Mounjaro Slow Losers - let's chat!

I am nearing the end of week 12 on Mounjaro and reflecting on my weight loss so far. I've lost 16lb since my first jab, an average of 5lb per month. I have another 31lb to reach my first goal weight target. On Wednesday I move from 5mg to 7.5mg.

I find it really hard seeing on social media and discussion threads about people losing much faster than I am. I know there are benefits to losing slowly such as avoiding too much loose skin but I do feel disheartened I'm not losing as much as other people. I question if I'm doing it right or if I should be eating less - that's a no as I have quite strong appetite suppression and some days I'm absolutely not eating enough. I dread weighing in before I take my jab as I hate seeing the scales barely moving. I was hoping I'd drop a dress size by the end of month 3 but it's not happened yet!

It would be nice to hear from others who feel the same and are losing slowly too! This is a safe space to rant and vent frustration. 🙃

I've lost an average of 5.8lb a month since December but don't think of it as slow, more consistent. It's come off nicely and I'm down from a bmi of about 35 to a healthy bmi in less than a year, without mj I'd still be putting on weight. Instead I'm comfortable in a size 10 dress today.

I know it's hard but try not to compare yourself. It's not a race and relearning how to talk about my weight has been as transformative as the weight loss. I now thank my body for what it does for me and hanging in there despite the extra weight. I buy myself nice makeup and clothes and use lovely scented body moisturiser every day.

You'll get there and even if it takes a bit longer than you expected, that's ok. Congratulations on your fantastic losses so far.

I’m on week 13 and have lost 22lbs but after the first big loss have been averaging 1lb per week. I’m a little disappointed and baffled as my calorie deficit should have me closer to 2lbs. I’m due to have my thyroid checked but I doubt it’s that, probably just some peri menopausal nonsense. But on a positive note, it’s been pretty easy. Food noise is much quieter and side effects have been pretty minimal although I’m going to stick at 7.5mg now as I’m having some nausea at this dose.

@SeasonalDependency I started Mounjaro on 2 January and my average loss has been 1.25 per week. I’ve now lost 2 stone 9lb and it’s made a huge difference. I’ve got 12lb still to go. I eat 2/3 healthy meals a day even though I could easily go without and lose weight faster, as I want to change my habits in the long term. In another few months you will see a difference and be much healthier. It’s a marathon not a sprint!

You are losing faster than me! I've lost 46lbs in 49 weeks. I had a huge plateau for ages but persevered and now have 9lbs to my target. Although financially it would have been great to lose it quickly, I don't have any particularly loose skin (am in my 50s so not very taut anyway) and I'm just grateful to have lost as much as I have, relatively painlessly.

BigOldBlobsy · 27/07/2025 22:14

It’s taken me a year to lose just under 2 stone so what’s that, like half a pound a week, so slow. But I’m hoping it stays off this time. One more stone to go, but I’m hoping it’ll be less slow this time!

BrunchBarBandit · 27/07/2025 22:21

I’m a year on it and on my 4th month on 15mg. I’ve lost 35lb. Not even 1lb/week more like 3lb a month.

I’ve still got another 30lb to lose.

I realised early on that I am in this for the long haul. I don’t worry that some other people lose faster. It’s the first time in 5 years where I haven’t been putting in weight at that rate so I’m quite happy.

Also, not much hair loss, very few side effects and no baggy skin. And it’s not been noticed.

Well done @Eastendboysandwestendgirls that's a lot of weight lost!

I'm a fairly slow loser, started towards the end of Jan, had 22 injections as I missed three weeks from memory, illness and not wanting to take a new pen on holiday.

36.5lbs lost with 32lbs max to go, not sure how I'll feel when I've lost another 20lbs, I might call it a day.

I had a 2 month plateau which was boring. My food intake is good, circa 900-1000 cals most days, also peri and other medical stuff going on.

Pre MJ I did not lose an ounce on no more than 1200 cals a day for three years so this is huge progress.

This isn’t slow! It’s a healthy rate of loss and you’re going to drive yourself crazy if you keep comparing yourself to silly stories on social media.

Keep doing what you’re doing and be patient!

Hi all! I am 9 weeks in, lost 12lbs so far. If I'm honest I'm not too bothered that it is coming off slowly. I haven't told a single person in real life that I am on WLI so it helps that it's not been a sudden change. I've also if being completely honest still eaten anytime I feel hungry. A lot less food intake than before jabs, but if I was really trying my best I could certainly do better. But I like that I am not constantly feeling like I am missing out on something.

I've lost all interest in chocolate/sweets snacks which is the best thing ever.

I do constantly feel a bit sicky though, which is getting annoying. And I'm always unwell about 40 hours after doing the jab, with V&D badly for a few hours, especially when I've gone up a dose.

I didn't really loose much at all on the 2.5mg pen, even when not eating much and being sick. But started loosing on the 5mg, so I think it might just be a case of getting the dose right. I'm on 5mg at the moment but I think there's just one dose left, and I have a 7.5mg pen ready in the fridge.
