Munjaro and long covid

Wishes24 · 17/07/2025 21:40

I've had long covid for 3 years, symptoms were slowly improving.I have however noticed a marked worsening in LC symptoms with Munjaro. In particular the fatigue and POTS symptoms which can be crippling in the initial few days after the dose.I am literally too tired to do anything and dizzy at times. Exercise tolerance has become much worse overall affecting QOL.I have lost around 15kg since starting munjaro in autumn last year so weight loss pace has also been comparitively slow. I have been eating ok but need to remind myself to hydrate.I am thinking of stopping MJ for a bit to see if LC symptoms improve and restarting at very small dose later.BMI at 36 now, so still a long way to go in terms of weight loss. Anybody else with LC and similar response to MJ? How did you manage it?

I'm sorry you're struggling, long covid is horrible. I have the opposite, I've noticed a big improvement in my long covid symptoms since starting mounjaro

@PoisonIvy89 I've read that it has really helped with LC symptoms for some others too.So pleased for you. It's a truly horrid condition.

I've definitely had the fatigue from the start, and no enthusiasm to do anything. I mentioned it to a nurse today and she said it's most likely low calories but I read it disrupted the dopamine pathway and I started taking L tyrosine 6 weeks ago, which converts to dopamine, and now I'm always full of energy and no longer procrastinating and always moving.

@Histoscientist how interesting! Do you also have long covid or was it fatigue directly linked to Munjaro?

I have halved my dose from today, lets see if that helps in the first instance instead of completely stopping it

I had really bad covid, ive had it 4 times and the first time in March 2020 before masks and vaccinations and being a healthcare worker surrounded by it, I couldn't taste or smell at all for 20 days, had to have 3 weeks off work and it took me 3 months to fully recover as I was very ill with oxygen levels dropping below safe levels, lungs affected for months struggled to even sing along to radio due to poor lung capacity, had a secondary sinus infection after covid needing antibiotics.
I definitely had fatigue and other symptoms for years, even in 2022 I suffered 6 respiratory infections in 7 months and was in hospital overnight for one due to high BP and exhaustion and being very ill, they suspected a brain haemorrhage but turned out to be a bad viral infection few days later.
The GP did suggest long covid but who knows if it was, it's just a collection of symptoms with no specific test for it and I've always been anaemic for decades and didn't eat meat for 5 years from 2019, so it could have all affected me. I was also prediabetic for years and didn't realise it, blood test in 2022 proved it so it could have been that affecting my immune system.
I do know that that extra dopamine has transformed me. I've been painting my kitchen last few days and sorting out my garden on my week off work and its my period, I used to just lay about due to exhaustion especially on my period, so this is a transformation. Do you take vitamins in case you are deficient in anything?

@Histoscientist OMG I am so sorry to learn about your experiences with covid and overall health journey. It's all so complex, no? I am a health worker too.I am on a lot of supplements for LC and have regular blood tests to make sure that any deficiencies can be corrected are. I can actually visualise you buzzing around painting your kitchen with Magic radio on in the background! What dose and brand of L Tyrosine are you taking? I might give it a try.

Are you psychic?? I had magic chilled on in the background, no lie!
I'm on 500mg, I just take 1 a day, though haven't taken any for 3 days and still feel good and I got it from amazon multivita brand but it was out of stock last time I looked. There are plenty on there. Please read up on L tyrosine and customer reviews to research for yourself, I found them very positive to read.
My GP didn't even tell me I was prediabetic, I found out 2 months ago after changing GP, had tests in June 22, was also very anaemic and wasn't told. I went earlier in the year and told them I would get dizzy often and hands shaking and felt exhausted and they told me to take iron tablets, didn't even offer any tests. I'm glad you received some help.

Thanks @Histoscientist ,I will look it up.I am seeing a physician for Long Covid. My GP is supportive but it's understandably too complex for primary care.
