Sudden nausea - months in!!!!

Few side effects to begin with. Been st a higher dose - 10 mg - for a couple of months now. Suppression has been minimal throughout, just taking the “edge” off. In fact I’ve only lost about 20 pounds in 8 months.

However last couple of injections - nausea!! It’s a really horrible feeling.

I even wondered if this latest pen was “bad”?. Do you think that’s possible?

Anyone had a similar experience? Side effects out of the blue after a long time of being pretty OK?

PS. I reduced the last dose to 5 mg and still got nausea and a dash of diarrhoea.

Any thoughts on what else to do? I guess stay in lower dose again until matters improve?

What's your starting and current BMI?

Ppalace · 30/06/2025 09:59

Roughly - can’t remember exactly. 14 stone to 12 1/2 stone

Starting bmi - 33, current - 30

Yes I’ve posted about this a few times, got side effect of nausea, vomiting, indigestion, on 3rd pen of 10, 8 months into my journey as I was more or less at goal weight I dropped to 7.5 and had the same thing happen on 3rd 7.5 pen.
I’ve now dropped to 5.
I think it just got too strong for me once I’d lost the weight.
As I’m in maintenance I’m not needing to loose weight, so dropping down has been fine.
I’ve seen other people who drop for a while then go back up again and that has worked.
I’d talk to your prescriber and see what they recommend.

Thanks for your response @Itscoldouthere .

The weird thing is I’ve been stuck at 12 1/2 stone for a couple of months now! Though lost a pound today!

Anyway, I take some comfort from your message. Perhaps it’s just the general build up and my body saying hang on a minute. So, I’m gonna hang on a minute, for a while.

The irony is I went very conservatively throughout as I absolutely wanted to minimise side affects as much as possible. Which I mainly achieved - apart from some nasty hives on arms one time (allergic reaction).

So the nausea has taken me by surprise at this late stage. Still, I did get to learn how horrible the WLI nausea feeling actually is 😣 . Last time I spent a whole actual day in bed and the next day felt pretty rubbish too.

Anyway, I’m just going to watch my dosage carefully, reduce it, and see what happens.

Agree with other poster - I think your 'new' weight might need less of the drug. Good luck!

@Ppalace I did find the nausea and vomiting really horrible, I’m so glad I didn’t have it earlier in my journey and I also spent the day on the sofa, no way could I have worked, it was a bit of a shock as previously I’d not had many side effects although interestingly I also had a bad rash for about a week, under my boobs, which although they have become more droopy 😏 aren’t that big, I had to get a steroid cream from the doctors to clear it up, not sure if the MJ caused it or not.
I think the downside is I now know side effects can happen at anytime which is always in the back of my mind, but I’m also too scared to stop taking it as I want my body to be fully adjusted to my new weight, I really don’t want to risk gaining again.
Its not as straightforward as I thought it was when I started, or maybe I just overthink things?
Anyway, hopefully you are just having a plateau and things will start moving again for you soon and you won’t get anymore horrible nausea.

Yes @Itscoldouthere I am wary too. I definitely lay off before holidays or important events - even if it delays weight loss. I don’t want to drive a tank to Bedroom Prison Armageddon 😁 to lose weight. I’m taking my time in some ways, though I would appreciate some more weight loss now I’ve been on this plateau for a while! Early on I read about the Conservatives female MP (forget her name) Dorres? in the Daily Mail. She lost a fair amount of weight (and quite slim to begin with!) but was basically ill all the way through with side effects. I just can’t do that. Anyway rant over.

Feel somewhat better this afternoon ….

I’m on it for life - or as long as the British Government lets me!

I pay privately, so I meant re. any forthcoming restrictions not NHS rules!
