Imissgoldengrahams · 16/08/2025 11:58

I only have 2 doses left in my pen
I hadn't ordered before now as had to wait for pay day
But now I can't find any chemist with mj in stock
Why are people so selfish and panic buying 😩

The blame is on the pharmacies being greedy and selling to new customers and not being able to fulfill orders from their existing customers

marblebutterfly · 16/08/2025 14:04

Rumour has it that Eli Lilly aren't delivering now until after the price hike so those who have mass ordered may no even get their orders either if it's true.

CoastalCalm · 16/08/2025 14:05

I used pillsorted yesterday - got a 12.5 for about £150 after discount

I have nothing left. Injection day is on Wednesday and I couldn't pick up my prescription until today because I've been abroad. Just been to the pharmacy and nada. They have taken payment though. I know there's technically a dose left in the pen but I can't get it out. Zava have closed their phone lines and it could take 4-6 business days for a reply, so I'm going to be screwed on Wednesday. I was thinking of switching to wegovy anyway so I might just ask for a refund if they can't get the stock and switch. This is only my 2nd month so probably am better doing this.

You can get insulin needles to extract the remaining dose, I’ve done this for a while and is v easy and just as comfortable to inject (I find the action smoother imo).

Fairfaxandflavor · 16/08/2025 13:05

@SwitchingUpWLI ,I used your medicals, for my initial two pens they were veeery slow in fulfilling the order, like 2 weeks I think from first ordering, so I don't know what they'll be like with an inundation of orders, I had to constantly badger them, kept saying they were having a high volume of orders?!? (this was in Feb) they did supply it in the end, but bear in mind that was my experience.

Thanks for the heads up @Fairfaxandflavor I’ve got two doses left so have a bit of a time buffer if yourmedicals is slow

spoonbillstretford · 16/08/2025 14:17

I ordered my next pen early, but it was only after the usual reminder from the pharmacy., which I normally ignore until the end of the month. I think that's common sense not selfishness, particularly as I'm on 15mg!

chowmeinz · 16/08/2025 14:18

what dose? Perhaps people could help?

editied to clarify I mean how OP look

I ain't buying it to stock up is the difference

You don't know that anyone else is.

CoverMeInMarmalade · 16/08/2025 14:33

Last I saw, Chemist4U said they had stock of all doses. Oushk said they expect stock of all doses next week (at current prices). There may be others...

You may just have to try and lose weight the traditional way until you can get buy some more!

Look at switching to wegovy. If you are struggling to buy mounjarro now, it’s going to be really tough. I only have a stone to go and am due another pen at the end of the month. I will see then if I need to switch. I am really sorry for the people at the beginning of their journey.

I’m a bit confused by this comment. The ’traditional way’ is diet and exercise, right? Because I do that and use MJ to support it.

l3tsdanc3 · 16/08/2025 12:58

I also can’t get it - I’ve only ever been with 2 pharmacies and both are out of stock. As I’m nearing goal weight I don’t think anyone will accept me now as a new customer - not sure, but was really happy with my providers as they supported a maintenance approach and was planning on weaning off slowly. Looks like I’m going to have to go cold turkey in 2 weeks time

Asda are still showing MJ as in stock and available to existing and new customers. I haven’t tried to order though.

Scarlettpixie · 16/08/2025 15:12

Buying extra because the prices are going up isn't panic buying. People are doing it so they can stay on it longer than they might otherwise be able to afford. I have always bought one at a time but after the news broke on Thursday I ordered extra. I have put it on my credit card as I don't have the money and I won't be able to afford the new prices. I still have 2.5 stone to loose and I am not ready to stop. I am sorry but of course people are going to prioritise themselves in this.

Thank you for this insightful contribution. I dont know why I didnt think of this until I spent money on these injections 🙄

IsItSnowing · 16/08/2025 15:34

If you check the monj list there are still lots of suppliers showing as having stock. Quite a lot are out of stock especially the higher doses or only supplying to existing customers. But I think it's still possible to get some.
I had to go through quite a few consultations yesterday only to discover they didn't have any in stock. But I did get some eventually. Unfortunately, the cheaper ones are all out of stock.

I ordered via Asda 2 weeks ago and it says approved and in stock but can't get hold of any. They are saying they have 2.5mg but nothing above. I'm trying to get hold of them to find out if it's regional but they've closed the phonelines due to the number of people calling

Just out of interest, when people are talking about being scared to go ‘cold turkey’ is that because they’re worried about piling the weight back on or do you get some withdrawal symptoms when you stop WLI?

Their appetites return with a vengeance and they put it all back on.

The weight loss is only sustainable for as long as they have their injections.
The drug itself suppresses their appetite, nothing else. Once that disappears, so does the visible waistline.

WLI are nothing more than a glorified (and very expensive) cabbage soup diet.

I’ve wondered this but didn’t know how to put it without sounding…well, you know. I have a BMI of 30 but I’m not on WLI. I have lost weight before on diets, put it back on and doubtless will do again. That doesn’t frighten me the way people are talking about being frightened of having to come off these drugs.

I kind of assume that its the general sense of wellness, clarity and of not being hungry for the first time in your life that is such a relief to people that they are genuinely scared of losing that.

To explain where I’m coming from - I’m in a similar situation to this with private prescriptions for another medication not related to weight and have been scared at times when (due to changing government directives) it looked like I couldn’t get it any more as I knew if I had to go to the NHS they would only offer me an ineffective alternative treatment, and that after a long delay and many consultations.

Oh dear, someone has issues, get over yourself😂

WLI (GLP-1 meds like Wegovy/Mounjaro) aren’t a ‘cabbage soup diet.’ They’re evidence-based treatments that change hunger/satiety signalling. There isn’t a ‘withdrawal’ syndrome if you stop; your appetite just goes back to baseline, which is why some people regain—same as when any treatment for a chronic condition is stopped. Lots of us also work on habits, sleep, stress and movement alongside the meds. It’s not cheating; it’s healthcare. Hunger signals return if you stop, so some regain happens—like coming off blood-pressure meds and seeing BP rise again. That doesn’t make treatment ‘cheating'.

SilenceInside · 16/08/2025 15:57

@FedupMum2024 you’re displaying your ignorance about how WLI work, they are not an appetite suppressant alone. You can read up about the multiple mechanisms and how it affects your blood sugar levels, how you utilise the energy from food and how it affects the way you use stored fat.

@beautyqueeen this poster has some sort of beef with obese people and/or obese people using WLI. Mystified as to why. To answer your question, a lot of people had planned to continue taking a lower maintenance dose, or drop down gradually to a lower dose to enable their weight loss to be maintained longer term. The idea being to spend a long time at target weight in the hopes of making that the new normal. Mounjaro is approved for long term use. There is no medical reason why just stopping would be harmful or an issue, and you don’t get withdrawal symptoms as it’s not something that your body is dependent on in that way.

beautyqueeen · 16/08/2025 16:02

Thanks for the responses, I know with a lot of medications (anti-depressants, opioids etc) you have to reduce down before stopping to prevent any nasty withdrawal symptoms so I wondered if WLI fell into that category but good to hear not with the impending shortage for people!

At no point did I mention the word 'withdrawal' and neither did I say using WLI was 'cheating'

@FedupMum2024no, you just made yourself sound like an arse because what you wrote isn’t factually correct.
