Mounjaro diarrohea

Marinamay44 · 01/07/2025 14:20

I have been on mounjaro for three weeks. My dose is 2.5.

I have had diarrohea on and off, but I have always been able to get to the toilet in time.

I was at the airport today, sitting in a waiting area, and I literally shit myself in the waiting area. I couldn't control it. It was so embarassing. Am I going to lose control of my bowels on Mounjaro?

Did you know there’s a study on Munjaro that basically says 1/100 will have a heart attack and therefore likely die. Can’t understand anyone touching this stuff unless so unhealthy death is a high probability anyway.

Agree! What happened to eat less, move more?

That is too simplistic.

If that worked we would have no overweight people in society, yet there are loads.

Some people cannot stop eating for a variety of reasons.

Some people over eat to make themseves feel better after a huge trauma.

For example, my friend was raped, she put on four stone afterwards.

Eating can be like a drug addiction for other people. They simply cannot stop by themselves.

Oh bless you. This happened to me once. Mounjaro may disagree with you if you are losing bowel control.

i have kind of similar in that I can’t stop projectile vomiting. When I vomit I also wet myself. Been on it just over a week and I’ve had to stop taking it.

Blindtwitcher101 · 01/07/2025 19:12

I am experiencing the opposite although the night I take it the wind is horrific! By morning I am ok. I have lost 15lb in 5.5 weeks although I have the weight to loose. I don’t really feel any different even though I have lost a good bit of weight, still wearing size 16-18 clothes, but my husband keeps commenting he can see the loss when he tans my back for me!

not sure about others, but I find on salad heavy days I lose less weight/no weight than if I eat carbs which is odd!

simsbustinoutmimi · 01/07/2025 19:12

Marinamay44 · 01/07/2025 18:14

Yes the medication hasn't been working for me so far.

I thought I would feel less hungry on it. My appetite has been exactly the same on mounjaro. I haven't lost any weight.

The only thing it has done is give me nausea and diarrohea.

It is expensive too. I will take next week's dose, but if it just making me sick and not giving me any positive effects at all, I will think about stopping it.

It doesn’t sound like it’s working for you, not just the diarrhoea but still no weight loss. I lost nearly 11 pounds in my first week but still had to come off it

I’m not sure what this Munjaro drug is? Sounds absolutely lethal 😂

Crikeyalmighty · 01/07/2025 19:21

Weirdly I had the opposite on the5 weeks I took it - absolute text book healthy bowel movements (tmi) !!

Super excited to see the sources for this claim.

Can you link to the study? Sounds terrifying. That said, I wonder what the percentage of obese people to have a heart attack is…

wizzywig · 01/07/2025 19:30

Isn't 2.5 the starting dose and one you wouldn't lose any weight on? It sounds horrible what you have gone through

Cucy · 01/07/2025 19:49

Not every body can cope with it.

I don’t believe you can lose any weight on the 2.5 dose apart from if it’s a placebo effect.

If you want the medication then try a different version but be careful if you’re struggling to afford it.

When you come off the injections, you can easily put all of the weight back on and you really need to wean yourself off them and work really hard to not put it all back on.

If cost is an issue then it’s going to be harder for you to wean yourself off and it’s a lot of money to lose if you end up putting it all back on.

If you are what you are today (perhaps a bit more protein) then you will lose weight.

I’ve lost almost 11 pounds on my first week despite it making me puke. I think the heavier you are the more likely more comes off to begin with. I can’t cope w the side effects either and am coming off it I ended up in hospital.

fwiw I’m over 20 stone)

JustPinkFinch · 01/07/2025 19:52

I've had one dose of the shits since starting 4 weeks ago. That couple of hours was brutal - never known toilet time like it. I'd got half way to my DD's sports day and had to turn on my heels and powerwalk home. With me I felt it was definitely related to something I had eaten the night before (fatty steak), and hasn't reappeared. I am going to get another low dose 2.5mg as my next pen, but I think when I have to go up it will be 3.75mg to mitigate against stuff like this.

It's a piss boiler that you've experienced this AND not had any suppression. I will say though - 2.5mg doesn't suppress quite a lot of users by the sounds of things. Most need a higher strength.

GAJLY · 01/07/2025 20:11

My mum was on a weight loss drug. She had diarrhoea for 3 months! I told her, why would you stay home close to the toilet to lose weight?! She missed out on meals/outings/socialising it was crazy. Thank God she stopped. She thinks soup was triggering it, but who knows. Life's worth more than sitting near a toilet

My cardiologist said there are studies that it’s been shown to be beneficial to people with some cardiovascular conditions.

Yes I heard this too. Think PP is talking rubbish though admittedly there isn’t much research about it with WL as it’s fairly new to being used for that

Glowingup · 02/07/2025 07:11

I had this a few weeks ago after about four months with no diarrhoea (but some constipation). I also didn’t make it to the loo in time although at that point there was mainly water coming out of me and I was at home but omg. Imodium made no difference for me at all - I just had to sit it out. Not had it since but I’ve been taking quite a low dose (3.75). It has little to do with what you eat - it can do but often it just happens. You get people on here who swear it’s your own fault with any side effect and will not admit that the drug itself causes them. Or they will tell you it’s a very mild side effect. Anyway mine went away and I do still take it but if it was like this all the time I’d stop.

For the love of god really?! If it was that simple we wouldn’t have an obesity crisis! Particularly as we age hormonal factors kick into play and it is so much harder to keep your weight down. I have to stick to about 1000 cals a day or I put weight on. It’s beyond depressing and not fair. I do not sit and stuff my face all day as many people believe overweight people do.

I have lost 5 stone 10 pounds using the 2.5mg dose. I’m not an outlier either, there are plenty of people talking about having a similar experience.

it’s not a placebo, it’s changed my life. It changed something in my brains that has enabled me to stop binging and eat 3 healthy meals a day.

Says someone who’s never understood food addiction and eating disorders. I’ve been strength training for over five years but always struggled with food, this is just a tool to help me just like my inhalers stop me having asthma attacks. Stop spreading misinformation and unhelpful comments. If it was as simple as ‘eat less, move more’ we wouldn’t have such an issue with weight.

I always find the first 12-24 hours after an injection give me digestive issues but then I’m fine.

Yes, what total rubbish! I lost loads of weight on half of the 2.5mg dose as I was so scared of side effects. I’m nearly 6 months in and not gone past 3.75 but 32 pounds down. So of course you can lose weight on a low dose.

JustPinkFinch · 02/07/2025 09:05

Been overeating for 10 years. 2.5mg cured that within 12 hours. Absolutely no way it's a placebo - my gluttony wouldn't give a placebo that much credit.

I haven't lost any weight at all on the 2.5mg dose

Regardless of the dose, you won’t lose any weight if you’re not in a calorie deficit. The drug can’t override the laws of physics. Many people think they are in a deficit but have overestimated their TDEE or underestimated their calorie intake. If you are absolutely certain of your deficit and you still aren’t losing weight then you need to see your GP for investigations, for example on your thyroid function.
