Started 5mg & feel awful

Hello,
Looking for advice/reassurance.
Started 5mg dose on Fri after 4 weeks on 2.5.
Went for dinner yesterday, Indian and one cider and felt absolutely awfully for the rest of the day. Sweating, felt sick, just wanted to sleep, headache.
Is this just the after effect of the wrong foods? I could have cried I felt so awful. Or...possibly it's unrelated, and I'm just ill.
I have lost nearly a stone. Wondering whether to drop back to 2.5...two small children, I can't cope with side effects like that.

Indian meal (English version) plus cider is not going to settle well in a slow digesting stomach. Fat and alcohol...

You may well see it again.

You can't really blame upping doses when you've eaten something probably carb and fat heavy with a bubbly cider too.

Better out than in! Good luck!

Shmoigel · 29/06/2025 15:32

Anything fizzy and oily is not going to sit well in a stomach with less capacity.
I had sweet and sour chicken balls in my early days of taking it and it felt like I had eaten a cannon ball 🤢

Shmoigel · 29/06/2025 15:33

My go to drink is now Vodka and apple juice, flat and does the job!

PermanentTemporary · 29/06/2025 15:37

Alcohol and/or fatty food and/or rice have always given me huge problems when upping doses. It’s miserable isn’t it. I do wonder if the rice which may be a tad moving towards ageing out normally which would be ok with fast digestion becomes poison with the slower digestion of MJ.

i barely lost anything on 2.5 but 5… omg.

Hope you feel better soon.

creekyjohn · 29/06/2025 15:37

yes it’s probably what you ate. You don’t need to drop back to 2.5mg but you do need to adjust your diet accordingly

Elle771 · 29/06/2025 15:41

I've just moved up to 5mg too and have really noticed alcohol in particular I'm much less tolerant to.. like the 2.5mg reduced my wanting it as much but now on 5mg any fizzy alcohol or more than a glass or two makes me feel physically quite rough.. might be just me tho!

I haven't tried anything spicy since being on it as I know that can make you feel rough so maybe the combo of oily/carby/spicy/alcohol plus going up a dose was just a bit much??

90yomakeuproom · 29/06/2025 15:43

I felt awful the first week after upping to 5 and then 7.5 but it does get better! 😊

DarkForces · 29/06/2025 15:45

It'll be that dinner I'm afraid. I've not braved pizza again after the effects of 2 slices of Italian crust vegetable supreme about 6 months ago. I felt dreadful

WeAllHaveWings · 29/06/2025 15:53

Not the best choice of food or drink to try out straight after a dose increase 🙈

You must have known that was going to be a risky move.......or do you just enjoy danger?😂

Hope you feel better soon!

Feelingggroggy · 29/06/2025 17:53

Indian and alcohol, I don't know how you got it down op, I'd stick to mounjaro friendly food, and ditch the alcohol, haven't touched it in 4 months. I can't eat anything remotely spicy or fatty, or I see it again, I once had mackerel thinking oh fish healthy, noooooo the oiliness made me sick as a dog.

DesperatelySeekingHelp · 29/06/2025 17:58

I had to stop and have a break after two weeks of 5mg. I started all over again on 2.5mg after 3/4 weeks break. I am now on 2nd week of 5mg and feel absolutely fine. However it definitely does depend on what you eat I have found.

schopenhauer · 29/06/2025 19:43

Why did you move up if you’d lost nearly a stone on 2.5? Makes no sense. But may have been the provider sticking to a strict schedule. I would definitely drop back to maybe 3.75 but also clean up your diet if you’re going with higher doses, or go back to 2.5.

friendlycat · 30/06/2025 00:16

I’ve been on 5mg for 2 months.
Truthfully I don’t think I could stomach an Indian unless it was plain chicken tikka with salad.

DollyPop100 · 30/06/2025 06:31

only happened once I had a Chinese takeaway, think I ate it too quickly and it was quite heavy on tum had awful side effects without too much details 3 -4 days in the bathroom. It is probably heavy meal you had.
I have had takeaway since but smaller portion and I didn’t eat it quickly.

ShrankLastWinter · 30/06/2025 08:23

I love Indian food, but I can’t begin to think how poorly that meal would have made me on MJ.
