To those saying you could just eat less without the Mounjaro, you are right that weight loss ultimately comes down to a calorie deficit, and tracking accurately is important. But I do want to push back on the idea that Mounjaro 'just' helps you eat less.

Mounjaro does also improve insulin sensitivity and reduces inflammation, and impacts how your body processes and stores energy. For lots of us with insulin resistance or metabolic dysfunction, that’s a big deal and makes all the difference. Eating the same calories without Mounjaro may not result in the same outcomes for everyone and it really does depend on your own reasons for being overweight.

Just wanted to acknowledge that Mounjaro changes more than just appetite! It's not a magic fix I agree, and even I get frustrated at the slow losses, but lets not say that Mounjaro is purely for appetite suppression because its soooo much more than that.

Totally agree with this! I’ve got hypothyroidism and PCOS and although the weight loss with Mounjaro is a bit slower for me than a lot of others on this thread I keep reminding myself that the weight IS coming off.

I did 6 weeks of high protein high fibre diet before starting Mounjaro and I lost 2kg; I’m at the end of 8 weeks on Mounjaro and I’ve lost another 7.5kg so for me it was been incredibly effective and I no longer feel like I’m fighting my body in order to lose weight.

Does anyone use clear protein? I’ve got the My Protein vimto one, just tried it and it tastes like vimto and vomit. 🤮

It cost £17 for the tub too!

I’ve got the MyProtein raspberry lemonade one which is quite nice. DH likes the mojito one. I got the variety pack from MyProtein to take on holiday and try out the different flavours so you could always try that to find a flavour you like? I didn’t dislike any of them but it didn’t have the Vimto flavour!

I did the same as @ChiaraMontague and bought the taster pack to try them all. My favourite is definitely the mojito but I also prefer to dilute it with about 2x the water suggested

ChiaraMontague · 07/08/2025 20:26

Oh yes! I forgot to say I dilute it a lot too - I mix it up with the recommended 400ml and then dilute it to 1.5 - 2l to sip on through the day. It’s also much nicer with ice

Morning! Week 10 day 7 which is weigh day and jab night. This week I've lost 2.2.lbs and I've reached my 'micro' goal! My BMI is now 39.9 so I'm under 40 🎉 My first proper goal of pre-baby weight is 5.8lbs away and onederland is 6lbs away, it feels so close I can taste it 😂

SW: 16st (101.7kg)
CW: 14st 9.8 (93.3kg)

Mini goal: 14st 4 (90.7kg)
Bigger goal: 12st 4 (78kg)

Hurrah! Going to stay on 3.75mg as it seems to have kicked in, 3rd dose tonight 💪

HappyWineDay · 08/08/2025 08:32

@flameprincess apologies for the misunderstanding. You are of course correct to say that mj does more than assist with weight loss, there are indeed additional important medical benefits. I was just trying to make the point that mj doesn't make calories disappear, if you eat the same then the result will be the same. Thanks for clarifying 👍

MissMogs · 08/08/2025 08:37

Well done @SomethingAboutYou!

some days I’m glad I weigh every morning as it’s nice to see things going down despite fluctuations. Other days I get excited when I’m near a tipping point and then frustrated when the weight hops up again!
yesterday 95.05. Hoping to go below 95 today! But this morning scales back up to 95.15….
on top of which I am drinking so much water that I had to get up TWICE in the night to pee!

HappyWineDay · 08/08/2025 08:38

Big milestone for me today - 13st 13lb. First time I've been under 14 stone since my son's wedding in the summer of 2019 when I'd been on a tough Fast 800 diet for months (and subsequently put it all back on over 2 years).
Still a way to go, but that's a big step on the way for me. Delighted!

I do! The peach one is lovely and just tastes like Lipton Iced Tea, not too sweet. I've tried the orange and mango which is way too sweet to my liking (a bit like very strong squash). Definitely try the peach one.

SomethingAboutYou · 08/08/2025 10:15

@MissMogs I weigh daily too. It really helps not to lose motivation on my official weigh day when the scales are higher than expected as I know there's been fluctuations throughout the week. I always used to have the sod it attitude when I did slimming world and only weighed in group, if the scales were higher than I expected I'd end up blowing the rest of the week because nothing was working whereas I feel now I have a bit of a better understanding of how normal it is to fluctuate and trust that it will come off eventually.

I think you’ve been under 40 bmi for a while. I weigh more than you (15 stones) and my bmi is just under 35.

It depends on how tall she is? I always used to joke that I wasn’t too fat, I was just under height 😁

Amazing losses! well done @SomethingAboutYou and @HappyWineDay 🎉

I still only managed to hit 1000 calories yesterday so tried a protein shake (after the vimto disaster) and made me feel over full and sick. So need to feed in more calories during the day I think.

Good protein snacks? I already have Greek yogurt for breakfast, and sometimes eggs for lunch (too many eggs make me constipated!).

I might try watering down the vimto vom drink today 😂

HappyWineDay · 08/08/2025 11:44

@FoxRedPuppy "Good protein snacks?"
I often coat a couple of chicken breasts with a piri piri rub or something, roast them, then keep them in the fridge. If I'm peckish, I get one of those out, thinly slice it and snack on that. Far cheaper, and tastier, then the precooked/sliced version you can buy in the supermarket.
I also like a Ryvita with cottage cheese, more like a light lunch than a snack, but high protein low calorie all the same.

RussianDoll76 · 08/08/2025 12:33

Having a meh day !! week 6 day 5

Weighed in at 7am this morning and lost 1/2 lb this wk. Feeling grrrr . From the beginning of the week I have been 2 1/2 lbs lighter than that. I’ve been very slow going . Those numbers really getting to me today. I’m still on 2.5mg and have been doing ok calorie and water wise. No major struggles. Since I’ve weighed I feel hungry I’ve eaten breakfast when I got home because i “ felt hungry “ I can’t normally eat early and it was a lot lot more than I can normally manage in a sitting . I’m now wondering if it’s been a bit of the placebo effect for me so far and now my bodies realised , a little inner panic is forming. I am committed to staying on 2.5mg for as long as I can but cannot just change over night ? . Sorry for the vent just so frustrated. 😩 . Also noticed feeling a bit low this last week and I actually shouted at my ds last night which doesn’t sound bad but I never ever raise my voice I don’t argue with anyone so he isn’t used to it . He looked like I’d kicked him 😢. I feel very angry with myself and everyone . Even had a bit of road rage this morning I’m usually quite chilled. So I’m really not feeling like me. MJ has messed my TOTM up so maybe it’s that . Bloody hormones , a period is now all I need !!!!

Ah yeah of course, wasn’t thinking.

I have greek yogurt with grapes and seeds later on for a snack. I’m a little bit addicted to it!

FoxRedPuppy · 08/08/2025 13:15

I think I need to order Greek yoghurt by the gallon. I get through so much of it!

@RussianDoll76 that extra 2lbs will go in a few days. This is why I with every day. I don’t have a specific weigh day so I don’t worry about the variation.

Now I’m not exactly parent of the year, but I have definitely lost my shit in my time! Mine are now teens, but my key advice is that I’ve always apologised afterwards and explained it wasn’t them, I shouldn’t have shouted and child appropriate explanation (hormones, stress at work, tired etc). Don’t beat tourself up over it.

OP posts:
flameprincess · 08/08/2025 13:37

@RussianDoll76

I’ve actually noticed the same thing with MJ and my period… I get way more emotional than usual, and it’s like everything hits harder. So I totally get what you’re saying about feeling out of sorts.

I guess just remember your body is going through big changes right now, regardless of if the scale reflects it or not. I’ve had those moments too where I didn’t lose what I expected and it really puts me in a shitty mood for the rest of the day. Its why I cant do the daily weighing thing that some people manage.

As for your son I'm sure its nothing a hug and a "sorry Mummy is human" moment wont fix. I've apologised to mine for being short with them over hormonal stuff pre-MJ and just explained its not ok that I took it out on you but its important I say sorry. We've dealt with enough toddler tantrums to earn the odd slip ourselves I reckon!

Sending you love and solidarity!

RussianDoll76 · 08/08/2025 13:44

@FoxRedPuppy, thank you ! It’s so out of character for me. He actually just came and apologised for last night as he could see I was tired . Bless him .
It concerns me because I used to lose my temper so easily with my oldest dd’s who are in there 30’s now but as an older parent I am so calm
( probably because I’m knackered 😂) my dd is 15 and ds is 10. I never raise my voice we just talk stuff out and it works.
As for the weight it’s stupid how I’ve let it affect me today I know it’s up and down I weigh daily . I am surrounded by very quick losers so my losses always seem meagre but I’m looking long term to keeping it off and learning in the process usually that’s enough . Today I think I’m just overwhelmed and definitely hormonal . Fingers crossed tomorrow has a better feel !

RussianDoll76 · 08/08/2025 13:59

@flameprincess
thank you , it’s so strange it’s taken so long to balance myself hormonally after having quite a tough time . I almost didn’t recognise it . It’s good to hear I’m not alone so I appreciate your reply. To begin with MJ made me feel very energetic and hyper so the come down feels even worse I think . As for my gorgeous ds yes you’re right we have just had massive cuddles . He apologised to me 😢 as he could see I was tired. I’ve apologised for raising my voice so we’re good. I’m so blessed they ante wonderful little people , and on that note I’m off for a little cry !! 😂

HappyWineDay · 08/08/2025 14:11

@FoxRedPuppy "I think I need to order Greek yoghurt by the gallon. I get through so much of it!"
We were using loads of the stuff too so we started making our own. We bought a Lakeland yoghurt maker, think they're £25.All you need is long life milk and some Greek yoghurt to get the first batch started. It's delicious.

DownhillAllTheWay · 08/08/2025 14:15

SunandMoor · 07/08/2025 07:21

@DownhillAllTheWay not gaining on holiday is a positive! I bet in a weeks time you lose as well. I think staying on low doses as long as you can, gives you more chance to move up in the future when it will get harder the nearer you get to goal.

Three days later and I’m down a kilo! Seems to have bump started everything again, hurray.

MissMogs · 08/08/2025 14:53

I’ve been eating skyr a lot with fresh fruit. I think it’s lower fat and sugar compared to Greek yoghurt, but still very thick and creamy!

They recommend skyr as one of the best on the nhs prediabetic program.
