Anyone else not struggle to eat?

I find it amazing that there are so many people out there who struggle to eat on Mounjaro. I never really have. Don’t get me wrong, I’d rather have Mounjaro in my life than not! It has been a positive step for me and definitely reduces some of the cravings and food noise in my head.
However I’m on 10mg and am confident that I could comfortably manage a 3 course meal. I have never struggled to eat on my Mounjaro journey, which is why much of my success comes down to willpower and making good choices. That’s down to me as I can’t rely on the Mounjaro alone, whereas if I felt full much of the time then it might be easier.
What’s your appetite suppression like?
I’m starting 12.5 next week so am curious to see how that pans out!

In the early weeks I struggled, now I'm totally fine eating normally and sometimes indulgently. I just can't overeat. I absolutely know when I'm full.

I definitely don't struggle to eat at all 😆

I feel hungry. Mounjaro reduces cravings and I don't think about food anywhere near as much which is an incredible feeling and the main thing I get from it. I rarely want to eat anything greasy or sugary. But I definitely still feel hungry and have to use a fair bit of willpower at times. I think that's a good thing in the long run. But I'm not under any illusions that hunger and cravings and compulsions are all different things and i don't know how I'll fare after Mounjaro at all.

Been on Mounjaro over a year on 3.75mg and I haven't struggled to eat a reasonable sized meal since the first pen or two.

I would probably feel uncomfortable if I ate a very large meal, but I haven't really put it to the test, I stop when I lose interest in a meal. I don't feel full as such, I could keep eating but if I have eaten enough for sustain me and I am no longer actively enjoying it, no reason to.

I didn't enjoy struggling to eat in the early days, so have purposely stuck to a lower dose.

I don't struggle to eat and still feel hungry - I've taken my lunch break now and not slightly later as I didn't think I could last out any longer!

BUT I feel full more quickly. I only eat about half what I used to in the evenings. Once I'm full I don't want to eat any more.

I still struggle to eat a decent size meal, I’m on 10mg and have been on it for 6 months. If I plate myself a small/ average sized meal I usually always struggle to finish it unless I’m getting close to jab day. My suppression has been really pretty strong.

I definitely do feel hunger still though and get very hungry, I just get full very quickly. I have just made a ham sandwich for lunch and I’ve managed just over half. It’s definitely a case of little and often for me to make sure I’m still eating enough and getting the protein in.

I think that you will be at an advantage though if/ when you decide to come off mounjaro because a lot of your experience has been down to your own willpower whereas I think I may struggle once the suppression goes.

Thanks everyone. I’ve really related to you all, especially @usedtobeaylis

I have never struggled to eat either. Still have an appetite, I get hungry often, still eat bigger portions, still get cravings, can eat past fullness etc.

Appetite supression is not something I've really experienced. I've had to use a lot of will power. While the mounjaro definitely makes it easier to do that it hasn't been a magic fix for me like it appears to be for some people. I have to put in the work with calorie counting and tracking and staying active.

PoisonIvy89 · 23/07/2025 19:41

I'm on wk12 and have no trouble eating a full meal. I think I could easily overeat if I wanted to but I don't want to, I have no desire to snack between meals and no food noise demanding late night junk food in front of the tv.

InfoSecInTheCity · 23/07/2025 19:49

I can eat as much as I want to, but I ‘want’ less. I find it easier to say no and to recognise when I’ve eaten enough and make the decision to stop. I also find now that I don’t dwell on saying no. Before if I turned down something like a slice of cake then that would be all I could think about, I’d be starving hungry and desperate for food that would only stop when I relented and got some cake. Now if I feel hungry I can look at the clock, think that it’s only an hour to dinner and put it out of my mind, rather than sitting rumbling with my mouth watering until I ended up grazing from the fridge right up till dinner time,

Janie934 · 23/07/2025 23:25

For me its more that I dont feel hungry or have cravings, so I can eat less and still feel satiated...but I still have to remember not to eat my old portion sizes.

I also actively enjoy and get excited by healthier foods (eg picking an m&s superfood nut/grain salad rather than pesto pasta or fruit and yogurt for breakfast in preference to cereal)

But I dont get the same feeling of fullness that others report. So physically I can eat more and choose not to.

Im on 15mg and 1 year in ive lost nearly 6.5 stone so its definitely working!

Madickenxx · 24/07/2025 08:18

I have been on MJ since October last year and have never had problem eating or feeling like I can’t eat. I don’t get full after 2 bites either. It works for me as I don’t feel hunger or like I have low blood sugar so I can make sensible decisions rather than acting on cravings. I’m on 12.5mg now and going up has made no difference in how I feel and I’ve simply gone up a dose when I’ve plateaued for a few weeks in a row.

Personally I’m happy with how it’s working for me as it means I can still enjoy meals out with family and friends without being uncomfortable. Food is a big part of my social life.

I’m losing 1lb a week on average which is slow but steady. No negative side effects either so I count myself lucky!

Redlightbulb · 24/07/2025 19:50

Been on MJ for nearly a year & I rarely struggle to eat but I do now feel full much quicker which I love as my stomach was a bottomless pit before.
I have only really struggled when eating out within a few days after injecting.
A few times I have thought to myself I just can’t finish this meal!
An unexpected side effect is that it makes me eat so much slower.
I used to shovel food down.

Nellodee · 24/07/2025 22:09

I feel like I could eat more, but I don’t. When I wasn’t on mounjaro, I did.
