Hi, I’ve just started Mounjaro and i’ve been recommended apple cider vinegar chewies and hydration gummies, do most people use these?
any other tips?

I doubt most people take apple cider vinegar chewable vitamins, or hydration ones either - I have never heard of hydration supplements. Who has recommended them, and why?

I just take a decent multivitamin, and flaxseed oil capsules because I'm vegetarian, but I've always taken those. My tip is not to spend money on trending supplements, which don't have much evidence of effectiveness.

Sux2buthen · 09/07/2025 17:24

That’s what I thought. It’s just friends that are using them and anecdotally the ones using the supplements say they help and the ones that aren’t are feeling a bit rough.

Those are two I definitely haven’t heard recommended anywhere! 😂

You don’t need to take anything at all and definitely avoid ‘gummies’ and ‘chewies’ which generally have very few active ingredients at all.

If you feel you need a multivit, that could be a good idea but a good, nourishing diet is the most important thing. That and A LOT of water!

Oooohhh, wonder what I said
that needs ‘a look at’! 😂

SilenceInside · 09/07/2025 17:28

@IReallyNeedThisToWork It's the other word for chewables that starts with "g", it's associated with spam by the automated checks.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 09/07/2025 17:28

@Sux2buthen I haven’t felt rough in the year I’ve been on MJ and haven’t taken any apple cider vinegar or ‘hydration chewies’.

@SilenceInside ahhhh! Thank you😁 Thought I was going mad(der)!!

Sux2buthen · 09/07/2025 17:31

Interesting, thanks all

Apple cider vinegar is touted as helping lowering cholesterol for people with type 2 diabetes, but the evidence for that is not extensive and would need a lot more detailed trials to show it conclusively. If you wanted to try it, drinking it would probably get you more active ingredients than taking a manufactured chewable.

Hydration chewables are I think just electrolytes. Might be useful if you are struggling with gastric side effects, such as D&V to the point where you can't keep water down, but that's a pretty unlikely side effect. If you were unlucky and experienced that as an issue, you can get electrolyte powders like Dioralyte probably a lot cheaper than chewables. And no need to take them every day, if you are otherwise well.

I have only had a couple of periods during the last year on Mounjaro where I have felt rough, in the early days. The rest of the time I have felt absolutely fine.

I was also recommended apple cider vinegar gummies to apparently prevent the sulphur burps. I take them, I've never had sulphur burps or nausea, no idea if it's because of the gummies but they certainly aren't doing me any harm so 🤷‍♀️

By hydration do you mean electrolytes, which again, won't do any harm and you may get some benefit that comes with good hydration.

I take the Aldi mutivit gummies - I did a direct comparison with some of the popular multivitamin tablets on amazon and was surprised at how they outperform them in some categories. Cheap and taste nice.

I also take fibre gummies twice a day. And melatonin gummies at night.

(I despise swallowing pills!)

I drink 3 liters of water a day...vitamims I take a multivitamin, collagen, magnesium, cod liver oil, folic acid.
