The last 7lbs….

Hello all!
I hope you’re all doing well 💕 I’m after some advice if anyone has any to offer…?
I started MJ in February and have lost 3 and a bit stone since then on MJ. I am 5’5” and currently weigh 9st 13lbs. I’m on 7.5 dose as I’ve found this effective so far with no side effects. I’m apprehensive about asking for a dose increase, but maybe I need to?
My weight loss has slowed over the past month (-3lbs) and seems to have reached a dreaded plateau (static for 2 weeks) with 7lbs to go before I reach my target. I wondered if anyone has any tips or advice on how to shift this last bit of weight? I’ve been prioritising protein, make sure I’m well hydrated and am active. Not sure what else to do?
Thank you.

Well done on your loss!

The last few pounds are probably the most frustrating of all of them. It’s like you can see the end but you just can’t get there!

I will say that end point is actually only the beginning of something else which is equally as bloody hard as losing weight but that’s not what you’re asking😂

why are you apprehensive about going up? I was similar with about 6lbs to go and bopping up a bit and down a bit with the overall trend being down but sooooo slowly I was getting frustrated. I was on 10mg, had been for months.

So I went up to 12.5.

Managed two weeks but hated it as the suppression was so high I really just lost interest in food and had no appetite which has never been my goal. It did help lose that last little bit and I went back down to 10 and continued to lose so I am now under my goal.

Sorry, that’s a bit of a ramble but if you’re not losing, I think I’d be tempted to go up and knock those last few pounds on the head before you head into whatever maintenance phase you have planned.

I had a very similar situation.
Started in November, over 3 1/2 stone down.
I had been on 10mg for a few months, I wasn't hungrier but suddenly the food noise returned and weight loss slowed right down...... with only 8lb to go. Fortunately I have a weight loss doctor that I get my medication from so I chatted to him and he said that this was very normal, and going up a dose was the answer. He was quite right.
I always have a few days feeling a bit nauseous when I move up a dose, but it was worth it. I have continued to lose 1-2lb a week & the food noise shut up.
only a few pounds to go now.....

I think it’s normal. I’m sticking with 5mg and just embracing the slowness - it’s helping me understand the what I need to do for long term maintenance. Plus I figure I’m more likely to keep it off with a slow loss.

I'm the same height as you and I got from 15st to 10st without needing to count calories, but for the last 7lb I did have to start doing that. Like you, I had several weeks of wavering around 10st and nothing really happening, and I thought I was going to have to give up on my goal. But calorie counting did the trick and now I'm 9st and trying to maintain. I'm not eating different foods, and I haven't increased my MJ dose, just being a bit more mindful of quantities.

I’m the same height and 9st 7lb wanting to lose another 7lb. I’ve got one more week of 7.5 then I’m going down to 5 and then 2.5. I wouldn’t be considering going up at this stage, it slows because obv you weigh a lot less (I started in Jan at 14st 5lb) - just keep at it! You’ll get there

Thank you for your replies!
Brilliant to see your impressive losses too!
I’ve been apprehensive about upping the dose due to the nausea, but after reading about your similar experiences I think I’m going to try tracking calories for 2 or 3 weeks, see how it goes and then up the dose if I’m not seeing the scales move. As you mentioned, it’ll be a good set up for maintenance mode and get some more insight into what I actually need. The focus for the first few stones for me was mainly what I was eating, so will hone in on quantity a bit more now.
Thanks again :)
Have a lovely day all!

I’m in the same boat, I have another 7lbs to lose and have got stuck. I bought the 7.5mg pen for the last two months but more because the price was going up and so I was trying to make them last longer by giving myself a 5mg dose from a 7.5mg pen (40 clicks not 60), but weight loss stopped so I’ve gone up to 45 clicks, no change. I’m torn between not wanting to increase my dose as a bigger change to adjust to when maintaining/coming off completely and not wanting to waste my money by not losing.

Should I go up to using a full dose hoping to stop the plateau (and the pens lasting less weeks) or keep on a lower dose and risk needing more months on Mounjaro. The cost has become a real issue for me since the price hike.
