When do I see a difference?

I’m coming up to the end of week 4 and I’m so pleased that I’ve lost a stone 😊. Was 14.2 and last weigh was 13.2 (height 5’6”). I understand that although it’s a stone it’s still ‘only’ a thin layer off my whole body but I’m still pouting a little that there is no real change to my appearance. Still in my size 18s.

At what point did anyone notice a real change to their appearance?

Obviously it depends on your height and starting weight.
I am tall and started at 15 stone
People started to notice at 12 stone
So for me 3 stone!

ShrankLastWinter · 11/07/2025 23:24

That’s quite a lot as a percentage of you. A stone won’t transform your appearance but you probably do look significantly better. Try looking again with more optimistic eyes and notice where the size 18s now fit more nicely? Or walk up some stairs you haven’t tried for a while and feel how much easier it is?

On me other people suddenly started really noticing once my BMI was down under 30, I think.

It took about 2.5 stone to get me from size 20/18 to 16, and then down to 14 was much faster. I’m not going to be smaller than 14 or a very generous 12 because tall and broad.

TheDogsKnees · 12/07/2025 01:12

2.5 stone for me. That was a size 16/18 to a comfortable 14. It's only this last week people have really noticed. I have another 2 stone to go but will still only get to a size 12! I'm tall though.

JustPinkFinch · 12/07/2025 07:58

(sorry this will be kg)

I went to see my mum after 3 weeks on the drug when I had lost about 4kgs. I didn't feel I looked any different at all. Clothes felt broadly similar on my body.

She opened the door and the first thing she said was 'bloody hell you've lost weight' 😁

So you may not be seeing it, but others will!

Ladaha · 12/07/2025 08:27

Still look exactly the same 2.5 stone down. I'm in the same clothes more or less. Maybe after the next stone for me.

MJalltheway · 12/07/2025 08:31

It took a 2 stone loss for me to go down one dress size. Now lost another stone and gone down another size so it does accelerate. No one has mentioned it to me though, other than those people I've talked to about it - people don't like bringing it up!

Comedycook · 12/07/2025 09:07

Coincidence op because I've also gone from that weight to that weight in a month....I can't tell a difference really. DH commented that I look slimmer though.

A couple of years ago I lost some weight and didn't really look hugely different until I hit the two stone mark.

AgnethaF · 12/07/2025 10:31

I’ve lost just over 2 stone since end of March. Nobody has noticed except my DH.

I still had to buy a size 18 dress a few weeks ago. Was gutted.

However, bought a few size 16s this week that look fine on me. Dug out a pair of lovely linen trousers that I’ve barely worn, as impossible to fasten over my huge tum. They now fit comfortably. My knickers aren’t falling down yet tho 🤣

there is a big difference in my face, jowls and neck. And rings are very loose.

Sw 14.11
Cw 12.8
height 5ft4

Marypoppinsisnosaint · 12/07/2025 12:40

3 and a half stone for me.

Not sure if it's because of the amount or because I'm wearing smaller/summer clothes due to the weather.

I've had loads of people on the school run and at work asking me if I've lost weight. They really do seemed to have noticed this week.

scarediecat · 12/07/2025 15:19

I’ll keep plodding on then!

I'm 5'6 weigh...oh gosh, just realised the same but am in size 14 for most things. I do work out 4 to 6 times a week with weights and my shape is the best it's ever been at this weight.

I've lost 31lbs now

hannahisaspanner · 13/07/2025 09:05

I’ve gone from 19 and a half stone to just under 16 stone. To me the impact was almost immediate - within a couple of weeks the water retention had gone, and eating less sugar and more protein made me feel leaner even without my weight changing much.

It’s been the past few weeks when people at work or on the school run have asked if I’ve lost weight. It’s very noticeable now, but it’s almost like they are brave enough to ask - like waiting til someone has a massive bump before asking if they’re pregnant.

hennybeans · 13/07/2025 10:56

3 stone before I got any comments about losing weight or could even really see a difference myself. Although I am a lot taller and heavier than you, op.

MaryBerrysFannyHammock · 13/07/2025 11:02

I absolutely hate people commenting on my appearance. Especially those who insist on mentioning weight. Not just "you look nice today" or similar.

Many people feel the same, so don't be disheartened about people not commenting.

Besides that 1st is likely to be at least half water. Until more fat drops off you won't notice any difference really. I didn't until I'd lost 2-3 stone and then almost overnight I needed new trousers!

WanderingWisteria · 13/07/2025 11:03

One thing I realised was that, whilst I was in the same size clothes, they were no longer stretched over me but just covered me. They weren’t hanging off me but everything just looked better. It was only at that point that I realised how much I had been squeezing myself into my clothes and kidding myself what size I was

FlamingoLlama · 13/07/2025 11:07

Have you got the MeThreeSixty app? It scans your body shape in tight clothing and gives you a hideous and scary 3D image you can rotate around. You can compare different ones on the same screen and see where the changes are - I don't feel that different but I compare my W1 with now and I can see it.

A stone in a month isn’t plodding!! It took me 2 stone and now when I look in the mirror I can see a huge difference. Still 4 stone to go so I expect the changes will show more as I progress.

FlowersFawb · 13/07/2025 23:16

I've lost 5 stone since Jan started at a size 18 and was probably wearing my 18s until about May...June 14s...now in 12s x

scarediecat · 15/07/2025 12:51

Thanks everyone.

I get so exciting about losing it that I want everything else to be quick!

OP posts:
katand2kits · 15/07/2025 16:58

I've lost 2 stone since January (on MJ since June). I'm in the same size 20 clothes. Difference is they fit better now whereas I was basically kidding myself before that I was still a 20 because I stuck to wearing stretchy items of clothing. I think it will be another stone before I can wear fitted items in size 18.
