what do people do with the wool packaging the injection boxes come with? I've seen the recycling instructions but was wondering if there were people who took them to reuse them?

We use them to package things we sell. My husband often sells bits and bobs and it's useful for that.

i use it to line the cat litter box. Very deodorising

Use it as a slug barrier around dahlias.

Wrap around dahlia / gladioli tubers for winter storage

Frost protection

Add to compost

Ooh I'll give this a go, doesn't it affect scooping of the waste though with it being soft? I currently use a liner bag and newspaper too and have clumping litter

We used it to line our hanging baskets.

Also left some in the garden and birds were taking it for their nests.

Lazygardener · 09/08/2025 12:19

I put it in the compost bin.

Burnserns · 09/08/2025 20:37

Added it to my wormery. Also, a friend uses it for crafting

Fairyvocals · 09/08/2025 20:47

We compost it.

happygertie · 09/08/2025 21:15

I put it in fat ball hangers in the garden birds take it to line their nests. I also have some to a wildlife charity, I think they used to insulate some outdoor cat boxes

Thanks for this thread - it didn’t occur to me I could do any of these things! I will be composting my wool from now on.

If it's puffin brand then when you have 6 you can send them back for free

Does it really work as a slug barrier? I was thinking of putting it round my hosta.

I love the wool packaging. So many garden uses - slug barrier, under seed trays to retain water, in pots as a water retainer, just compost it... I am sure there are more but they are so handy.
