If you’ve been on mounjaro for a while / have started maintenance, what dose have you settled on?

Just wondering if people have generally found a dose that works for them and stayed there, or carried on going up to the max - and if you’ve hit the max, have you felt it’s started wearing off at all?

I stayed on 2.5 for quite a few months but have gone up pretty regularly every 5 weeks to 10mg since then. I might be feeling like I could stay here for a while - I think I’ll get another 10 pen next.

I can see from providers that there’s a shortage of 12.5 at the moment - does that indicate it’s a popular dose?

Just wondering if your body continues to acclimatise or if you find a happy balance and can stay there - or even titrate down for maintenance. Interested in how it’s worked for others.

I was on 7.5mg for 34 weeks and have been on 10mg for 13 weeks so far and will be staying on that dose for a while I think. Perhaps until I have reached my target weight, that's certainly my hope as it will be cheaper than moving up to the 12.5mg or 15mg doses. But I'll move up if I need to.

Is there a widespread shortage of 12.5mg? Monj only shows a few suppliers with limited or no stock. I think that's probably indicative of those pharmacies just keeping less stock of the higher doses as it's more expensive for them to buy.

I did this...

As I struggled so much with getting earlier dose right (2.5 mg not enough but 5 mg way too much) I was suprised that I went up the higher doses fairly rapidly in comparison.

15 mg is working very well for me now - hope it continues! I lose slowly and want to use it for maintanence so at least another year on MJ planned. I'm presuming at 15 mg but we'll see.

I’m with you on that - the impact of the supposedly not even a proper dose 2.5 was huge for me for ages, but I’ve shot up through 5/7.5/10. I hope you feel settled at 15 for the long haul. I’m also expecting to use it a long time (possibly forever for maintenance).

Never needed to go above 5ml. Lost 3 stone and have been maintaining on 2ml and just last week dropped to 1.25ml (counting the clicks) to see how I do on that. Will go back up to 2 or 2.5 if needs be.

I’m with Care pharmacy who seem to indicate there’s some shortage (photo attached pending) but it may well be as you say! Could mean it’s an unpopular dose as much as it’s a popular one.

I’m glad that’s worked for you. You must be putting the effort in with healthy eating too, well done - I’ve had a few less focused moments and I think perhaps it’s easy to chase that slightly sick / really can’t eat feeling by increasing the dose to force you back on track!

I have been low-carbing plus 16/8 as well as the jabs. I am quite lucky in that I have never been hungry at breakfast time so it’s quite easy to just go til lunchtime on lots of mint tea!!

SilenceInside · 11/08/2025 14:32

@roshi42 I see that there have been some shortages of 12.5mg and 15mg but it does seem that only a few pharmacies have been affected, so I do wonder how much is down to managing supply chains and how much is down to widespread shortages direct from the manufacturer.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 11/08/2025 16:22

I hit goal about 8 weeks ago and have only just started moving down the doses. I only got as high as 10mg and am now in my 3rd week back on 7.5. I do seem to be still losing though and get so full I struggle to eat more (except a crazy snacky day like today! 🤷‍♀️).

During my losing phase, I spent 4 weeks on 2.5, 20 on 5mg, 9 on 7.5 and 26 (I think!) on 10mg. I felt most ‘normal’ on 5mg so that’s where I’m hoping to settle for the rest of my life!! 😂 I am however open to any and all changes so would move up if needed!

The shortages of 12.5 and 15 came about due to EL’s pharmacy allocations rather than them being ‘favoured’ doses.

I marched straight up to 15 over 6 months, losing 3 stone as I went, and then hit major issues - two really horrible bouts of vomiting over a couple of days each in a short period. I’d had vomiting bouts before but not as severe. Got my prescriber’s advice, and I stopped completely for 2 weeks, and then restarted 2 doses down at 10, and have just stayed there. I’ve plateaued for a while but there are signs with more exercise that I’m losing again. I’m reluctant to go up or down at the moment, if I can get back to some loss however slow I will stay here a bit longer, possibly until I come off eventually.

Searingtheserum · 11/08/2025 20:00

Those micro dosing, do you just stock up on pens or have you found a prescriber who will let you order a 2.5 pen whenever?
I think I would like to micro dose soon, and am not clued up as to how it works really, I think I saw somewhere that a prescriber would let you have a 2. 5 pen ad hoc,?
I've got some pens stocked up that will last me a while but I think I need to stay on a micro dose to keep on track, rather than stopping completely, 3 and a half stones down I'm petrified of putting it all back on, I have changed my diet completely, prioritising protein and doing 16. 8, no alcohol at all, but the hunger comes back when I've tried going longer than a week dosing.
I'm at the lower end of bmi now too, 21, so would they cut off due to that?

Letshavetea1 · 11/08/2025 21:07

@Searingtheserum it would be worth you contacting Oushk. They do maintenance plans. I’ll be using it myself soon!

TheRealGoose · 11/08/2025 21:13

Many pharmacies offer maintenance now, I got to ten mg, stayed there for several months, hit goal, did an extra month on ten, increased my cals, a hundred a week, then did a month on 7.5 and now on 5, which is fine so far, 2 weeks in, and will stay on this for maintenance now.

Tinydancer123 · 27/08/2025 21:23

Hi all , at goal and have been on 10mg for 3 months and maintained . I want to reduce doses but struggling with awful side affects on 7.5mg. Have gone to 5mg did anyone still lose or maintain on lower dose ?
