Medex now refusing to continue maintenance

Been using since beginning of year and now maintaining. No issues apart from this month when they are demanding I go to GP to be weighed and provide proof. Can’t get GP appt for non emergency for over 3 weeks!

Has anyone had this happen to them? Should I just change supplier?

YWBU to waste a doctors appointment going to get weighed. Change provider but at the same time I think places are cracking down on the use of maintenance doses.

They probably don't need to after all their free advertising on here 🙄

Oushk want your weight and height in a video call, that's fair enough I think.

I've heard Pharmulous support maintenance too.

Just switch, Lotus offer maintenance for BMI over 20 as long as you can show a prescription within last 6 months. MedEx have rinsed MN, every single time I log on I am hit with loads of spam from them on here.

How do you switch providers? How do I show prescriptions, I have only only ordered via medex online, would I just show the email?

@Newyearnewmewoooop each medication box that the pens came in will have had a prescription sticker on them. That shows your full name, the medication, the dosage and the date. So if you kept those, that would work. Otherwise, they might accept an email or screenshot of an order on an online account as long as it showed the same information.

Newyearnewmewoooop · 26/07/2025 12:09

Ah right, I have my most recent box so can use that then, I threw my others away 🫣

That's all you need, it's really easy to switch these days.

Have a look at the maintenance info on monj.co.uk. There are plenty of pharmacies supporting long term maintenance and most offer a better service than medexpress. I have read very good reports on WePrescribe recently. I’m with Pharmulous for maintenance and very happy with them.

As @SilenceInside inside says, use the label or a copy of an order email etc. May be worth phoning a few to ask what they’d accept if you don’t have your prescription label!

PurpleCoo · 26/07/2025 14:37

Change supplier. I'm surprised people don't do this more. I switch every month to get the best deal. I paid between £75- £108 for 5mg pens (I had 4 of them, in fairness one was half price as compensation for a pen being delivered not cold, so I stuck with the same supplier for 2 pens), and just gone up to 7.5 and paid about £115.

I am not maintenance, but my BMI is now about 28.5, so I wouldn't qualify if I was starting anew. All the pharmacies I used are happy to prescribe with a photo of my current prescription, and sending pictures of myself holding some kind of info that shows the photo is current (e.g. date, or order number). Photo of feet on scales as well.

Can anyone advise any other places? Lotus don’t show when I google

If you look on monj.co.uk there is a section for providers that do maintenance, you might get some ideas from there. There should also be a link to Lotus website

@Newyearnewmewoooop Ichose to use Cloud because they offer long term maintenance but when they had a supply issue with my dose I also found SwiftDoctor very helpful.
