
The other person is too polite to mention anything in case I'd been ill.
Had a lovely lunch salmon with a quinoa salad.

cannyvalley · 14/10/2025 08:12

Hi all, happy Tuesday. And happy birthdays and spa days and size 14’s and other scale and non scale victories to all! lovely to hear all your updates.

im still trundling on in the background. Having work done in the house which is my idea of hell, but nearly done now.

to those who have been stung by friends not mentioning weight loss…I think some people just feel awkward about knowing what to say ? I had a really awkward and strange interaction this week with the work security guard I used to see and chat to every day, and haven’t seen in several months.

we chatted, said hi etc, and he kept sneaking little looks at me. Then when we chatted again he sort of bumbled on asking me if anything t had changed… had I changed my hair… I looked at him quite puzzled and he told me I looked a bit different and I looked well… he was clearly mortified with how badly he was doing at complimenting me (for clarity, he is older and married and knows I’m married and a lesbian, it wasn’t a flirt) and I realised he was trying to reflect on my big weight loss but didn’t want to appear rude. Maybe he thought I would be offended ?

anyway.

it’s cold and wet here and I wish I could curl up in a blanket, but I’m off to work.

Hope everyone has a great day xxxx

Seahawk80 · 14/10/2025 08:36

Hi everyone, I’ve been a bit absent as work and kids have kept me super busy. Just had a big catch up and congratulations to everyone on the NSVs and losses - even the small ones - as you get closer to goal weight it will slow down!

@Crunchymumthinking of you and your dad.

@StartingApril2025thats disappointing about your friends, perhaps they just didn’t know what to say, I think sometimes people don’t want to say you’ve lost loads of weight - I.e. you were fat! I went out with a friend last week and she’s not one for subtlety - she said I look like a different person!

I’ve been consistently losing 2lb a week but nervous for this week as had a 3 course lunch on Saturday plus beer and pizza Sunday 🙈.

had a lovely NSV today, put on a dress that had always been snug and it is loose!! I tried it on for work back in June and thought no, I need to loose a bit more and now it’s hanging off but still looks good! Will remember this if I’ve had a gain tomorrow.

Good Luck to everyone this weekend, let’s keep plodding towards that goal!

GoGoGovy · 14/10/2025 08:39

Morning!

My Tuesday weigh in. Very little movement on the scales. Up one day, down the next. These last 4 lbs are refusing to budge.

I was going to go down to 1mg from 1.3 ( wegovy), but suppression is pretty low on 1.3, so I think 1 would be pointless.

Still loving mixing and matching new outfits with the clothes found in the attic. I have bought a few new things as well. Totally agree with what @AbundanceofKatherines says re. sizing. Some of my old size 12’s are very tight, whereas new high street 12’s fit nicely.
Anyway, I’ve been channeling my inner Claudia with tweeds, tartans and clumpy boots. The rediscovery of fashion/style has been my biggest nsv. Loving it!

Onwards and downwards, guys x

Merlin23 · 14/10/2025 08:52

@Crunchymum
Hope you're dad is ok!
My mum is hopefully getting out of hospital today after 4 1/2 weeks. The joys if falling.
Another reason I want to lose the weight and keep it off. So I'll be fitter and healthier as I get older.

GoGoGovy · 14/10/2025 09:25

@Crunchymum best wishes to you and your Dad (I somehow missed your post). I know it’s a very scary time. The NHS gets a lot of bad press, but their 2 week pathway is excellent.

@Merlin23 that is my biggest motivation too ( although the clothes are nice 😀). I’ve had a couple of nasty illnesses in the last few years and this was a wake up call. Losing weight is just the start of the health kick.

Crunchymum · 14/10/2025 09:41

Thank you for all the kind messages!

Dad get told immediately after the appointment that they hadn't detected any cancer and he has been removed from the cancer pathway. There are some polyps they want to remove to biopsy to make sure (so not totally out of the woods) but he has to stop taking blood thinners for a few weeks first and then its another colonoscopy and they'll remove a few polyps for further testing.

Sorry for the grim bowel talk!

I lost my mum very suddenly and unexpectedly a few years ago (she had a heart attack and died at home, she was only 65) so I am glad Dad 'lives to fight another day'

@Merlin23 I bet your mum will be so happy and relieved to be home after her hospital stay. That was a long one, bless her.

Coventree · 14/10/2025 15:28

Happy NSVs, losses, healthy(ish) parents, friends too polite to say anything, and birthdays!

I’ve ordered a new pen for the first time since the price rises were announced in Aug - I was feeling the pressure of not being at goal weight (another 20lbs to go) and only 10 doses left to include time to titrate down to adjust, all of which co-incides with an all-inclusive hols this half-term, my 50th in Dec and Christmas… So just ordered a new one and as it will be 8 weeks this Thursday since my last prescription, my bmi’s 27.5, and I’m swapping to a new supplier to get the first order discount, I wasn’t sure if it would go through okay. Sure enough, it got paused and questions asked about the gap in prescriptions, but I explained I purchased two pens in late August due to the price rises and sent a screenshot of my Shotsy app showing medication levels every week since April to show I’d been consistently taking it. It’s been approved just now 🎉. Just thought I’d share in case anyone else was wavering - in the ‘olden’ days, anything more than an 8 week gap in prescription dates would result in having to restart at 2.5mg (I think) so you might need to get in there quick if so, unless suppliers are being more pragmatic post the pendemic!

Coventree · 15/10/2025 07:34

Wednesday weigh-in time: 1lb lost this week 🎉. Teetering on the edge of the 150s so 🤞that will happen this week.

wlinewbie0425 · 15/10/2025 07:45

Well done @Coventree🎉 weds weigh in for me too and after weeks of tiny increments I have 1.2lb loss which feels like a woosh at this stage! It even fluctuated a wee bit lower at the weekend but I’m now a bit bloated ahead of time of the month.

adding that to my notes I realised it was my end of week 25 weigh in so… one more week until 6 months.

remember I said I would try to add up all our regular user’s losses? Let’s all share loss at the end of week 26 weigh in. So for some that’s over the coming days I think. And let’s do whole pounds (round to nearest pound) for ease of adding without conversions then I’ll share the total in all the possible versions including some equivalent weighted things. I have a feeling it’s going to blow us all away.

Coventree · 15/10/2025 07:48

Congrats @wlinewbie0425! 🎉👏 And that sounds a great idea and yes, will be mind blowing at collectively how much we’ve lost 🤯

wlinewbie0425 · 15/10/2025 07:53

6 month weigh in totals.

Between today and the end of the month most of us will reach 6 months since the beginning of our wli journey.

when you get to the end of your week 26 please share your total loss during those weeks in pounds and tag me (type @ then my username) if you are able to.

l’ll go back through on the 31st and work out our grand total for those who want to share 🙂 in lb/kg/stone&lb and some other units.

We have a lot to celebrate as a random gang of internet strangers who supported one another to quite literally change our lives this year! I can’t wait to see that number.

edited to add - if you started in early May just share where you are on the 31st. I remembered our first thread was called late April/early May but then a busy May thread took off and I shortened the name in subsequent threads.

Congrats on the losses @Coventreeand @wlinewbie0425! My fellow Wednesday weighers.

A 2lb gain for me this week as expected, annoying but I had a very heavy weekend of food. Focusing on the fact that I’ve lost 2st 9lb and feel amazing and can wear clothes I had banished to the back of the wardrobe! Going to have a very lean week this week and make sure I’m in deficit.

wlinewbie0425 · 15/10/2025 07:58

Well done on keeping perspective @Seahawk80we have to still enjoy life to make this sustainable long term. I love when people share gains on here so we all know it’s normal and don’t just celebrate big losses.

OP posts:
Seahawk80 · 15/10/2025 08:03

Thanks @wlinewbie0425 - I agree. I also meant to say I’ve lost all that weight in a way that does feel sustainable. I don’t feel like I’ll look back on this summer thinking I was so hungry and missing out all the time. I feel like I’ve changed how I eat rather than “been on a diet” and that is huge.

So true @Seahawk80i haven’t felt deprived over these 6 months still had occasional treats and takeaways and celebrations - just a complete mindset shift.

morning everyone, have been AWOL lately as super busy at work and had STS the last 2 weeks so nothing to report in that sense.

Finally had a wee whoosh and 3lbs down today, I am usually a steady 1lb per week kind of gal so 3lbs seems a lot to me 😁31lbs in total

Glad to hear parents are okay and all the other NSVs / SVs everyone is reporting, can't believe it will be 6months for us all at the end of Oct

Definitely good to have that perspective @Seahawk80 very refreshing and so true 😀

Hope everyone has a good day

AbundanceofKatherines · 15/10/2025 09:02

Thought for today :)

I’ve always eaten a healthy diet. I love salad, veg and lean protein and am not a massive eater of processed foods & carbs. My main problem has been the quantity and frequency of my eating.

The biggest changes MJ has made:

I eat much less frequently - 3 times a day with no need to snack.

I eat much less at each meal. I used to have a thing about clearing my plate. Partly due to disliking waste, but mainly due to greed and the pleasure I get from eating. With MJ I can’t eat much (reduced appetite plus anticipation of unpleasant effects from eating too much).

I therefore serve myself much smaller plates of food. When eating out I focus on enjoying the experience. I am happy to have 3 courses (if at an event, eg) but I just eat a few mouthfuls of each course. No one has ever noticed that I don’t eat much (afaiaa). I still love eating out and enjoy the food, plus I don’t feel horribly bloated and guilty afterwards. I often ask for doggy bags, if appropriate - which is free food!

I hope this continues - I do not need to clear my plate.

Looking forward to hearing about our combined weight loss! My 6 months is up at the end of next week.

Merlin23 · 15/10/2025 09:16

My main change which I will keep is eating off a smaller plate. Not finishing everything is psychological as we were all told to finish food as children. So many of our mindsets stem from childhood. Why do we emotionally eat? When you got hurt as a child or you were upset, you were probably offered a sweet treat to cheer you up.

We are all battling our conditioning.
That is why this is a lifestyle change and mindset change.
I still like the put it in the bin not in my mouth I am not a bin. I don't know who said that but that will definitely stay with me.

PeachSnail · 16/10/2025 08:02

Gosh... I just did some calculations and realised that if I continue to lose at approximately 0.5kg per week, I still have 16 weeks until I reach my goal weight... Which brings me to early February. But if we factor in the likelihood of weight loss stalling/slowing around the festive period, it could be March even.

I currently only have enough pens to last me until March... So I've worked out I'll probably need another one just to be on the safe side... I'm terrified of putting it all on again and I'd like to try gradually titrating down to avoid the cold turkey effect of food noise returning with a bang.

Anyway, I've just ordered another 5mg pen from IQ Doctor (cheapest on Monj at £143). I ordered my last pen in late August, so fingers crossed I manage to get approval 🤞
