Does anyone find the weight loss jabs help with alcohol cravings?

Not me, unfortunately.

333FionaG · 12/07/2025 09:12

I’m not on the jabs but a work friend is. She’s a recovering alcoholic and says she no longer even thinks about drinking.

Ladaha · 12/07/2025 09:12

Made no difference to me, but my brother has completely stopped drinking.

MrsMiagi · 12/07/2025 09:12

Yes I am far less bothered but it took about 15 weeks

Cabinfever20 · 12/07/2025 09:13

Yes enormously. I used to love my wine (probably too much) and now I enjoy a glass when we go out but can’t manage more than 2 smallish glasses. I don’t drink at home at all now, whereas we used to have about 3/4 bottles a week. My 2 daughters on Mounjaro and Wegovy have found the same. I love all the empty calories I’m saving.

HansHolbein · 12/07/2025 09:53

I wasn’t a big drinker before MJ, but now it doesn’t interest me at all. Don’t even think about it.

SkibidiSigma · 12/07/2025 12:39

Definitely made it easier not to drink, especially wine. However, unlike some others I'm quite happy and able to have a drink when I want

CatsorDogsrule · 12/07/2025 12:40

I still drink, but less.

Cherubneddy · 12/07/2025 12:41

Yes it’s stopped me craving it, and I don’t enjoy it as much, tastes weird. I used to drink most days too, doesnt occur to me to have a drink now.

RussianDoll76 · 12/07/2025 12:46

I drank a lot and hoped that MJ would reduce my need for it to a ‘normal’ amount . Even better than that I haven’t touched it since I started MJ and I won’t as if I introduce it back into my diet and there are no side effects I may slide back to old habits . Feeling amazing . Even socialising without it , never thought it was possible for me personally. I know it’s only going to slow down my weight loss and I am noticing how alcohol makes me feel the downsides of it and that’s by taking a step back from it. Much needed.

BadgerFace · 12/07/2025 12:53

I think it’s mixed! On the June starters thread I’m on MJ has helped lots of people with reducing alcohol.

I am sadly not one of them! But I have cut out all of the snacking whilst drinking and also have no carb/bad food cravings the morning after drinking which is something.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 12/07/2025 14:10

Yes, almost immediately for me.

HoratioBum · 12/07/2025 14:12

It’s starting to wane now; I’m 21 weeks in and for the first 3 months I still drank a fair bit ( if out, not at home.) I’m on 10mg now and while I still fancy the odd glass here or there, it’s very much reduced. And I would say that I was a BIG drinker before MJ. I reckon I drank a lot of my weight gain calories.

macandcheeseforthewine · 12/07/2025 15:11

Definitely made me want it less, have stopped being able to manage anything more than one glass of wine. And I've not had any alcohol at all for around 3 weeks, possibly 4. Just haven't fancied it at all.

On the other hand, my husband hasn't experienced anything like that, and still wants and drinks alcohol. So two completely different reactions from us.

Eastendboysandwestendgirls · 12/07/2025 15:14

Unfortunately not, though now I can drink and not snack while doing so...

friggingnora · 12/07/2025 15:17

I have lost most of my interest in alcohol but can still enjoy a glass or two of wine if I want. I was drinking out habit before but hardly ever touch booze at home now.

ShrankLastWinter · 12/07/2025 21:25

Yes, huge difference

FoxRedPuppy · 13/07/2025 12:43

I’m able to resist now and can happily leave it after one drink. I don’t drink on my own in week now, only socialising and I’m also happy not to.

RatherTardy · 13/07/2025 13:41

Sadly I'm still drinking.
But like others, not snacking

While I wasn't a big drinker before, my desire to have alcohol has reduced. Really the only times I've drunk since starting MJ have been on occasions where it's there and waiting, if that makes sense. So I had cocktails when on holiday, and I've had a couple of drinks at social events with bars. Occasions where the alcohol was incidental to my attendance. And I haven't wanted to have a drink with a meal at home just because I fancied it, which I used to do maybe once every 2-3 weeks with MJ.

But... I never really wanted alcohol for the effects, which I think might be more difficult to control. It was more that I might fancy the taste in the same way you might think oh I fancy haddock later not pasta.

afaloren · 14/07/2025 12:29

I was a heavy drinker and noticed I wanted it a lot less on 2.5mg, then since I went up to 5mg I’ve completely stopped. It’s amazing. I have no intention of starting again at the moment.
