If you panic bought, what will happen when they finish?

I have 2 pens in the fridge already (as I use the 5th dose) and panic ordered 2 pens last night from 2 of the providers that I've used before.

So that will keep me going for 4/5 months. But then what? I'm worrying that pharmacies won't allow me to order a 10mg pen with a 4/5 month gap since I last ordered one. Will they make me go back to 2.5?

I'm worried because IQdoctor don't allow a gap of more than 5 weeks between orders, and PharmacyExpress is 6 weeks.

Do you think they'll change the rules and allow the new orders a few months down the line, knowing so many people stockpiled?

(PLEASE this is not a thread to bash me for buying 2 pens. I have been so upset all last night and today, so don't need to be made to feel worse)

I ordered my normal 15mg pen when these whispers started about the increases, but before it hit the news. This sort of solidified my decision to move up. I then joined the Oushk live and she said that their advice was to order three pens! So I followed my prescriber’s advice and bought two more.

Tbh what does it really matter what it’s called? I don’t know what’s so difficult about wrapping your condescending brain around the fact that people are trying to buy as much as they can afford to before prices rise by approx. 170%!

If you can afford to then why wouldn’t you and save hundreds for yourself? No need for soreness just because you can’t. That’s life, suck it up 🙄

Therefore people are indeed stock piling. It isn't soreness..i just want to buy 1 pen so I can take my regular dose on Wednesday!

People are saving money in a cost of living crisis.

The way I see it, it’s like if Tesco announced they were selling stable cupboard foods for 10p a bag or something. People would maximise on what they could get.

I fail to see how some on this thread are finding it so difficult to buy a single pen. It’s nuts to me to leave it till the previous pen is completed before buying another but that aside there’s plenty of stock available. I have also ordered all I’ll need to complete my MJ journey and to taper off. But I used several suppliers to get what I wanted as I did it after the news broke. They are all being delivered next week by Wednesday latest so how on earth are there people who still can’t get theirs. If your previous supplier is delaying then go elsewhere, it’s not hard.

I'm with Medicine Marketplace but have bought more from other places. My last pen from MMP was a 5. I'm still only taking 2.5 so I plan to buy a 7 5, then a 10, then a 15 and that together with what I'll have already should seem me at target with a relatively long weaning/maintenance period 🤞

You’ll struggle to get anything over 7.5mg because if your last prescription was for 5mg they will only allow you to order a 7.5mg. Even with you explaining they’ll not allow it.

Why are people kicking off saying they can’t have another pen cos their provider is out of stock? It’s not hard to find another supplier. Monj.co.uk has plenty of pharmacies with all dosages in stock.

That’s not true though as several pharmacies have been offering bundles like this for some time.

I was on the fence whether to buy another pen anyway, as I've near enough reached my target weight (1lb off). Decided to get one now, so I can keep the maintenance going for a bit longer and then hopefully keep it off by myself afterwards! Ordered a 5mg pen yesterday with no problems (counting clicks for 2.5 dose to make it last longer).
Tbh I'd been thinking of staying on it for a while just on a low maintenance dose, but if it really is shooting up in price then I just won't, and have to maintain my weight the "hard" old fashioned way...

How is it so easy to buy and stock pile prescription medicines like this? Any other prescriptions are given as needed.. I can’t think of another POM that you could just buy extra of.

If you had read my posts I'm away on holiday. I don't have any ID with me to prove my identity to go to a new company. I ordered my pen to arrive when I get home.

Furthermore in 8 months of using medexpress every single time my meds have been delivered within 24 hours. I ordered Friday thinking Monday delivery and i dont need it until Wednesday. How was I to know this time would coincide with stockpiling.

My plan is to order 7.5 next time I'm due in September, then 10 the following month and 15 the month after that. That won't be an issue, stock allowing, as I won't have had a break with them. I'll just be progressing through the doses.

You can buy as much as you like of pretty much anything sold through the online doctor services. Weight loss, erectile disfunction, malarials, contraceptives, sexual health treatments, asthma medication, ect ect. No-one will check if you double order because these are not treatments which are subject to abuse. Paracetamol is far more dangerous in terms of overdose.

My view is that this is nothing like Covid. People are just saving money like I would do stocking up on pasta when it’s on offer. There will be plenty of stock in two weeks as Lilly are rationing supply to the pharmacies to protect their profits supply chain, so virtually no-one will go without. If you’ve really cut it so fine you will run out it will only be a weeks gap.

of the places offering bundles they offer a max of 3 so 2.5, 5 and 7.5 or 5, 7.5 and 10. You can’t buy 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5 and 15 all in one go and they won’t allow someone to buy a 3 bundle and then add a 15mg as per the person I quoted.

Also if you’re new to a pharmacy, their bundles start with 2.5mg even if you say you’re on 5 or 7.5 already. AND most places now have a max purchase of 1 pen, assuming they have stock as 7.5mg, 12.5 and 15 are quite popular at the moment.

That’s out of date already you can’t order 10mg from Asda as out of stock, I managed to get 7.5mg and I believe that is out of stock too. The only ones available when I checked today was 2.5mg and 5mg

But they could be abused. Extreme weight loss or hypoglycaemia come to mind.

I just find it astounding that there isn’t more monitoring.

I’m with Oushk - when the news hit they advised customers to order up to 3 pens. I ordered a 5mg and a 7.5mg. Since my supplier suggested I buy extra it didn’t occur to me they would run out of stock - I do sympathise with people who are now finding their supply chain disrupted but I also can’t believe people leave reordering so late. Because of using the bonus dose and then taking 3.75mg from 5mg pens I tend to have spares anyway - I’ve made sure to do this because when I started lots of people were talking about doses being out of stock and I didn’t ever want to be in a position where I didn’t have my next pen ready…

Anyway, to answer the OPs question. I am only 8lb from target and have a maintenance called booked in September- I’ll have enough to taper down for a while and plan to go onto a maintenance program where they allow a gap in ordering anyway.

So you’re not planning to buy these up now when the price is still low which is what I believed you meant by your post and you’re just going to go 7.5, 10, 12.5 and then 15 each month. Interesting considering you say you’re still using 2.5mg, so are you planning to use these does in smaller increments?

I didn’t say there was no potential for self harm. They are not drugs of abuse in the sense of being addictive or causing social harm.

I’ve just done my weekly online shop. I have bought many things with the potential for harm. Gin, bleach, paracetamol, knives…. In this country if you’re given clear guidelines for safe use and still manage to hurt yourself, then that’s on you. I like our approach 🤷‍♀️

Then why are they prescription only? By your argument they should also be available in your on line shop. (Which would be a separate argument altogether).
