Help me hide my pen!

Hi all!
hopefully no judgements here… 😅
Ive been on Mounjaro for a couple of months and it’s been brilliant for me. Haven’t lost weight drastically and has just made all my food choices healthier and constant snacking non existent.
here’s the problem.
I’m going to Tenerife next week for three weeks with my two young DD and my husband and my in laws (and my brother and sister in law too). My in laws have a house there so we go every summer for three or four weeks and whilst it’s lovely my in laws are intense to say the least.
They cannot find out I’m on Mounjaro. Ever. They are so judgemental about weight loss injections, obsessed with body image etc- and at the moment only my husband and best friend knows about the injections - I’m a really private person. Once my in laws find out they’ll tell absolutely everyone they know. They’re fine but judgey and busy bodies.
how the hell do I hide my pen in the fridge?!??
Anyone got any brainwaves?!?!
SOS!

Big tube of some sort of skin cream. Cut off the bottom. Wrap pen in cling film. Put in tube and curl up the bottom. Put in cream box. Get something no one else would use. Remember to take it out every night and “apply” and return to the fridge. Friend did this with tomato purée.

Genius. I would do tomato puree but food is a big no no because they both love cooking and would discover it eventually! Even if very very niche food item haha.

Your pen doesn't need to be kept in the fridge once you've taken the first dose. I would simply buy a pencil case (thin small ish one) and keep it in there, inside my suitcase.

GabGab123 · 05/07/2025 23:46

so Tenerife is obviously hot but indoors AC is usually on/it never gets that hot.
i didn’t realise it wasn’t as important to keep in fridge after first dose! I thought it was a general thing about how effective it is.

Providing there is AC, I would store it inside the suitcase. You'll relax more then and be able to enjoy your holiday.

I am going away next week. I don't need to hide my pen but it needs to spend 3 days on the road before we get there. I will take the first dose out of a new pen the morning we leave and then it doesnt need to be in the fridge after that.

troppibambini6 · 05/07/2025 23:52

You definitely don’t need to keep it in the fridge after the first dose. Mine lives in my knicker drawer.
You only have a set time to use it though, think it’s 28 days which you would do anyway.

TheMeasure · 05/07/2025 23:54

AS others have said, once you've used the pen, it doesn't need to be kept in the fridge. But if you're away for three weeks, you will just have to work out dates so that the first dose of your new pen is just before you go.

I put mine in a glasses case when going to visit MIL, there was enough room for pen, wipe and 1 needle.
That way you can also keep it in your luggage/suitcase and if anyone does find it they must have been snooping through your things to notice it in a closed spectacle case!

perimenopoppet · 06/07/2025 06:46

Agree with everyone else - in the circumstances you’ve outlined - don’t keep it in fridge. I got an insulin case from Amazon for just over a fiver. It looks exactly like a glasses case but keeps all the bits tidy in sections and has little ice pack you could use for travelling there - might not want to re freeze it in their freezer though as not sure what other use it could have if spotted.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 06/07/2025 11:49

It doesn’t need to be kept in the fridge after the first use and I would get one of these as they are activated by cold water and give you peace of mind that the pen is under 30 degrees.

I’m going on holiday shortly sailing in Greece. I’m going to take a week break as I know it will be hotter than 30 and the fridges are not v reliable on yachts. Also I’m a secret jabber. But with AC I’d just keep it in my bag. Happy hols xx
