If you panic bought, what will happen when they finish?

I have 2 pens in the fridge already (as I use the 5th dose) and panic ordered 2 pens last night from 2 of the providers that I've used before.

So that will keep me going for 4/5 months. But then what? I'm worrying that pharmacies won't allow me to order a 10mg pen with a 4/5 month gap since I last ordered one. Will they make me go back to 2.5?

I'm worried because IQdoctor don't allow a gap of more than 5 weeks between orders, and PharmacyExpress is 6 weeks.

Do you think they'll change the rules and allow the new orders a few months down the line, knowing so many people stockpiled?

(PLEASE this is not a thread to bash me for buying 2 pens. I have been so upset all last night and today, so don't need to be made to feel worse)

I only use 2.5mg so won’t have this issue but I do wonder what others will do when it comes to it. I hope there is a solution everyone.

I am using 2.5mg, and have brought another x 3 pens which will keep me going for a little while. Once they have finished, and the pricing has stabilised I am hoping to continue with 2.5mg. Fingers crossed!

You can send them proof of the pens you’ve bought. Just keep the boxes and explain you bought in advance because of the price hike. There will be a lot of people doing the same

I think this will happen to a lot of people who panic bought. There’s no way to knowing if they will accept your explanation but probably best to email them soon and ask.

How can you buy from different suppliers? I only buy from one, didn't know you can buy from different ones..

If you panic bought you're an arsehole. I've no pens left so went to order today as usual for next week. Always had delivery within 24 hours...now potentially a 10 day delay which fucks up my administration.

Lots of places have supply. Buy from somewhere else. And stock up if you can afford it. Why wouldn't you?

Also I think it's really unethical that you're allowed to buy numerous medications at the same time. This could lead to people having complications or issues as no one agency is able to monitor.
I'm also on holiday so don't have ID etc to be able to go to a new supplier just like that.

I never would let myself run out and need a pen delivered when I had none so I have a full pen ( I use 5 doses) and have re-ordered another 2. Was going to order next week so just a week early for me. All at 15mg. Expecting that will be me completely done when they are finished. I may even use the last pen to deliver micro doses and stretch it out even longer to just use for maintenance so I’m not cold Turkey. I’ve not got much more to lose now and MJ has been great for me. I don’t blame people panicking. You can’t buy more than one pen per supplier anyway now so it’s not panic buying multiples that’s an issue here. It’s people trying to avoid the price increase especially when almost done and not able to transition to another formulation.

Well thank you very bloody much. My new prescription was due to order on Saturday as usual and now they are completely out of stock and aren't processing as my orders.

Do you apply this to all medications or just WLI?

I imagine they will order as usual, so no break in orders. A lot of pharmacies let you order every 2-3 weeks.

If they have the disposable income to buy extra, they’ve done just that, and then will carry on ordering at their usual schedule.

You can get 2.5mg anywhere very easily just now. If that’s not what you need my order hasn’t affected you. If it is what you need my order also hasn’t affected you, given it’s available still.

I’m also a arsehole - zero regrets.

I’m with Oushk. They recommended buying up to three. I can’t see that they’ll turn around in 3 months say “tough!”, especially to those of us sticking with them.

I’m confused about this as I’ve only ever ordered a new pen when my existing is coming to an end - I order on week 3 and have it ready after week 4.
The one time I tried to order an extra pen earlier than this (to take away on an extended holiday) I wasn’t able to, I was told I couldn’t have more than one at the same time as they wouldn’t keep.
Are people really bulk buying and do they actually keep if stored in the fridge?

I think it’s fair enough. We all know from Covid what happens when people stockpile, panic buy and hoard. It affects other people. Fine to do it if it’s allowed and you don’t care. But also fine for other people to be angry and sad.

Except all orders are now suspended and no matter what the dose I can't get any more. Everything is out of stock.

Instead of ordering every 4 weeks as normal, the entire world went crazy and ordered in the same 2 days, meaning everyone who sticks to their normal ordering regime can't actually get their prescription.

It's th stock-piling attitude that caused the shortage.

No need to be rude to people.
Everybody will do the best they can to ensure they get their own essential medication in a crisis.
If you weren’t able to do so for whatever reason that is sad for you but blame trump and eli lily not ordinary people trying to manage their health as best they can.

Not at my prescriber, everything is out of stock. All doses.

This is a very very different scenario to covid.
