New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you're on.

We have kiwis, hammocks, weight loss charts, an unhealthy obsession with Vinted and enough water to sink several ships 😊

No discount codes please - there's a separate thread for those.

Hi all, I haven't post for a while. It's been exactly a year since starting and I am 27.5kg down. Dangerously close to 30! I feel great and people are now starting to comment and notice. It's annoyingly some ways as whilst I'm sure it's well meaning, it does raise personal issues around whether there was something wrong with me prior and that my old.body was somehow not good enough. I'm on 9mg and aim to lift weights at least twice a week but as I am no longer carrying around the equivalent of a small person on my back I'm generally much more active, don't get puffed out and move more as a result. Very few people know I'm on injections, I don't want to add to the stigma I feel although I know I'm perpetuating it in some ways. I pretty much eat what I want, within reason. I don't deny myself anything which might be why my losses are slowing. I plateaued at 85 for quite some time. My starting weight was 109.7 and I am now 82. My aim is to get to 65 and then start reducing my dose and attempting to maintain. Although I haven't been this slim since my early 20s and still classify as overweight. I've gone down about 4 dress sizes, 2 bra band widths. Looking forward to hearing about any other stories x

The only bonus is that chin hair increases as vision decreases. I have to use a light up mirror on the window in full sun, but I find I care less these days.

I was feeling a bit smug & chin hair free at 57, but I have dreadful eyesight, so now I'm thinking I probably have a full beard I can't see 😁

MabelSpan · 11/07/2025 13:47

Oh the joys of getting older, our eyesight goes, so you cant see the whiskers and random wirey hairs, sprouting out all over your face, chin and neck.
Then to add insult to injury, one day in the sunshine you realise that not only have you got whiskers and wirey hairs, they are also turning silver, so harder to see and they positively sparkle in the bloody sunshine!

Evenstar · 11/07/2025 13:59

We had a new en suite before Christmas, I invested in an illuminated magnifying mirror, there is no hiding place for stray whiskers now!

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 11/07/2025 14:19

I had an incredibly satisfying moment the other day when I got a chin hair which had only just broken through and was barely a couple of millimetres long. It was a thick bastard and would have been absolutely enormous so it was particularly pleasing to nip it in the bud!

Darlinghag · 11/07/2025 14:32

As someone with PCOS, chin hair has been a feature since my early 20s!!

its definitely a little easier to pluck with one chin!! I also find my skin is less irritated after a plucking session too!

Emas82 · 11/07/2025 14:56

@Amarajeanthank you.
We talk about health quite candidly. My sister has also put on loads of weight over the last few years, and she's now got high blood pressure. We worry about her having a stroke or a heart attack (my mum had a heart attack in her 40s). I think my daughter understands it all, but at the end of the day she isn't going to make any changes until she's ready.
I know with my own weight, in 2019 I properly knuckles down and lost 6st, but I was 100% ready to put the work in.
Unfortunately I undid all the hard worked and regained most of the weight! Hence why I'm here!

Apprensen · 11/07/2025 23:00

I have been following this thread and finally am on MJ wk1. I have alone 40kg to lose so hopefully fit in with you. It is so inspiring to read your posts.

SW 114.5kg

No one knows apart from my husband. Hoping to start losing soon.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 12/07/2025 08:21

Morning all.
Urghhh frustrated my weight hasn't changed for a 4th week.
I am on my second pen of 7.5 and did have a big drop before the plateux.
I know I have been more nibberly and not drinking as much as I should and work stresses and poor sleep all add to it.
My very later periods (wondering if it will even come now) also a factor as usually I hold weight and then have a whoosh after my period.
Arhghgg but I am annoyed. So want to see the scales start moving again.
I know the answer is not just go up to 10mg & better choices needed by me so I am feeling cross at my self and my stoopid period. So this is Peri? Day 39 (over 7 days late??). I know I always feel better after my period and worried I am going to be stuck feeling like this.

Carolwithane · 12/07/2025 08:46

I'm feeling a bit m'eh today. Roasting hot weather and having lost 3 stone still look horrendous in shorts etc..... 🙄

Need to see if I can find a long dress that is cool and covers my upper arms

Still another 3 or 4 stone to go and will keep going. Just having a moan!

Maybe next summer will be my summer, it'll probably rain 🤦‍♀️😂

InfoSecInTheCity · 12/07/2025 08:57

@Reginaphalangeeeeemy weight is going up and down up and down daily at the minute, I’m certain it’s the heat so just trying to ride it out. Periods are a a complete pain, I’ve noticed a difference in the last year and can’t really decide if it’s the MJ, the weight loss or peri, but I can empathise with how annoying it is. Mine are either really light now, or late, there’s much less regularity.

@Carolwithanemy upper arms are one of my pain point, much thinner now but decidedly flappy, I’m trying to learn to not care. I’ve got my T-shirts on and if my upper arm waves by itself then hopefully no one will notice or at least if they do they’ll keep their thoughts to themselves 😂

Im off to Scarborough tomorrow for a week by the beach, we’ll be heading to Whitby, Yorkshire Wildlife park and if I’m lucky we’ll see some Vikings in York. Hoping to max out my step counts and remember to drink plenty of water but not going to be holding myself to super strict diet.

WeAllHaveWings · 12/07/2025 10:01

Stayed the same this week which is fine after last weeks little whoosh.

End of week - 55 (5 x 2.5mg, 50 x 3.75mg)
SW - 21st 5lbs BMI 44.8
CW - 13st 5lbs BMI 28.0
Losses (2024) - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1,4,0,2,3,3,1,4,0
Losses (2025) - 0,3,2,1,3,1,1,0,2,3,3,-1,3,2,2,1,2,2,1,1,0,3,0,1,2,1,3,0
Total loss - 8st 00lbs (112lbs), 37.5%
Next Target 🎯- 13st

Can't really blame the heat as it's "only" 23 degrees so far where I am! 😂

Dealing with the heat is much better this year with the weight loss, but I'm still not a sun lover. When the temperature starts rising in Scotland I always remember this tweet from a few years back. It nailed it! 🤣

Hope the sun lovers enjoys the sunshine 😎, and the rest of us somehow get some cooling relief! 🥵

Welcome to all the thread new comers!

GiveMeWordGames · 12/07/2025 11:13

Hello you lovely lot. Interim post-mini break jab day for me. I've done 45 clicks of my new 7mg pen and will do the rest on Thursday. Then back to regular Monday full dose jabbing.

Weighed today and despite being fed large breakfasts at the BnB, and the heat, and probably not hydrating enough I've lost a pound since Tuesday. I credit all the going up and down steps and steep hills in Brixham! And a lengthy, hot, hilly walk around a national trust place.

So 2lb in the last two weeks.

NSVs though! Being able to do all that walking, as above, in hot weather, without actually dying/having to stop every 100 yards, or (more likely TBH ) avoiding the steep route and just walking on the "buggy and wheelchair accessible" flat path. And enjoying a lovely tide pool lido without being horribly self conscious in my swimming costume.

@Reginaphalangeeeee the heat is huge factor I reckon. And my late stage peri was definitely when my cycle went truly haywire and all periody symptoms became ten times worse. It was also when I gained the last couple of stone post COVID. I don't envy you battling that while still losing. You're doing so well, really! But I know that on the 4th week of a plateau it's not going to feel like that.

Also I wanted to say I'm so sorry what so many of your went through in childhood how strong everyone on this thread is. Amazing, supportive group of people!

Today's stats. At almost 16 weeks

SW 17st 4
CW 14st 10.75
GW 11-12st.

gimmemounjaro · 12/07/2025 11:40

It’s strange how it comes off - the first three stone I lost took 7 weeks each, then stone no.4 included a plateau and took 9 weeks, and stone no. 5 took 14 weeks. Since then I have lost another 6lbs in 8 weeks, so slower again.

I was expecting things to slow down, that’s all fine, but the weight loss graph hasn’t just flattened a bit, it’s gone very up and down (graph attached, green is me, purple is 1lb per week). It’s quite unnerving! Hard to avoid that sinking feeling of “everything’s going wrong, just like it always does” 😬

I’m

QueenOfHiraeth · 12/07/2025 11:54

@Reginaphalangeeeee Are you measuring yourself? I was advised to by my first provider who had nutritionists, health coaches, trainers, etc onboard. My loss is very slow at the moment, averaging 1/2lb a week, but I am still losing cm. It's great to have both those things as they are often not in tandem.

@InfoSecInTheCity I have just been out to a little local event (think town fair type thing) and wore a sleeveless top. I actually said to my husband before we went out that I need to be less conscious of my arms as stop thinking other people will think anything of my appearance (especially when you see some of the sights we see here at the British seaside!)
One of my friends waved at me from a distance and I even raised my arm and waggled my bingo wing back at her Grin

MabelSpan · 12/07/2025 12:55

@QueenOfHiraeth "raised my arm and waggled my bingo wing back a her" is the funniest thing I have read for ages, I have the image in my mind and cannot stop laughing.
Thank you! (still laughing)😂

Emas82 · 12/07/2025 13:08

@QueenOfHiraeth I love that! I'm wearing a vest top today, I do prefer to cover my flabby arms but I've got a really lovely half sleeve tattoo (think lovely tropical leaves with a mandala shoulder) and I thought today fuck it, I spent a lot of money on that, I'm showing it off!!

QueenOfHiraeth · 12/07/2025 13:44

They may be old-fashioned for you young things but I discovered a couple of tops which are amazing on for me. They are not the kind of cold-shoulder top which just has a weird hole in but they are like an off the shoulder, with a frill or loose sleeve across the upper arm that also has a strap that covers the bra strap if that makes sense.
If you see anything corresponding to that vague description try it!

A kind of Bardot top but with shoulder straps? I've been looking at some of those. I can't do full off-the-shoulder due to boobs but I'm tempted by that version.

QueenOfHiraeth · 12/07/2025 14:17

@GiveMeWordGames Exactly that! One of mine has short sleeves and a straight across neckline like a Bardot top but with straps and two others are a frill like an off the shoulder top but, again, with straps.
I'm loving them!
