Sent the wrong dose - pharmacy2U

Help! I have successfully been using mounjaro since January and have lost 4 stone. My target weight was 10 stone (from 14st 3lb). This last 3lb have been a bit trickier to shift so thought I should increase from 10mg to 12.5mg.

After the online consultation with Pharmacy2U I decided that actually I’m pretty happy with where I am (BMI 23) and don’t need to increase so agreed on the online chat that I’d stick to 10mg.

So I was surprised that the post arrived a few days later with a 12.5mg pen. I had 10 days before I was due to jab so just gave them a call to clear it up but since then I have had NOTHING back from them. I have followed up daily (going through the call handling system, waiting 30+ minutes etc) only to be told they are awaiting clinical review. Yesterday I was told to just take it “it’ll be fine”. I don’t want to take it! It makes a mockery of the consultation. What’s the point? I have had to buy a 10mg pen from a new supplier now just to make sure I have a dose on my due date and Pharmacy2U have totally abandoned me.

my post is a cautionary tale to anyone thinking of ordering through them and also to ask if abyone has any advice on what to do next - ideally I’d like them to replace it with a 10mg pen which is what the consultation advised but a refund would be fine too.

You could just have taken 10mg from the 12.5mg pen by counting clicks? Rather than buy a new pen.

Not that it excuses the confusion from Pharmacy2U, and sending you the wrong dose which is a pretty basic error for a pharmacy.

When you did the online order was it for a 12.5mg pen or for a 10mg pen? Was the online consultation just filling out their web form, or a video call or some kind of online live chat?

I’d follow their complaints process as laid out here

https://www.pharmacy2u.co.uk/help-and-support/articles/all-about-pharmacy2u/pharmacy2u-complaints-process/64ae8f1640b7d977047d5815

I’d also just change pharmacies and not deal with any further other than to progress the complaint.

I would just take 10mg from the 12.5mg pen.
What mg pen did you order and pay for after the consultation?

Theresalotgoingon · 16/07/2025 20:00

Sorry I ordered 12.5mg but after the online consultation (new supplier) I agreed that 10mg was better (they wanted to reduce to 7.5mg).

how do I take 10mg from a 12.5mg dose?

I came on to say same as previous poster - just take 10? 10/12.5 x 60clicks so it’s 48clicks.

perimenopoppet · 16/07/2025 20:11

It’s better value anyway. Personal decision how much you would be willing to risk a 6th dose but you can safely take 5 doses of 48clicks of 10mg within the 30 days without any extra needles (and with a syringe and 5 days over you could get a 6th dose)

Sorry to jump onto your thread, @Theresalotgoingon but may I add my story?

I brought my first pen through Lloyds pharmacy.
No problems, so ordered my second pen the same way.

It arrived with no needles.

I contacted Lloyds who said their stuff is now dispensed by Pharmacy2U.
That was last Wednesday.
It took until Monday for Pharmacy2U to contact me, when they emailed to say they were investigating and were sending me out replacement needles.
Today is jab day, and they're still not here.

I'm beyond furious

You can report them to the GPhC for prescribing wrong dose and also telling you to just take it instead of replacing with correct dose.

Andrasa · 16/07/2025 21:51

i had a pen from them once with someone else’s name on the prescription label! Same dose I’d ordered but lax control clearly.

I’ve been using them since I started but not very impressed with their support. I emailed them asking whether they offered maintenance and at what BMI they stopped prescribing. Got an automated response and since then nothing. Will definitely be moving to a different supplier once my BMI gets to about 28.
