Do symptoms improve over the weeks??!

So far had two injections of Mounjaro. Take it on a Monday night and start sulphur burps on the Wednesday followed by a sleepless horrible night of stomach cramps. diarrhoea, feeling hot and shaky and bloating. Second week was worse than the first. I’m worried about taking the third dose. After that Thursday night symptoms disappear to barely anything. Do the symptoms alleviate with each dose. How can I prepare for them? Should I continue and if I do am I better staying on the introductory dose? TIA

What are you eating and drinking?

Titianshe · 20/07/2025 20:56

@DarkForces Greek yoghurt berries and nuts for breakfast, salad plus protein/soup and brown bread, beans on toast etc for lunch and meat/fish and veg for dinner, nuts, fruit, porridge as a snack. Same as I always do but with fatty and sugary snacks much reduced

That sounds like a good mix. I'm short so only eat 2 meals a day to lose weight. Are you drinking enough water? What calories are you aiming for vs what you're eating? You could try reducing the amount but it depends on your calorie needs.
Have you considered a half dose?

Following as I'm considering starting Mounjaro .

Titianshe · 20/07/2025 22:08

Thanks @DarkForces I’m not calorie counting but might try eating less for the first 3 days to see if that makes a difference

I'd really recommend calculating your calorie needs using an online calculator then what you need to lose weight and tracking for a while. It really surprised me how little I could eat when I needed to lose weight and as mj slows digestion it might be why you're feeling so bad. It's no wonder I couldn't do it without mj! If you're about on track then chat to your prescriber about reducing your dose. Good luck!

I haven’t counted calories at all, just eaten “clean” along the lines of what you’re describing. Iv e been lucky and haven’t had any SE and have lost loads of weight easily. I think eating less might make things worse. Perhaps have smaller meals more often? I think you need to keep small amounts of food in your system, if possible from what Ive read. A lot of people’s systems get used to it. Some people seem to suffer more than others. It can be influenced by what you eat, but some people are just unlucky. What’s your supplying pharmacy like? Do they have anyone that you could contact for advice?

Carbs can affect some people on MJ, try without the bread on a day and see if it helps. The rest seems fine.
