Going back on MJ

I’m wanting to go back on the old MJ after 4 months off as I’ve gained more weight than I’d like. I was expecting to gain a bit but it feels like it just going up and I need a bit of a boost. Has anyone done this? Any negatives?

How much did you initially lose and did you just stop cold turkey?

I believe it is best to try and stabilise your weight loss once at target by staying on MJ which is what I’ve done so far and I’ve held my weight for 7 months now but I know it would go back on if I just stopped. It’s never been about that old ‘learning good habits’ thing for me - MJ keeps my blood insulin in check and I know I process foods differently

so give it another go and this time maybe consider staying on it with a view to tapering down slowly?

@FoxyLoxyy I think I'm the same as you,
It's physiological for me. MJ doesn't make me stop eating or give me full suppression or anything but jt does something to my chemistry which means I can control my eating and not let food control me.

Have you managed to taper down at all? I'm not sure if I will be able to much, am still losing currently but close to my goal (which is bmi 27) and hardly losing any more.

@12purplepencils sounds like you’ve done brilliantly so far - the last bit is the hardest!

and not really tbh! I want to taper down and I have weeks where I’m just fine on 5mg but then I feel a lot more peckish so I have to go up to 7.5 for a week or so and then come back down again. It’s quite frustrating

I started in April 2024 at 15 stone and I’ve held between 9 stone 7 and 9 stone 10 since December. Never a fluctuation of more than 3lbs

i don’t diet at all. I just have that food freedom and no guilt when I eat my daily magnum. I try and eat nutritiously but I don’t have to think about ‘falling off the wagon’ as I just eat 3 times a day with one snack

that would be a different ballgame without MJ though

Oh and weirdly, I got to about 9 st 7 ish and that was it! It’s like my body said ‘no more now’ and i can’t get under 9 stone 7! Well I probably could but I’m not comfortable with going back up the doses tbh when my bmi is a perfectly adequate 23.

No I didn’t come off cold turkey. I feel like I’m letting food control me again. I have definitely changed some habits but some bad ones have crept back in.
You also mention blood sugar, if I don’t eat I start to feel faint whereas with MJ never had that!

I’ve seen a few on my tiktok restarting. Good luck if you do.

I think I need to restart. I had to quit cold at 10mg as the price increases came in and at the same time, my supplier (Cloud) ran out of stock. This was also just before my daughter’s wedding, which was my primary reason for taking MJ initially - I started it August 24, and lost just over 3.5 stone in that year, just over 4st total. I wasn’t quite where I wanted to be at the wedding - would have liked to have been around 10lbs lighter and at target, but honestly, I felt absolutely amazing in my dress anyway, so wasn’t too bothered - and I thought I’d retrained my bad eating habits so could manage without, but since I’ve come off it, omgs I cannot stop eating. I’ve put on around 6lbs in 4 weeks. The food noise is back, I’m waking up super hungry every morning and I’m so disappointed in myself for almost immediately going back to snacking on unhealthy stuff. I need to get a grip of it and am resigned to trying to find the money from somewhere to get back on it. This is not how I wanted it to go.
