Golden dose

Hi all,

I’m taking Mounjaro injections.
I’ve completed four weeks on 2.5mg, four weeks on 5mg and have just been approved for 7.5mg.

I still have the almost (apart from the golden doses) empty 2.5mg and 5mg pens in my fridge.

Could I inject both of the golden doses at the same time?
i.e. 1 x injection of 2.5mg golden dose & 1 x injection of 5mg golden dose.
Would this equal a 7.5 mg dose?
I have already purchased the syringes.
How many mls would I inject?

The 2.5mg is too old to use as the pen has been open for a lot longer than the 30 days expiry, so I wouldn't use that.

You could use what is left in your 5mg pen for the coming week, it is likely more than 0.6ml (the usual amount for a dose) and could be as much as 0.9ml, which would be a 7.5mg dose.

If she’s kept them in the fridge it will be fine. The 30 days kicks in if you dont refrigerate

No, this is a common misunderstanding. The 30 days applies to a used pen, whether stored in the fridge or not. It's worth reading the paper instruction leaflet that comes with the pen to clarify this, if you are not sure.

To be fair if you've only finished taken 4 doses of 5mg then 5mg should be within 30 days and usable. Its usually 21 days for all 4 doses to be used up day 0, 7, 14, 21 so you could definitely use it up on the next normal jab day. The 2.5mg is way past expiry now and you take a risk if you take it. The 5mg will have a little more than one dose so will be a good one to take next.

@GonnaeNoDaeThatJustGonnaeNo once used you need to look at the Used Pens storage instructions and ignore the Unused pens as it is no longer relevant.
