Struggling, going back to 2.5, advice needed!

I started Mounjaro at the end of May, was doing fine on 2.5 and I am 22lbs down since then which I am really happy with ( a big chunk of this was early on and I am averaging about 2lbs loss a week now), but after going up to 5.mg two weeks ago I am really struggling. I only went up because I sort of thought that was what you were 'supposed' to do but really 2.5 was working well. 5 makes me feel sick every single day and I can't even look at food, I am barely eating and starting to worry about it.

I am with medexpress so not sure how it works if I asked to go back down to 2.5, can I do this? and is there a way of only taking 2 half doses of my 5mg (as I have one dose left) as I don't really want to waste any.

You should be able to request to go back down on your next pen. If you’ve a 5mg and want to take 2.5 just count the clicks and turn the pen to 30 clicks (instead of the 60 you would normally do for a full dose) and you’ll be taking 2.5mg. Then you do another 30 clicks next week. 😊

Med express prices for 2.5mg and 5mg are the same so I would continue to order 5mg from them and take 2.5mg.

It will give you the flexibility to move back up to 5mg (or even halfway to 3.75mg) mid month if 2.5mg stops working for you.

It also means you can get 5 doses within 30 days - 0,7,14,21,28 - and without messing about with syringes. If you bin after 30 days/5 doses you will be binning a lot of liquid, but it never cost you anymore so it is not a waste!

Just be careful what you are doing. Know the number of clicks you are doing, check and double check each week before injecting. It is very easy to absentmindedly turn to 1 and do the whole dose without thinking. Keep a note of how many doses you have actually taken so you don't go/go to far beyond 30 days. Watch the plunger moving - it will move MUCH less and take 4 doses to reach the 2 dose line (picture). If you are unsure ask on here BEFORE injecting, there are lots of poster who can help you out.

No pharmacy will condone this way of using so no point discussing with them. You will need to decide for yourself if you are going to do it.

I'd rather not faff about with half doses after this pen if possible. I am just wondering if they will say something as to why I have gone down instead of up? Are you allowed to stay on 2.5 long term?

Yes
No decent provider should tell you you "have" to move up. Lots of people stay on the doses longer.
Only move up if you plateau.

They won’t care if you go up or down, just pick the 2.5 on your next order. Lots of people go back down if a higher dose isn’t agreeing with them, really won’t be an issue.

I've been on 2.5 for 17 weeks and no interest in going up as it's still working. I will only think about it if I don't lose for several weeks. Pointless you feeling poorly.
