Unexpected positives from taking MJ

• I am writing more songs

• I am not waking up every morning pissed off at myself for being fat. So refreshing!

• I am resting more - sitting on the sofa with my children rather than scavenging the fridge mindlessly chucking stuff in my mouth in an effort to get some energy

• I am on MN and instragram less - I feel far less need to numb my mind

• I can think more clearly in general - I can literally form sentences better than I could beforehand

• my face and hands and slimmer and my body aches less (not at all)

• I’ve lost an inch or so off my waist and hips (will have to take newer measurements). Maybe that’s not unexpected though.

• I feel satisfied with myself for sticking to something and loving myself (🤢)

• I am brimming with ideas and projects and feel like the old me after having a cotton wool filled head for a few years!

I’m at the end of week 3, have only lost 4.3lb which is less than some people lose in week 1. But lots of other benefits it seems!

Please add your own ❤️

That's a great list.

I have stopped biting my nails after a lifetime of it (I'm in my early 50s!)

My thighs have stopped rubbing together
and my knee joints aren’t painful anymore. Feel fantastic.

Markoj · 16/07/2025 16:44

That feeling of mental clarity and just being able to like yourself again a wee bit… it’s huge.

blacklabradorsandchilledrose · 16/07/2025 16:46

My hormonal acne has cleared up

HansHolbein · 16/07/2025 16:47

PCOS symptoms have all but disappeared!

housemaus · 16/07/2025 16:54

My DH's chronic nerve/joint pain in his hip has disappeared. He stopped MJ for a couple of months due to saving for something else, it returned. When he started again, the pain disappeared within a week or so. So weird, and interesting!

Drinking much less

Always had high cholesterol (10 pre treatment), reduced to 5.5 on Statins and harsh dietary measures, now today reduced to 3.5 on Mounjaro (NHS aim is to be under 5).
I’m over the moon.

Bone, joint, arthritis pains for nearly 40 years needing ibuprofen meds daily - totally pain free within 5 days of starting Mounjaro (no weight loss at that stage, simply the effect of the medication)

Increased activity tolerance, now able to do back-to-back exercise classes and on continuous days without a rest day

So many other health benefits (sailing a catamarran, solo, at age 69 and a half 🤣)
I’ve honestly reclaimed my life.

Loving all these tales! MJ definitely does something to your brain/inflammation more than just helping you eat less!

Sailing a catamaran solo at 69 is definitely a win! Inspired!

My periods are lighter - massive relief because I’ve been having crazy peri menopause bleeds.

Radiatorvalves · 16/07/2025 21:51

Had a sore shoulder for months… it seems better. It’s probably just one of those things, but losing 7kg might be a factor.

Radioundermypillow · 16/07/2025 21:51

These are fab! I hope Wegovy has some unexpected benefits also!

Comedycook · 16/07/2025 22:06

Not on mounjaro...I'm on wegovy. My skin seems clearer since I started it...less breakouts. But mentally, I'm happier not to be in a constant battle in my head with myself over food...

TheChosenTwo · 16/07/2025 22:11

No chub rub is a game changer. Didn’t even realise this had happened until we had some warmer weather a few months back and I wore a dress and got home from a walk to the pub with dd and she was complaining about having it!
Also has seemed to have reversed some of my PCOS symptoms and for the first time in my entire adult life I’ve got pretty regular periods. I’m bloody 40!

Whizzgosh · 16/07/2025 22:24

People keep telling me that I look younger, dropped ds off at work yesterday and apparently his colleague said I looked too young to be his mum. As I have spent years justifying being fat by saying that I am at the age where I have to choose between my arse and my face it’s good to hear my face is aging down as my arse gets smaller!

Helpmechooseausername · 16/07/2025 22:38

These are amazing! I'm hoping to start soon.

I'm curious about the pcos symptoms - did that include being hairy? I'm on Metformin at the moment and I'm definitely less hairy on my face than I was before - but I think if I start MJ I will have to stop Metformin and I'm scared of getting a beard!! Thanks

Well done on the reduction in cholesterol. I was drawn to respond to your message as my Cholesterol was 9.4 and I have never met anyone else with a similar level, and like you mine has gone down to 3.9 on Mounjaro and statins, when previously on just statins it went to 7. I never want to come of these injections for that reason and also because my HbA1c has gone from 80 to 37 so I am in remission for my diabetes too, the weight loss is just an added bonus :)

Whataboutabout · 16/07/2025 23:41

Just feeling generally happier, joints less painful and face looks prettier. Today I saw people at work that haven’t seen me for a few weeks due to shifts etc and they commented on how slim I look …a real moral booster .
Am still overweight but loosing 8kgs in as many weeks is such an achievement for me !
