Today was interesting! Some colleagues were talking about people who use weight loss meds and wow, it wasn't good.

I couldn't believe the strength of feeling about other people's choices. 3 of them are overweight and apparently constantly dieting, using weight watchers etc. Yet, they were so judgemental.

They were also saying how awful people look in the face and how their hands age etc. I sat there and said nothing I'm afraid.

I think people just enjoy judging regardless.
I was bigger in my 30's and then was size 8 as turned 40, ran 3 times a week ate well etc, people told me I was too thin couldn't be healthy etc.
Piled on weight in peri and 50s and been judged for it.
DH is starting to question me about it now and if its worth it. Went up to 5mg this week and SE have floored me again ( was like this first 2 weeks when started).

Judging others is an awful trait. Walk a mile.... Anyway, you do you. If they notice the loss just tell them you are eating better and exercising. Absolutely nothing to do with anyone but YOU. 😊 Or tell them.... and watch their faces as they remember the conversation. 😉

Hi. I posted once at the beginning but am posting again as I feel like things have stalled, and not just the weight loss.

I’m W9D1. Took 2.5 for 4 weeks. Appetite suppression, food noise gone, no side effects. I moved up to 5mg on week 5 and was bit worried as I was on holiday at the time but apart from a bit of constipation I had no side effects and continued to have appetite suppression. However in weeks 7 and 8 my appetite is back with a vengeance and the food noise has returned. I’m still making really healthy choices but I haven’t lost anything in the last 2 weeks. I feel like it’s stopped working for me.

I saw my endocrinologist before I went away (he prescribed it to me and I’m still under him following thyroidectomy last year) and he gave me a prescription for another 2 months of 5mg as at the time it was working well.

Has anyone else had this where your appetite has really come back and the loss has stalled? I feel hungry all the time now and keep thinking about food. I’m wondering whether to move up to 7.5.

Sorry for the essay!

Hi, congrats so far on your loss. I'd speak to your dr and see what he recommends. I've not experienced this so can't offer any advice. Good luck.x

Hi,

my appetite hasn’t quite come back and I am eating three small meals a day, but I have stalled. I’ve had lots of lovely support here from everyone so I’m going to persevere and hope for a big loss soon! I think it’s quite common for this to happen. A friend of mine lost loads but plateaued quite badly and had to go up to 7.5 then started losing again. I have just taken my second dose of 5mg.

Elsiedarlingputthekettleon · 29/07/2025 21:18

Some great losses folks! 🥰 I decided to stick with Simple as they sent me a £25 voucher code so that made my mind up, altho I was thinking how much a faff it must be to constantly keep moving providers and worrying about getting accepted and them having it in stock. 🙄🤯 Does anyone else move each time or plan on doing? I have one more dose this week of 5mg (the extra bit) then I need to decide if I am staying on 5mg or moving up. I worry the suppression will ease off once I have committed. 🫣

Sad, sad people. You can rest assured that they wish they had a prescription too. Say nothing and stick with what works for you.

Has anyone lost their taste .?

Everything i eat just tastes bland, whatever it is .
Today i added a small two fingered kit kat with my calories , i didnt even enjoy that, seemed far too sweet .
Any other time i would have eaten at least two and now i dont want another again

Eaten allsorts over the last few weeks , salads , dinners , all seems to have no taste .
Feel a bit upset as at least i enjoyed my food and now i dont eat anywhere like i did, i would like to enjoy it , and i dont

Some people do have strong opinions about them. Some people form that negative opinion about them because they can’t afford them so convince themselves it’s a negative thing to take,a sort of, if I can’t take them, no one should. Some haven’t actually done any research themselves and take what is said in the media about already slim “celebs” getting gaunt faces because of the WLI, and other negative comments the media perpetuate.
If the media was positively promoting it as a health benefit, that could save the nhs millions, lots of doubters would change their mind!

Focusispower · 30/07/2025 04:47

Some amazing progress folks! I am on holiday so no weighing in for 2 weeks. It will be 6 weeks tomorrow since I started and I was at 12lb loss when I went away. Not calorie counting or sticking to my usual diet so we will see what happens. One last 2.5mg jab next week and then may order 5mg and do 3.75mg over a longer period.

Had horrendous upset stomach one night and felt really sick, I think because I ate utter crap due to travelling all that day. Otherwise been fine, enjoying a small glass of wine most nights and allowing a few baked goods here and there.

Crinklecat · 30/07/2025 07:13

@Bloozie I definitely get this. At the weekend I couldn’t eat at all in the day, was struggling to drink too. That night I was out, managed alcohol and tapas with no issue at all. Very odd but I suppose shows how much of it is in our minds?

MissMogs · 30/07/2025 07:23

Experiences with IQ doc? Just used them for the first time as it was about £60 cheaper than Pharmacy 2U who I started with. Had to upload pics which was not nice but I get why! Have opted for 7.5 but planning to count clicks to increase slowly. No real SE from 5 except slight constipation which sorts itself out within a day or 2. But I still feel hungry and it’s taking so much willpower to not eat what I want!

Would just like to say that I am awaiting 'Ozempic face' with baited breath because my cheekbones and jawline are lovely but lost to the depths of time... I keep pinching my jowls crossly.

Indeed! I think it'll be a long time before anyone sees my cheekbones or jawline too!

I have to say I haven't experienced that SE. Sorry to hear of your experience. Hopefully it will pass. Then again, if it puts you off Kit-Kats then it's not all bad.
The only time I ever experienced anything like that was a few years ago when I had covid. I even tried a vindaloo and couldn't taste that! (Indian take-aways, those were the days 😂)

magnoliaday · 30/07/2025 10:06

So wk 2 of 7.5 and all going well the constipation has shifted and gone the other way (why is it always at 2am though I want to know 🫣) glad I work from home on days like today maybe should sneak a midweek weigh in after last night 😂

Gingercar · 30/07/2025 11:00

I haven’t really eaten chocolate or sugar for over ten weeks now, and I was a total chocoholic previously. I had two squares of white cooking chocolate yesterday, I’m full of a cold and was having a bad day, and it tasted really sweet.

I’ve been doing the nhs diabetes prevention program and a guy who also goes said he discovered that our taste buds for sweet foods are at the front of the mouth and if he bypasses them he doesn’t miss the sugars in his tea.

Edited

Thats exactly how this is when i had covid.
I most definitely havent got it now and no other SE.
Just depressed i cant enjoy any type of food , just eating to keep my strength up and not enjoying any of it

Gingercar · 30/07/2025 14:45

Drop down a dose then? So you’ve less suppression. I don’t get much suppression and can eat what I want generally- the MJ seems to help my willpower stick to healthy food. But I really enjoy eating still.

Xmasfairy86 · 30/07/2025 15:52

I miss eating, well, wanting to eat should I say. well no actually - I want to eat - but nothing fits the bill of what I want to eat!!!

still got really dry lips

I would recommend palmers cocoa butter lip balm for dry lips. I swear by it. Vaseline won't work, it's acts as a barrier and keeps the dryness in if that makes sense, it's not actually moisturising

Its nothing to do with supression. I have had this a couple of weeks after the first dose of 2.5 .
The supression isnt that bad now . Its the taste problem .
Doesnt matter what i eat , it all tastes bland .

healthjourney · 30/07/2025 16:58

@Catladyof7 it's not something I'm experiencing but it could be your tastes changing if you have reduced consumption of ultra processed or hyper palatable foods? Or it could be you are craving more salts due to lack of electrolytes?

I was just coming on the thread to post this exact thing. I loved food. I loved flavours. I loved looking forward to a meal. I loved choosing what I'd eat.

I'm currently away on holiday. I'm eating one meal a day, and even then because I feel I have to. I've just had my most favourite choice of meal, a cheeseboard, and it brought me no joy. It always used to. 😞

I just ordered from IQ doc on Sunday and my order arrived this afternoon. No hassle at all. Other than the pics but that's to be expected with any provider. I moved cause they were £50+ cheaper than MedExpress too.

T27 · 30/07/2025 18:04

Catladyof7
I know exactly what you’re saying - nothing has any real flavour anymore. It’s hard to enjoy food when it’s pretty much tasteless. I guess it a bit like when you have a cold and lose your sense of taste. Even drinks don’t taste the same x
